I get annoyed, because more often than not in my experience on PS3, those wearing it are completely worthless in a match.

Personally no.
What I've seen work as a good deterrant though is Firebase Condor set as the active map.
People run away pretty fast when they see that map.

i found a way to make myself love that map, i just dont go on the mountaintop anymore, unless everyone's dead and i have to finish the wave solo. I'll join ya!
 screw that mountain!
the cover is bs.

It depends on the level of the match & the PUGs (presumably) you're picking up. To a lot of players the Lone Wolf banner means a great player who doesn't necessarily give a damn about the rest of his team & will do his own thing & leave them hanging out to dry. It's not necessarily the case but it's often the message it sends. Promoting yourself to possible teammates by saying 'i work best alone' is never a good idea.

The perception is probably that you're a selfish player, or not a team player. I'm not supporting it, just explaining. Also, it IS the easiest title to get, hands down.

The vast majority of lone wolf banner players I've played with go rambo and wind up dying nearly every wave, always refusing to use consumables. Not all but most. Gold is far to easy to solo with a few kits that even players that are questionable silver regulars are able to do it. Might be why the lobby empties out when they see it. Shame this seems to be the norm, I've met a few great "lone wolf" players.

I still believe banners mean nothing, the guy waving that flag is just as likely to play in that manner whatever the flag he is waving.

I highly doubt it, at first I thought this is going to mean I am teamed up with a very good player.....that has not been my experience at all, some yes, most leave a lot to be desired and I honestly wonder how some obtained it.

I think it´s rather saying "I can work alone"

But I am sad to see how many people have bad experiences with Lone Wolves.

"Intimidated" probably isn't the right word. I'd agree with... pretty much the entire thread so far that they simply think you're not a team player.

I don't assume that personally, however--some of the best players I've known are Lone Wolves, it just means they can take care of themselves, not that they're not willing to revive or help make explosions happen that would give others more points. (That would be the "Score Wh*re" banner, coming soon to a challenge system near you! ;) )

I actually know at least two Lone Wolves who are absolutely fanatical revivers. If you go down, they will get you up in 90% of circumstances. That's at least as important to them as scoring. (Although, of course, revives do get you a score increase, much like doing missions. I wonder how many PUGgies don't realize stuff like that.)

Regardless, I think if you're going to make an unjustified snap decision about someone's personality, the banner is the first indicator you have. So a "Lone Wolf" banner can make people suspicious after one too many games where taking a cheap dragoon in the back means you'd damn well better revive yourself or you're going to be sitting there for the next 10 minutes watching some idiot run around the map, quite possibly until he eventually gets killed.

I think that's what some people envision when someone advertises themselves as a "Lone Wolf", however unfair it might be.

Lone wolf means nothing... easiest title to get

No titles mean anything - you just play and you get them.

Nonsense. Titles mean you have experience and you're not just straight off the bus. If you're a Lone Wolf, you at least know how to game the system enough to solo. If you're a Biotic God, you know how to create BEs. If you're a Mathemagician, you know how to create TBs. You have a feel for what the good abilities are as well.

Unlike N7 ranking, those titles have meaning. They may not be elitist enough for some people, but they let you know you're going into a game with someone who's experienced enough to at least have a basic understanding of the ins and outs of playing.

Yeah, not really. I think because it's actually a pretty common banner and it's possible to achieve it different ways.. it makes it not intimidating in the least.

With that said, there are certain banners that really stick out to me. Collector general - props to that guy. Also, I believe it was survivor? No.. Eh, I forget, but it was pretty darn cool to see someone with a rare banner. As for me, I'll just stick w/ my cerberus banner. I see nobody having it right now - makes an impression initially.

Being a random PUG player I am usually quite delighted to see a Lone Wolf Banner. It means that the chance of playing with someone who knows next to nothing about this game is incredibly low.

Who

Cares?

If someone is intimidated by a lone wolf banner....do you even want to play with them anyway? They would probably shyt their pants at the sound of a banshees scream...

I am sure other people have said this, but I wouldn't avoid someone with a lonewolf banner, in fact I haven't even come across one yet.

For me that would just mean that if the s*** hits the fan that person should be able to clutch things out! I play with randoms all the time and it can be so hard to find decent players. Went into a silver game yesterday with someone rocking a level 1 character... I am not saying it is impossible to play with a level 1 character but I would assume treat person is after the xp and looking to be carried, when he gets dropped 5 seconds in it looked like I was right, he quite by the end of the wave!

Fortunately the team was really good, but someone capable of lone wolfing would be welcome. I can't do it!

Most people that I've seen with it have been pretty terrible, so it makes me wonder how they managed to get it.

I've only had two games where people have commented on my Lone wolf banner, one positive and one negative. The first one, I joined and immediately saw a kick mark by my name. Right after that the guy removed it and commented on how they should keep me in since I must be good if I have the banner. Ended up topping the score and handling most of the objectives for them like a good Infiltrator, and played another game or two with them after.

The time where I had a negative comment on it was earlier today when a couple guys accused me of being a missile glitcher, because according to them it's impossible for anyone to have beaten anything solo. They ended up going down a few times every wave as well, so it was not a fun game that time.

i dont get intimidated by the lone wolf banner, however it dos make me think if i want to play with the person or not, sure he/she can handle themself, but there is a chance they just going to kill everything and do 80% of the damage while i dont really have a chance to fight and make use of my consumables >.>

.....AHHHHHHH! (my impression of the terror I feel when I see the lone wolf banner) My biggest fear is banners of any kind.

P.S. this may or may not be sarcasm

I haven't really had any bad experiences with Lone Wolf players. In fact, I can't really tell the difference between any of the banners in terms of predicting what the player is going to be like.

Almost any banner is easy to get if you want to get it, so I don't think it means much. Just because I have the Sniper banner doesn't mean I'm a actually a good sniper, for all you know I just grinded out some points with sniper rifles on bronze (I am a decent sniper if I do say so myself, but that's besides the point; the point is the banner doesn't prove anything).

On BSN the Lone wolf isn´t worth much and it should be so,because there is a lot of good players here. But outside, people respect the Lone wolf banner.
