That approach will bing the undesirable effect of "tailor made" backgrounds for classes. They're all humans. Hopefully the stat system is more flexible like DA:O than the "dump your points here" system of DA2.
Couldn't agree with you more, there. I think that backgrounds should strictly affect roleplay and story, but as far as gameplay goes, shouldn't have an effect in any way.
Edit: Well, except for being/not being a mage, of course.
