Are there Griffons in it or not?

Maker's breath, it's like talking to a child.
YES, there will be griffons in it, ok?!

As for the expansion, I was rather hoping for my good old character... not a new one... This starts becoming a nightmere : not Baldur's Gate spiritual successor : NEVERWINTER NIGHTS'!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOHHH!!!
Ahem...

Sheesh, that figures, I only just got the toolset to work today, so now I have to spend 5 million hours figuring out how it works...

I'm with you there. If I'm not playing the game or writing I might try to figure out what I want to do with it. I messed around with the NWN one enough that I understood it. I want to look for dialog in this one. I guess I just have to tinker with it more.

Lol, you guys are so gullible. Do you honestly believe an unknown site will get the first info on an unannounced expansion pack? Lets use our brains here.. Doesn't take a genius to..

Well, I don't know for sure, and there is also one reason I don't read newspapers : they lie.
And besides, maybe I am the only one to not want the expansion that the site tells that will be. God, if it was out so quickly, I wonder if it will be any good at all. So I say, I rather wait a few months more for a more official something... like HL2 EP3... Still nothing I know about that one, but am waiting...

I actually had an online module for a while.  I even had a cool cave that you couldn't enter w/out having a "key".  I played around a bit with the NWN 2 set, but gave up that whole game thanks to issues with the publisher...I figure a few hours worth of tutorials will at least get me started.  Play around with level/area building for a while before I start working on any kind of story work.

I've seens leaks and rumors start off on foreign and small sites come to be true in some shape or form quite a few times in the past. But in this case I see it as bogus as well, none of the info they gave really connects or makes sense.

Rumors don't exist (In the gaming world at least) to foretell the future. they're there so that devs can see the reaction the fans have towards it and act accordingly. (I hope)

so don't dwell on the reliability of the source, and get to speculating. it'll keep you busy until they actually come out with what they're coin out with.

I'm still puzzled as to why so many people *like* the miracle god baby angle. It's stupid and cliched and waaaay overdone. Morrigan would be so much more fun to explore as a future character if she weren't turned into a baby howitzer and relegated to the background.

Interesting.

An unconfirmed rumor about a possible expansion, and people are already complaining.

I've been complaining about everyone's speculative obsession over Morrigan's optional DirtyLittleBastard as a plot hook way before this sketchy expansion news was posted. At least give me that much credit.

This expansion can be good if we are allowed to play our own character and if it doesn't involve Morrigan's baby. Ok, perhaps we can get subtle hints about it and Morrigan. Perhaps we can even find them and persuade her to raise the baby together. But the God child is too important for a 10-15 hours expansions. It should be saved for a full sequel, as a possible origin.

The fact that it raises the level cap probably means that you can play your own character. A new PC character with a new origin is probably optional. I would imagine that you can play DA:Origins + the expansion using the new origin.
It doesn't make sense that the expansion will feature a new PC. No one is going to want that...

Kind of like people who believe that it's automaticly going to be done is some stupid and cliche way, even though we know jack about what this ritual is actually going to do, what is going to come about it, and what Morrigan has planned. Can't you give Gaider and his team a little credit, a little benefit of the doubt that maybe, just maybe they can spin this into something original and amazing.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about anything until it's confirmed, there have been rumours of BG3 and KoToR knocking about for years and they haven't materialised, you could say ME2 and DA:O are the successors but I'm sure you see my point.

Furthermore if it is true, then I'm dissapointed with the info so far, I don't want a new character, look at the anticipation for ME2, one major appeal IMO is that you get to be the same guy/gal u spent x hrs making just the way you wanted him/her. BG1 and 2 let you port your character across which was one of the things I loved at the time so I really, really hope that we keep the same character. I also like the compainions we have, new PC suggests new NPCs, by all means add some new ones or even take away one or two but I won't look forward to it as much if the friendships I make become irrelevant or get severed altogether. They did it with NWN2 (Yes I know not a Bioware game) and I liked the new characters well enough but didn't enjoy it because I was missing my old friends/lover.

I'm sure the baby will feature at some point, hell why mention it in the epilogue otherwise?

So in all I find the announcement of the rumour a bit meh, hope an expansions (would rather a sequel) doesn't take too long but if that's what's being offered *shrug* I'm not childish enough to say I won't buy it because I prob will, but I won't be in a hurry to get it.

This I agree with, though hopefully not exactly what the article makes it sound like.

I'm hoping you'll have the option of continuing your character rather than be forced to create a new one. I'm not talking about just importing your stats, gear, and appearance but play as the person who saved Fereldan.  I'm also hoping it takes place after the events of DA1.

I also doubt Morrigan's story will be the focus on this; it's too big of a deal to wrap up in a 15 hour expansion.

I'm more inclined to believe that this is a continuation for the protagonist of Origins than a fresh character; assuming the rumors are true. I suppose BioWare could pull a Shadows of Undrentide and create a new protagonist, but there's not much of a point.

This is exactly what I fear will happen. A copout way of making expansions, can you even call that an expansion? Sure it needs the original game installed to play but only because it uses the same game engine. To me Shadows of Undrentide was not an expansion but a completely new game just made using the NWN engine, cause that is how it felt.

I hope they dont copout like that cause SoU was the worst "expansion" I have ever bought.

Granted they are taking info from a foreign site but it is poorly written.

Is it OC for new Origin with a 13-15hr expansion (taking into account part of the 15 might include the new origin)

Or is it just New Origin/Character for us to play with their own story counting as an expansion?

If the former, cool, if the latter as Lynx said baaaad

Doesn't make sense if it is the latter for their to be a lift on the level cap unless they start at say level 15-20. Also if it is a case of OC characters get to move their characters over to play the 'expansion' then surely it is either limiting it to anyone that survived the final battle or the expansion is like the current DLC and taking place before the final battle.

Whilst it could be said the fact no one from Bioware has confirmed this would indicate it is fake, the fact they haven't denied it leaves it wide open. But from what I've gathered over on the ME boards, Bioware has been closed this week so probably won't get any true confirmations if it is true or fake till next week.

One thing to point out if it is true and if the original Origins can take part in the expansion and it is based after the events of the OC.

Bioware would in theory have to confirm what the 'canon' ending was. David Gaider a while ago did state that they would consider doing a 'canon ending' rather than an 'ME style ending', so I would think that we would get that information before we had any DLC or Expansions that took place AFTER the events of the OC.

If it adds a new origin, then it might not just be a new character. Yes, you might have to play that new character as a sort of separate game, but you may be able to start a new normal campaign with that new origin.

If it's a true expansion, it may also be a new expansion that involves adding more gameplay options, rather than one that adds a lot story- and dungeon-wise. Sometimes, new gameplay can really make the whole game seem fresh again, though I will admit for an RPG, I'd prefer more story, dungeon, and dialogue to adding to/changing the gameplay style (hard to word that to make sense...).

It could also be that if this is an expansion, the new playable character is a new NPC added to your team. Or it could be that there's no expansion coming at all. As others have mentioned, Bioware has yet to announce anything, which, if they were releasing it as soon as March, it would seem that they would have.

Why do so many people think Morrigan is so critical to the story? Bioware already said that people overrate her importance especially in a sequel. All of these comments or threads saying that an expansion or sequel about the demon child - give me a break. Not everyone did that choice, so it isn't exactly generic.

Agreed I reckon that if she IS in a sequel, it will be a minor role in comparison to the role she had in this one.
