Will count.
As long as you use the gun for the kill/assist then it counts.

If you have the weapons, then he can draw the enemy's fire away from you; thereby allowing you to kill the enemy and work towards your 50,000 points. He'll help you and others in the Community to acheive an Individual goal. See...everyone can participate...trechewy wrote...

You can kill the enemy however you want. But, the only thing that counts towards the challenge is how many points you get with one of the weapons. If you want to do it faster, ONLY use the weapon to kill things.MBRKO wrote...

I'm not so sure I agree with your interpretation of reward. It's not that it is wrong, it's just I see it from a different perspective. The way I see it: being able to partake in this challenge is the reward.
In respect to wanting it to happen more often--I'm quite sure this is the first that has excluded new players (not counting not having kits unlocked, of course). So yes, I would like to see more of these. Though, in all honesty, I'm not quite sure how they could go about it (other than make a similar operation).
