To anyone reading this: i have a connection problem since i purchased this game. I've been reading the thread about "Mass Effect 3 server is unavailable at this time. please try again later" and the lack of support from EA. Read my last message to EA Help and answer me: Can i truly expect an answer for my issue? Or should i lie in waiting until the next decade?:(

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello to anyone who reads this. my name is Renan Palma. I'm having trouble with
connection to the Mass effect 3 server since i purchased this game in march. My
PC is adequate for optimal graphic performance and uses a 56kbps modem without
router. I can't play multiplayer mode. Only 3 matches
i played months ago, with 1.0 version of the game, even those with
problems(multiplayer store without any item).I've purchased retail standard
edition. The issue was and still is "Mass Effect 3 server is unavailable
at this time. please try again later" and unable to authorize any dlc.
During these months, i forwarded several support tickets about the problem and
the issue escalated to a problem with online pass. Then i received a new code
for standard edition, with no results. A new code for digital deluxe edition
was given to me,finally solving the online pass issue, but now after 4 or 5
connection attempts, games apparently crashes. Another thing: my dlc is not
accessible, a profile file is absent in my bioware folder, even my
acomplishments are not updated since the last time i could authenticate my dlc
months ago.These last issues began when i downloaded the multiplayer dlc for
the first time. during these months, i tried several attempts to solve the
connection issue,all with EA advisors. These include:

Disabling antivirus and firewall;
repair installation(including dlc);
reinstall game & origin;
manual & REVO uninstall;
use origin beta;
configure  firewall ports;
dns check;
login with another user;
clean boot;
delete offline.cache;
delete files from temp folder;
IP config;
switching/deactivating account in OS;
modem power cycle;
modify the hosts file;
Connecting to internet using another ISP.
UOtrace shows no problems with connection.
As you see, many things were tried but nothing worked so far. And my open support tickets,
as it seems, are being ignored. I would understand if you tell me a solution is
under work, but will take some time, but this silence is a total lack of
respect with the customer. I was even considering to purchase dlc for the  game, but without connection to the server, it's useless. I hope for a straight answer. thank you for reading.

Thank you for contact to us at Electronic Arts.

I understand your eagerness to continue with the game. I am very apologetic that you had to go through this. I have made couple of changes in your account. I have removed standard edition game from your account. Because, it might conflicting with the Digital deluxe edition you have installed on your PC. I have checked your previous cases and found that you have contacted to us couple of times previously with the same issue and you have tried multiple troubleshooting steps. I am providing you few steps related to the game. I hope this will sure fix your issue.

Please go through these articles:

https://help.ea.com/...t-3-multiplayer

https://help.ea.com/...n-to-ea-servers

Also, please repair your game installation from Origin application.

Go to Origin application
Select game
Right click on game icon
Select repair/install

After that logout from Origin and the launch the game.

If these steps will not work for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us again.

You: The steps you provided did not work. I even restarted origin after that and nothing changes... Another thing. The "offline.cache" is absent in my hard drive, as the "onlineprofile". I believe i need these files to play properly multiplayer & DLC. But install repair says nothing is wrong. I read these articles long ago. I\\'m not losing connection... i couldn\\'t even connect, remember? And as i said, one of the troubleshooting steps i tried is to configure firewall ports. Give me something different...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting back to us at Electronic Arts.

As you have mentioned the above steps did not work for you. I would suggest you to reinstall your game manually. After that re-download the game and try to connect online. You can refer this article for manually uninstalling the Mass Effect 3:

https://help.ea.com/...g-mass-effect-3

If these steps will not work for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Looking forward to your response.

You have better chances of receiving a response from a brick wall first before you get one from  BioWare.

To my dear readers, i plead for assistance... Today i uninstalled origin with REVO, making a true cleaning of registry and etc(an old troubleshoot attempt, i know),reinstalled the program and now the game "requests" to be updated. A big file(4277,83 MB) for my hopelessly slow connection, but question is: Is it normal?

Hi Renleech, I would say downloading such large files is normal. I had to re-install my copy of ME3 from the disc and that is approx. 10GB. After that, Origin dowloaded approx. 4.5GB of data which consisted of updates, DLC's etc.

Regarding your connectivity issues, I understand that you are using a 56Kbps Modem. I suggest you try out the following AT Command, if you haven't tried already...without the quotes "AT&FX0".
For reference regarding AT Commmands, please go to:
1) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/164660
2)
3) search Google for "modem initialization strings"

Hope this helps!

Makes sense, since BioWare doesn't have customer support.

I am assuming that you have Windows 7...
All right! Here you go... Please input the string "AT&FX0" without quotes; in the box that you get by following the steps given in the below link. If there is any issue regarding connectivity, please remove the string and you'll be back to the original settings.

You: Then explain how i played the demo and 3 matches in the normal game without lags... An unexpected development. I uninstalled origin with REVO, made a full clean of all origin files and installed again. Now the game is receiving an update of 4277,83 MB. Is it normal?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you readers noted they didn't answer my questions? When will they stop parroting? In St. Never's Day?
The deadline they gave to me ends 11/08 and still no update...

Hope is an illusion with EA.
I figured out the last problem i had with anything EA myself, before their tech support responded 2 weeks later.
I'm actually surprised you got this working on 56k ... i couldn't browse on 64k ISDN, 6 years ago.
Hell, i couldn't play world of warcraft on that half of the time. (which at that particular point in time was rated for 56k)
i'm on freakin 20 mbit cable at this point in time, and now i'm having problems getting my isp to consistently give me what i'm damn well paying for.

In my country, a recent law is trying to solve this, fines included. Before this law, there was no obligation to deliver the promised speed... Surprisingly, 56kbps is quite stable.

You: Yesterday connection started working.And dlc was authorized too. But the multiplayer store is empty. No items to buy. Does the big update(4277,83 MB) solve this? And another thing: All caracthers from Rebellion pack are unlocked, but i never used them and never purchased any multiplayer pack. How?

11/08/12 às 11:20 PM
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can any reader explain this to me? I don't expect EA to answer this...

unusual ... they might be being nice to you?
You know;
"were terrible sorry for the inconvenience ... here is some free sh*t"
I know, it dosnt sound like EA ...
It may be given because youre a "late" joiner (that being said i have read the start of your post too)

Technical support is hit and miss, sometimes you will get an agent who knows everything there is to know about the questions youre asking, sometimes you get shazza who's more interested in the muck under her nails, plus dave who spends most of his time flirting with her (or vice versa) - trust me, the way my ISP is ... i know that first hand, lucky me when ive got a serious enough problem ... i can just write an email to the CEO, bypass the level 1 & 2's and get the problem expedited ... sadly EA dosnt work like that.

Multiplayer store opening up with no items may be connection related, servers have a habit of almost "giving up" on your computer if the datastream is too slow, or its interrupted and while you may have sufficient bandwidth to play, you may have too-low an upload threshold to communicate with the store - it takes a good 30 seconds to load some days for me as well ... (20mbit down, 1 up)

The thing with online gaming is;
You dont actually need much bandwidth to play a game, the connection just has to be there and with as little % Packet loss as possible (preferably 0%.)
The worse the latency / packet loss, the more chance there is that the server or your computer will miss a critical packet communication with each other and you'll get disconnected.

If youre experiencing high latency, i may have a helpful fix for it ...
http://www.wowinterf...LatencyFix.html
Read all related documentation before using leatrix, its reverse-able ... you just have to use the program again and reboot as far as im aware.

Didn't change much. Store is still empty and disconnection from server after 20 seconds. What i don't know: where do i install the program?
