I don't know if it's just me. Maybe I've gotten used to less cluttered forums. But these forums just seem....not very well put together. There's too much stuff everywhere, and there isn't a good amount of forum sections so you can sectionalize categories of topics efficiently.
Again, maybe it's just me....but I would expect the forums for a big game like this to be put together a little bit more efficiently and professionally.
These forums seem pretty clunky and cluttered

Oh my and you managed to gather all that in under two hours!
My diagnosis is: You are just not used to the forums yet. Give it a few days. If the problems persist, call a real doctor.

How much time do YOU think it takes to notice that a forum is cluttered, runs slowly, has tons of bugs, was rushed out, and has more tools and widgets that are unnecessary than actual NEEDED functional tools/forums?
I could have looked at these forums for less than a minute and deduced that.

This is not just a forum site, it's also a social network, ala Failbook. It's got all those extra options to cater towards that aspect.
It runs slowly because of the massive amounts of data passing through it at the moment, given the imminent/just-passed launch of DA:O, and the continuously updating character statistics from the game. This will pass once the initial rush dies down, and:
There is a nice big blue 'beta' printed at the very top of every page on the site. This is why it's clunky, and in conjunction with the release of DA:O contributes to the slowness experienced by all users at the moment. It has not been rushed out at all, it's being tested in a live environment. Perhaps not standard practice for forum systems (though IPB3.0 had a live beta, including a version you could install on your site, and that's the largest commercial forum system around), but it is fairly common in the computing industry to do beta launches.
Hopefully that explains things a bit.

It runs slowly because of the current server load [which will be increased], it has minor bugs [most of which are due to the runs slowly bit]. It has been up publicly for weeks, and months in beta before that.
Also, this is a social network, not just a bulletin board, a lot of us actually enjoy the features provided, like blogs, groups and projects. They help out with actually organizing relevant data without losing it in five minutes on just a basic forum.
The interface is clear, is it not? Giant post button seems to do the trick here. Search through and for forums is available on every forum page. What else do you need?

Pge numbers would be nice, so I can click on pages of thread to actually read multipage threads.....that'd be pretty nice...and basic.
