i vote no, this is a futuristic game, iron sights snipers became obsolete when scopes were made.
if scopes were not meant to be on sniper rifles why would real world modern day snipers prefer a scope?
besides im pretty sure BW said a long while back that the sniper scopes zoom in as far as they do to keep them balanced. in other words they designed them to lower a snipers field of view on purpose.
anyway thats my opinion on the subject, but im sure someone will quote me with insults just because i disagree.... this is the BSN after all.

NO Sniper rifles have scopes on them any true sniper will tell you no on the iron sights same with any pro shooter
My PSG-1 came with a scope and its a sniper rifle
This isn't a pro shooter, stop comparing and actually play the game before giving your opinion.

Who cares about that? Iron sights are still used now, decades after their creation, because they are reliable. No doubt they will stay for a long time. Also, every other weapon that is not a sniper rifle has no iron sights in your opinion?

magnification is just way to high on Sniper rifles for most maps. Let us reduce the magnification or find a way to adjust it. they can adjust modern sniper scopes so why not in a world thats supposed to be in the future.
the iron sights isnt a bad idea either though.

It gives the player more control and if your arguement is based on the map layout being balanced for snipers you obiously havn't played enough.
Iron sight snipers still exist today and will in the future.

This isn't a would you use it or not use it thread but rather will it work / not work thread, and why?
I believe it would work and I have reasons for this, I'm not compairing it to anything other than in game playstyles that would benefit from it while not being broken at the same time.

lol had that happen once... still managed to score allright but it was painful. enemy movement gets so exagurated at closer ranges.
but yea Turian ghost with saber sounds like the closest thing to an iron sight sniper in this game. its actually very effective easily up there with the harrier/PPR.

It could also slightly decrease the weight a little bit too. I'd definitely use it if it had that aspect.

And yes, I think that with the maps we have, some of the SRs would be better off without the zoom.
The team could rework the zoom mechanics, at least for the PC: the regular zoom works like all the other weapons and removes penalty, the zoom + scroll adds the scope.

If I said that you were an idiot for thinking that way, that would have been condescending.
As for the shotguns with smart choke : you can snipe with it since nearly all the maps are CQC. That's why I made the comparison.
Shotguns have the edge in the metagame right now, as they can ignore shieldgate with their multiple pellets, and have no hipfire penalty.
