Morrigan can't be this dumb.  Anytime you help anyone in a way to win favor and gain support she disapproves.  I guess she doesn't understand relationships in any form growing up in isolation. lol.

she's a paranoid megalomaniac. in fanboispek, that's read as "complex" or "interesting."

She's not dumb, you have your objective and she feels that is what you should be focusing on instead of helping out petty squabbles which do nothing to aid you in your task nor does she like taking on unnecessary risks.

I see her as a point A to B person. She doesn't care what potential benefit going to point C or maybe even D gives. The risk outweighs the benefit, we should just focus on the task and get there a quickly as possible. Sten is fairly similar in that regard, just not so paranoid.

But my vision maybe cloudy, some I find her interesting and slightly complex. Not enough to be fanboi status, but a fan.

Except that just about everything she gets mad about is intended to gain more members for your army, whether immediately or in the long run.  She even whines when you try to save the mages.

I found this troublesome with Morrigan, as well. Unfortunately, she's not a "big picture" kind of anti-hero. If you're not being ruthless and taking power directly, she feels you're wasting your time. She's not stupid, she's just selfish and lacks vision.

She also has her own agenda. Anything that distracts from that does not have her approval.

assuming her "long range plan" is her primary motivation, it does make her seem unbelievably tunnel-visioned for all the things she opposes. considering that many of the things she disapproves of is forced by the game, she also seems half-woman, half-plotdevice.

Her long-range plan is to improve her spellcasting abilities. She doesn't need or want allies, and doesn't think the Gray Warden should pursue them, either. Like all the other party members, she reacts based on her experience and personal bias. Unfortunately, her experience is being raised by a crazy old hermit.

Well since most of the side plots involve getting more army when yu get to the final battles and actually never really use any of the army anyway unless you just want to see what they look like in combat. So realistically it all was a waste of time, except for the redcliffe quest because you need the arl to call the landsmeet.

She did a few things I questioned, but the vast majority of her negativity made sense for her character. You can't look at things in hindsight or even from a story/gameplay perspective. Rather you need to look at it as it is in that moment with her. She is very selfish, very self-centered and she is concerened about her objective only, which just happens to be the same objective as you, for a time.

The real problems lies with the fact that she doesn't take unnecessary risks period, the thing is all the problems involve taking unnecessary risks. So you're are kind of railroaded through most of the game going in the opposite direction of her views on the various situations.

But she is not simply just evil. She has her own goals and values. It's one of the few evil characters in the game who makes sense if you figure her out. Same goes for Flemeth. Usually evil characters in games have no real mind of their own. It's nice to see Morrigan is one of the exceptions.

Once you know what makes her tick it's easy to get her approval to 100%.

No. Her long range plan has more to do with the end game.

Morrigan isn't dumb as she doesn't inherit the metagame player's mind.

Keep morrigan in camp and shower her with gifts and pick "right" options in convos. Then do her quests, ggz easy 100 approval - I got it playing solo.

Mmm, may want to edit that last bit out Angry. Not supposed to be putting spoilers up here and that's kind of a big one.

Much of her disapproval comes down to thinking it is pointless or futile. Like when I gave money to that refugee in Redcliffe. How does giving 5 gold to a refugee to help her get to Denerim with her little brother help my cause against the Darkspawn? Morrigan points this out and she's right.

As for saving the mages, well... I totally understand her beef on that one. She hates the Circle (in addition to the Templars and Chantry).

I've heard some snippets of what that is, but from what I have heard I think she simply made that her long-range plan post-Black Grimoire.

Yet if she wasn't raised by that crazy old hermit she would be right along with them. Frankly I find her petty and pathetic and wish my PC could call her out on it. Sadly the writers seem to have not realized people might you know..spot this and wanna call her out on it >_>

Yes. She doesn't bleive in the black and white view of "any mage which is not a part of the Circle should be considered evil". That actually makes sense. There are not many non-evil mages like that in the game, though. ;)

Eh, that works fine. Those of us who have been there know what you're talking about.

But yeah, Morrigan, despite her difficulties in dialogue is one of the easier companions to get up to 100. One on one dialogue with her gets her approval jumping up fast along with her 3 plot items and she has the most personal gifts in the game. Her literal love for negativity is a minor inconvenience at worst.

You can call her out on this, and she assures you she'd probably have killed herself by now if that were the case.
