Op obsidian will release Project eternity which seems pretty awesome and promising to me. Obsidian sometimes kicks so much ass!
And looks like BG to me.
Here is your BG game!

If this is something you wanted to say solely to Bioware, couldn't you of just sent this in a pm to Priestly, Gaider, Laidlaw or Darrah instead of making it a full-blown subject-less thread?

*Sigh* Maker preserve me...

Because when you put a number after the name you should adhere to the spirit of the original game.
Otherwise we might get "DA4 the my little pony adventures" next.

Would that be bad?

If Baldur's Gate means a party-based game with involved companions that get to know one another better as they undergo some shared ordeal and that contains by utilizing such features as party banter, romances and companion side quests, then you might see both DAO and DA2 as a spiritual successor.

Exactly this. That kind of marketing tagline promises a certain tone more than it promises any specific set of features. And tone is almost completely subjective, so you can take it as promising everything or nothing - it's just advertising.

Fair enough if the end product isn't to your tastes, but that doesn't mean that whoever built the marketing plan didn't remember what they said. Or that the product didn't deliver on its promise for other people.

I'd rather it be DA4 Adventure Time, with Jake the Mabari and Finn the Forced Human Protagonist.

If you want the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, why not this:

http://www.baldursgate.com/

It's the real thing. It's made by people who were at least partially responsible for BG and understand what many people want in an RPG. Show your support by doing a preorder. It's what I did.

As much as I like Origins this line wasn't more than a marketing tagline because BG and Origins don't have many things in common.
They likely wanted to market it towards the "oldschooly" fans with that line, as they likely wanted to market DAII  towards the "modern & cool" audience with the catch phrase "think like a general, fight like a spartan".

You just shouldn't give anything on marketing.
