The Valkyrie is a two-round burst assault rifle with a standard thermal clip capacity of sixteen shots (equaling eight bursts).
The main strength of this rifle is that it has good damage and high accuracy, meaning the Valkyrie will kill enemies quickly and efficiently at mid to long-range.
The two-round burst nature of this weapon gives this rifle a slightly better chance in close quarter fights than the other semi-automatic assault rifles.
As with all assault rifles, this weapon does equal damage to barriers, shields or armour.
Weight is the biggest flaw with the Valkyrie, weighing in more than most assault rifles, making it difficult to use powers regularly when used with multiple weapons.
Another weakness is that because of the burst-nature of this gun, the Valkyrie has a fairly mild upward pull when firing. This can be remedied by making sure the cross-hairs are on target before firing to maintain effectiveness.
The stability damper upgrade will make the Valkyrie much easier to fire rapidly as it eliminates much of the weapon's upward pull allowing the player to stay on target with little effort.

I like how BW is being very mum about whether you have to earn 50,000 points in one match with any combination of the four N7 promo weapons (luckily I have the Crusader and the Valiant) or whether you can just use them all weekend and get 50k total. The former would probably require more soloing for me to accomplish, the latter would mean I can run a Valiant/Crusader loadout on either my Destroyer or my Demolisher and just roll in Silver.

The ambiguity coming out of Bioware is kind of the reason I quit playing for a while, after that weekend op where it wasn't specified until VERY late in the weekend that only full extractions counted towards the tally of "extractions" required for the community to complete the op.

Operation VALKYRIE (Oct. 26th – 28th)

An elite asari unit recently recovered shipments of Alliance weapons that had been intercepted by Cerberus. The weapons will soon be delivered to the front lines where they belong. With fresh supplies and skilled reinforcements, we were able to increase the number of targets planned for our next assault.

Individual Goal: Earn 50,000 points using N7 promotional weapons (Valiant, Hurricane, Crusader, Eagle) on any map at any difficulty. The four weapons may be used in combination. Points will be cumulative. Extraction is not required.

Reward: Commendation Pack

Other: The N7 Valkyrie assault rifle will be added to the list of possible commendation pack items.

The weapon is OWNED by BIOWARE not gamestop. They can do what they want with it. When a company is gven sole rights to a weapon for pre-order it has an experation. The experation is normally between 1 and 6 months after the game came out. WHen you get the code there is usually a use by date in fine print for the code, tho they aren't even required to print that. NOT to mention that was a SP preorder. They can add it to mp if they want. For that matter since it's THERE"S they can add it to one of the gun packs for sp as well.

It's a little harder to get a hurricane from a PSP I think....

Totally off topic, but your ID and avatar are clever.  Subtle and well done.

Back on topic, with the CAR moving from promotional to rare, they needed to add a promotional AR.  I just hope the MP version is worth being a promotional, since as others pointed out, it now competes for unlock/upgrades.  Would really like an AR that lives up to expectations, kind of like the Hurricane does for SMGs (I don't have a Valiant, so can't comment on that).

I would suggest that you just let the new guys finish the challenge with a cumulative 50k points using the basic weapons. Accomplishing this should be enough of a challenge for someone who's only been playing for a few weeks.

I doubt the system is set up for it, but a cool alternate would be to allow an experienced player to "Mentor" the new guy in a match or three and the points the experienced player got would count toward the new guys goal. Talk about an awesome way to get people helping instead of soloing (which I fear this has the potential to make some people do.)

Anyway, my two cents. Now I'm off to polish my Hurricane and Crusader and see what these changes can do for my chances with the Drell Vanguard...

Hmmm, maybe I'll try that tonight instead...

Love everything about this, but I am concerned it won't be accessible to new players. Would there be a way to loan players an N7 weapon for the weekend? Or maybe an Operation Pack that contains one for use this weekend? Maybe extending it to include any UR weapons? Alas, probably too late now.

Question: Does every new player start with a Level 1 N7 weapon? Else how do new players complete this operation?
