My map shows Lothering greyed out along with other locations. Why is this? I'm at level 14. Thanks.

Lothering always get greyed out once you started with any of the main quests,
none can go back there.

You should have posted this in a section which allows spoilers, buddy; The answers would have been a lot better.

Rest assured, there's a very good reason why you can't go back there. There's nothing wrong with your game, you haven't done anything wrong and it has nothing to do with your level.

Thanks guys for your info. I was only interested in going back there because I recently found out that there are side quests available there that I would like to do. Is doing these side quests still possible if I post this at a section that allows spoilers?

No. Once Lothering is gone, it is gone and all the quests there are unavailable from then on.

There's some pretty good "stuff'", shall we say, that you could/should collect there, if you know what I mean.  As far as side quests go, you aren't really missing much, to be honest.

Only if you have an earlier save point...or by starting from the beginning

or by using the Console, however that's only available in the PC.

PM if you're interested in this option and I'll tell you the steps you need to make.

Edit: Though I think some quests are tagged as completed if you started them but then Lothering became inaccessible.
