My point wasn't whether there were similarities between the Chantry and Christianity, it's that a Christians are hardly the only religion to require celibacy among more devout members of faith.

The scene with the Desire Demon in DAO made it pretty clear, templars could not get married... now suddnly they can?

That's a big retcon, but I suppose theoretically his problem could have been that he wouldn't have been allowed to spend any time with his wife even if he had one. He seems to have wanted to be around for them.

I think your question's been answered and now I'm not sure what you're continuing to go on about. It's a pretty minor retcon, but given that there's nothing explicitly stated in DA:O that they can't get married, then it has to be an implicit assumption. But again, still a minor retcon, as retcons go.

I feel quite slow that I didn't get that idea
I thought it was just him not being able to attract or get laid since he was in a tower in the middle of lake. I thought if they had a brothel close by or weren't in the middle of the lake, they probably be doing the naughthy if they didn't do it with the mages

It's quite possible that Templars are forbidden to marry after they become templars, but that Thrask and Wesley and any others had families prior to becoming templars.  The order of events is never spelled out.  Heck, the specifics of their vows are never spelled out, either, the only thing we have indicating that templars are supposed to be celibate is that one dude in the Circle tower in Origins who was trying to leave the Order so he could get married and have a family.

It may even be simpler than that--maybe taking lyrium the way templars do makes you sterile, so the problem with the Circle Tower guy was that he wanted to stop taking the lyrium and needed permission to do that, which permission was denied because it would make him sick and he'd never be free of the craving.  It's possible that Templar vows have NOTHING to do with sex or marriage and it's just the lyrium addiction that makes having a family post-vows impossible.

No. They can marry after becoming Templars if they get Chantry permission to do so.

My point was that Templars follow the Chantry which is based upon the Christian religion.

I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for the link. It still doesn't really explain why the Templar in the Broken Circle was so despondent that he succumbed to a fantasy with a Desire Demon, but maybe he just wasn't all that good at dating.

Could it be that after consuming lyrium over a period of time (who knows what effect it has) that he is unable (or have difficulty) to have a family much like a warden with the taint. While he could marry there would be no children from that marriage.

I'd assume it's just that many templars are those raised in the chantry, who take a more religious view on abstaining from sex until marriage, and templars have difficulty being married (they likely need special dispensation)
