I had an interesting question that I have not seen any info on. Will the DA toolset cost us money to download or can we download it free like with NWN2 ?

It's cost is the game itself. :) And of course waiting for it. Free download, but you need to have the Full game installed to use it, well, and registered to even download it which is a challenge in itself.

I wouldn't bet on that. If the 3rd-party software engineers (SpeedTree FX, FaceFX/3d FaceFX, and more) don't reach a bargain with EA, I could see them either charging us for it to compensate payment to the engineers or I can see us getting a program that's literally HALF of what BioWare used to develop the game.:crying:

The toolset has been in beta, but from people I know (personally, from years of playing with them on NWN) who have copies of the DA toolset, we're not getting any kind of half-way toolset. The features are there and while you might not get modelling tools for things like animations or skins, those aren't really part of the "toolset" in any case. And in nearly every case (there was one tool for NWN2 modelling that was unavailable in a free/low cost format) there are reasonable alternatives to having the expensive "business" editions of the software.

To avoid further speculation: the toolset is a free download available to owners of a registered copy of the PC version of DA:O (it requires DA:O engine and resources to run) and is essentially the very same tool that BioWare used to create DA:O (a different light mapping solution had to implemented since most people can't afford to install a render farm in their basement).
