I know the topic is basically stupid...lol. I can't think of any reason they would leave so quickly except that they are intimidated.

Highly doubt it. Probably your mission set up, your build or your location.

I go with Ceberus Harrier X with Talon IX and i also equip consumables....

I take it you don't want your teammates to make anything more than assists?Image IPB

For me, lone wolf only says the person is good at running from one side of the map to the other for an hour.

That's an interesting perspective, because according to your records you've soloed Bronze once since the DLC and you barely play Gold at all. There's nothing wrong with being a Silver slash rare occasional Gold player, but don't try to trivialize the achievements of others.

It depends on the level of the match & the PUGs (presumably) you're picking up. To a lot of players the Lone Wolf banner means a great player who doesn't necessarily give a damn about the rest of his team & will do his own thing & leave them hanging out to dry. It's not necessarily the case but it's often the message it sends. Promoting yourself to possible teammates by saying 'i work best alone' is never a good idea.

That's what Nihlus said and did, and look what happened to him!

What about 'Lone Wolf' says "I work best alone."? I see the banner and I figure they at least understand spawn mechanics enough to kite enemies, because even the Krogaurd can be staggered, so you'll need to kite a bit on most objectives. I sort of think they'll be able to clutch for one match if they have to. Was in one PUG yesterday where I had that Banshee-teleports-out-of-nowhere (that I could see)-and-grabs-immediately moments. Ended up happening to my two  buddies as well, but thankfully, there was only a marauder and two cannibals left, so surely the last guy could handle it, right?

He got the marauder, had to gel, and then failed to kill two cannibals, had to gel, killed one cannibal, got downed, and didn't gel. If that person had a Lone Wolf banner, it'd have implied that that exact situation is something that they could handle. It wouldn't imply that everyone being dead is a good situation for them.

I guess the question would be if it doesn't mean anything, why do people get their panties in a twist on here?

Yeah, but you have to admit that it's kind of true, yeah? :P

I mean, you have to do it while killing every single thing on the map and doing all objectives, but you do retreat a lot when you're soloing. Fall back to certain bottlenecks, take enemies out as they go through it, run away to the next... it's what made dragoons such ****ing bastards. That and 'devices.'

Zero, there's no doubt that hit & run tactics are a part of what it takes to solo Gold, but the implication of his post went further than that.

Doesn't matter to me if you've got no banners or several. All it means is you've played enough since their inception to acquire them. Woohoo.

That being said, I only want the banner if it looks cool.

Then do it. Once you do, you're in a position to criticise. And don't come back with "I have a life" or "I don't have the time" or "blah blah blah". I don't like solo'ing either, and probably won't do it again because I didn't enjoy it, but I did it to prove a point to myself that I could do it, and learned quite a bit about the mechanics of the game as a result.

Patience is a skill too, and an important one at that. Finishing a Gold match in 20 minutes or 30 minutes doesn't give you more credits, but you're likely to die less by playing with some strategy.

Gotta love it when Silver players come on here and shoot their mouth off about people who did things they can't.

Some banners will eventuslly be achieved on their own, even if you're not trying to get them. The enemy mastery banners are examples of that.

Most banners require deliberate intent, such as using weapons/classes/powers you would never have used otherwise.

A few banners require some level of skill, like solo and map mastery (you have to play Gold & Platinum).

Yeah, it is totally easier to take on wave after wave of enemy by yourself instead of grinding out games to get crappy weapons challenges. Faster maybe.

It honestly doesn't mean that much but I think most that have a huge problem aren't skilled enough to do it.

If any banner should be intimidating it's the Death Guard banner, yup.

Is it sad that I've got that one twice now? Although to be fair the first time was before you needed to get all the husks as well, but it is my favourite only because it looks great (what can I say, I'm a sucker for the red and black).

Step one, Acquire somewhat hard to get banner.
Step two, Hand controller to terrible friend, sibling.
Step three, ruin banners reputation.

"Intimidated" probably isn't the right word. I'd agree with... pretty much the entire thread so far that they simply think you're not a team player.

I don't assume that personally, however--some of the best players I've known are Lone Wolves, it just means they can take care of themselves, not that they're not willing to revive or help make explosions happen that would give others more points. (That would be the "Score Wh*re" banner, coming soon to a challenge system near you! ;) )

I actually know at least two Lone Wolves who are absolutely fanatical revivers. If you go down, they will get you up in 90% of circumstances. That's at least as important to them as scoring. (Although, of course, revives do get you a score increase, much like doing missions. I wonder how many PUGgies don't realize stuff like that.)

Regardless, I think if you're going to make an unjustified snap decision about someone's personality, the banner is the first indicator you have. So a "Lone Wolf" banner can make people suspicious after one too many games where taking a cheap dragoon in the back means you'd damn well better revive yourself or you're going to be sitting there for the next 10 minutes watching some idiot run around the map, quite possibly until he eventually gets killed.

I think that's what some people envision when someone advertises themselves as a "Lone Wolf", however unfair it might be.

No titles mean anything - you just play and you get them.

Nonsense. Titles mean you have experience and you're not just straight off the bus. If you're a Lone Wolf, you at least know how to game the system enough to solo. If you're a Biotic God, you know how to create BEs. If you're a Mathemagician, you know how to create TBs. You have a feel for what the good abilities are as well.

Unlike N7 ranking, those titles have meaning. They may not be elitist enough for some people, but they let you know you're going into a game with someone who's experienced enough to at least have a basic understanding of the ins and outs of playing.

couldn't have said it better myself. just got the lone wolf banner last night. FAIR AND SQUARE btw, and i was worried about how misleading it might be as to my play style. personally, i pride myself on being able to keep as many as i can alive. i consider it as a skill on par with any other i've gained as a damage dealer in the games. my preferred way to play is with others, but i wanted to challenge myself to the solo banner runs and i did it. i'll probably never solo gold again, just not my thing but it was good to know that i could. anyone that i've run with, including Slimjim0725 and P51Mus7ang can attest that i'm all about the team. i'll rock the banner for awhile and see how things go with the randoms, but like Wynne said just don't blow it out of proportion!

Actually it's the only one that means more than sheer grinding.

You have to have at least the skill to finish a Gold match alone and without dying more than 5 times or getting insta-grabbed.

All the other challenges can be acquired by repeating the task until you get it. And if you lack skill, you can still get them by getting carried.

But I don't want to start another "N7 rank / XY banner thread" means nothing / everything. Those are the facts, nonetheless people with the banner can still suck by being ****s, literally playing like lone-wolves or sucking with most characters except the one they soloed with.

If its based on the last person I played with the Lone Wolf banner, then no. They just hid in the glitched camping area on Hydra and was the most worthless soul I've ever encountered in the history of ever. Bloody coward.

How do you get intimidated by other players in a Co-op game?

The better question is, do you want them to be intimidated by you? Would that make you feel like a stud muffin?

I once entered a lobby with the lone wolf banner and I immediately heard screams of fear and desperation over the mic: 'mommy, mommy a lone wolf is in my lobby'. So the answer to your question is yes I guess

Ever seen a lobby with four Lone Wolfs? When the game starts, would they scatter to all 4 corners of the map and each hold down their quadrant?

I am not an elitist. I have the banner. You will never find more of a team player than myself.
A couple of reasons I solo'd was because none of my friends were online and I wanted to try it.
I actually learned a TON acquiring the banner, and I now have the confidence when I am stuck alone on gold to finish the wave. It has made me a much better player.
I would be happy to have another lone wolf in my room.

Thats why Bioware added them. You have a title to show what you are good at, what you are proficient at. You dont have a title because it's awesome.

I dont know why everyone is making a fuss about the banners; I just like them cause they look cool. So no, I am not intimidated/awed/going to kick because of a lone wolf banner. Its still an impressive feat to be able to earn it, though I was slightly less impressed when I learned you don't have to solo platinum to get it. But soloing is still hard, and I myself prefer to play with other people.
