ahhh Loghain, how I've missed a really good antagonist. Let's not waste the guy on a silly little cameo. He's too awesome for that kind of treatment.

That is if they do stick with save imports. If the people who want that removed because they do not like it being in game for stupid reason that more development time would have fixed have their way, he is going to die no matter what your choice is.

Loghain didn't deserve to die because he attempted a coup but because of the way he did it. He got a lot of people killed in that battle with the Darkspawn just so he could set up Cailan. He endangered the entire country and never expressed a moment's sorrow for the fact that it turned out to be a Blight after all and he'd gotten half the army killed in the first real battle, with his little plot. Yeah, I want him in charge of anything.

And thenthere's the little matter of framing the Wardens...

He didn't set up Cailan. In fact, he actually tried to save him when he tells him to avoid fighting in the frontline because it's too dangerous. It's not Loghains fault that Cailan is an idiot.

He expressed sorrow through the whole thing, his own last line are "I've done so much wrong, allow me to do one thing right". Also he didn't get the army killed. They get their asses killed because there was too many darkspawn and Cailan was an idiot. Oh and you definitely want him in charge of the army. His the only reason Maric didn't die so quickly. In fact, without Loghain, Alistair or Cailan wouldn't have even been born.

And why not frame the Wardens? They took their sweet time lighting the beacon. In Loghains shoes, I would be just as suspicious.

I don't think why it wouldn't work if we could switch Alistair to Loghain. They could have a system similar to Mass Effect in which one character appears in place of another. Alistair was acting like a baby at the landsmeet, so I choose Loghain instead of Alistair. Loghain is not a bad person. He doesn't want power, only what is best for Ferelden, so I do hope to see him again.

Would love to see Loghain again. Kept him alive while Alistair and Anora ruled Ferelden. Plus he's the father of the OGB :D

Agreed. they can implement it. I executed Alistair in a lot of my playthroughs.

Agreed. Other than the OGB's father being my warden, I ended up with the same result.

Loghain is a fantastic character. I thought DG did a great job setting up his motivations in the books and it really payed off in game, I thought. Even if it's a small cameo like Awakenings had, I'd be happy.

If the game is only set in Orlais I think some of the fan favourites are probably going to find random excuses as to A. why they just happen to be coincidentally wondering though Orlais, and B. why they just need to chat to the protagonist for a few minutes whilst referencing random events and/or characters from the last two games.

He had Eamon poisoned so his troops wouldn't be there to offer necessary support. How is that not a set-up? And the only reason he wanted the beacon lit was to signal him to take the troops that were supposed to flank the Darkspawn and leave. He wrote off the people already committed to the field. He also purposely went after the Wardens not because of the beacon but because they have international ties including Orlais. He's irrational and cannot be trusted.

I'd like to see Loghain play an interesting role if you let him live. My Warden let Loghain live, despite the cost of Alistair's friendship. Being such a powerful figure, having him in the Wardens was not only a potential boon, but also a way to rebuild the order by taking in someone of such renown, despite his betrayal. By leaving behind Loghain with the Wardens and putting Alistair on the throne with Anora, my Warden left behind the best chances for Thedas to recover on all fronts.

Im not really sure, I mean in a way he should appear but he'd have to appear riding a horse barechested leading an army or it just wouldn't be worth it. Not exaclty a character you just sort of have turn up and bump into you in Orlais him muttering to himself and then brushing you off.

The only way I see that happening is if for some reason he never got executed somehow due to him being too loghain like to accept execution and rode off to Orlais to attack it with just his bear fists (he obviously just fist fought a bear to the death and took its paws as a trophy).

Of course he's alive for me since I made Alistair hard so he was paying me back so I guess he could just show up and complain about the weather and Orlais in general.

Now thats a save import that I don't have. I hope that Bioware gives all possible imports a good showing in DA3.

I'd be fine with finding a codex entry for Loghain in Orlais if in imported universe he was alive. Don't see any burning reason for him to physically appear.

Because of his sheer badassery.

I wonder if they were to decide that he has a larger role to play would they simply bring him back regardless of your playthroughs? Would it be treated as bad as Leliana's coming back from the dead? Or would people accept it because he was a popular character?

Didn't Logahain go to Orlai? Think we'll get to see him again?

Inquisitor (Player character): You must be Teyrn Loghain. Can I just say that you are my childhood hero.
Teyrn Logahain: Flattery will get you nowhere. What do you want?
Inquisitor: I was wondering if you could kindly join us in our quest to take down Kal Emon.
Teyrn Logahain: How about no! I've already have enough commitments being a Grey Warden without joining a rag tag group of vagrants. Be gone.
Inquisitor: Shame. Kal Emon is building an army to take Fereldan. Without your help...
Teyrn Logahain: Did you say he's going to take Fereldan?
Inquisitor: Well, not if we stop him.
Teyrn Logahain: I'll help you on one condition.
Inquisitor: Name your price.
Teyrn Logahain: Give me proof of this planned invasion and I will gladly send my soldiers to assist you.

I'm picturing him trying to assassinate the Empress and having a bloody battle across her throne room, guards strewn about, hacked to pieces, in a trail leading to his decapitated corpse with a hand on the bottom step to the royal dais, as though he were still trying to end Orlais even in death.

Or, y'know, just a codex entry telling us about it.

Loghain is dead and he deserved it

His hate for Orlais was understanadable, read "The Stolen Throne" and you'll see what I mean. I kill him on every playthrough only because I don't feel like losing Alistar, but I don't hate him for trying to do what he thought was best for his country.

The book gave me a different perspective on Loghain, and I let him live with Alistair married to Anora. But in the end, most of my playthrough is letting Alistair kill Loghain

I would love to kill Loghain again! Oh wait what was the question, -see- him again? Oh... No, do not want. If it was a cameo that depended on whether he was still alive or not then sure, why not? But we don't know how decisions are going to carry over yet so just wait before weighing the chances.

It would send everyone mad, atleast lopping Leliana's head off was very rare....just killing her was also quite rare i would expect.

Perhaps a pre-order bonus of the game could include a wine goblet fashioned from Loghain's skull?

It's sad that the rumours about Hawke possessing such a trophy from his/her victory over the Arishok were never true.

No, thanks. He got the death all slavers deserve. Let him stay dead and rotting.
