I think the darker tones work good enough (my portrait is supposed to look like Drizzt...), but indeed some tones make your character look like his very sick and about to die, and the age complexion turned to max makes some characters look like zombies...
Dark skin tones look terrible :(

My biggest complaint was the skin tone range. There wasn't an option to select a black skin tone. The Samuel L. Jackson picture above is Ok at best. He looks like a tan skinned Samuel L. Jackson rather than Samuel himself. My avatar is a good example I wanted black skin (or at least dark brown) but had to settle for light brown. As I said in another topic I would have preferred to have RGB & luminosity sliders to make a skin tone rather than just a single slider. It really limited the options of what and how personalized a character you could create.

That is a good question about graphic settings.QuanziZ wrote...
I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with some people having to put lower graphics settings? Not only does that example have way better skin tone then I was able to achieve (even with the complexion slider), but it looks a lot more detailed... Maybe the lower quality textures are causing skin tones to look bad? I'll manually fudge with my settings and see if that helps...
But mine was all the way up (very high) and my female at the palest setting still looked slightly tan except in her portrait where she is very pale.
So for some reason in that regard, there is alost like two lighting settings. And no I don't play with my Gamma cause all it does is wash it out.

I went with a dark skin tone. But my character is a Dwarven commoner. So it's o.k. for him to look dirty and downtrodden.

<< The character left was never meant to be black in the full sense but I'm not disappointed with him.
