Instead of making them an NPC as part of a side quest or something, maybe we could learn their fates through codex entries. I think it should be pretty easy to make a few codex entries that change based on a few key choices (Ex. Following Morrigan in WH, Agreeing to sail around with Isabella, Ect.).
I really don't think putting them in the game is possible, however they could both use come closure.

I would prefer it if they didn't have cameos for Hawke/warden simply for fan service. But if they must, then this is how I'd prefer it.

I would like to see the codex more active, documenting what you did and are doing in the game, kind of like how the Witcher did it.

I don't want Bioware to decide their fates overall, but it would be nice to get some entried that might rumor what they are doing if alive.

2)Merril=likely frolicking in the woods somewhere

sorry, forgot to fix it. igt was supposed to be Hawke and the LI activities post-game.

Can Hawke and Merril do something more productive then frolicking? Also if Hawk wasn't in a romance where would he be? What if mage Hawke promised to help Anders lead the rebellion and romanced Isabella?

It might be harder to make one for the Warden.
