I made a comment on your DeviantArt page and I just don't have the heart to copy paste the comment but I'll just say I'm still rather choked up about how you depicted this scene. Its all so beautiful and as I stated on my DA comment, I felt he'd think about FemWarden just too keep his mind off it all, as well. Welp, time to go and eat some cookie dough. 'Tis too much for an hardcore romantic such as I.

Comic - Sacrifice
The comic is about the Dark Ritual from Alistair's prespective, as the (un)lucky bastard who is about to impregnate Morrigan in an attempt to save the life of the Grey Warden who slays the Archdemon on the morrow.

It always bothered me that the scene that leads up to the ritual recycles the romantic cutscene sequence that was more suitable for Wardens who were either in love or at least good friends with Morrigan. Alistair detested her throughout the game, and while some argued that he looked terrified of her in the sequence, imho the ambivalence didn't quite translate well on-screen. So, I took little bit of liberties here and there in the pages to depict the kind of distress the dudebro should be feeling at the prospect of such a dubious affair.

It's fantastic, Aimo. This is how it should have been in the game. I agree 100%, the cutscene was made for the PC/Morrigan, not for Alistair/Morrigan. Alistair approaches the Dark Ritual with a totally different motivation and attitude and it should have been shown by a different cutscene.

Big Archdemon is Big (because that's an Archdemon on  Page 5, right?)

Also the whole flashback sequence was... just... brilliant!! Althrough I feel it would be more appropreate in case that Lady Aeducan does not agree to the ritual and instead Alistair sacrifices himself to slay the Archdemon to protect his love... But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, the whole Dark Ritual scene bugs me- and my Cousland always romances Morrigan and it plays out worse that way IMO. It just seems like they had to slice and dice it down from what they might have intended which is a shame since its arguably one the more important scenes in the game and basically everyone gets the same cookie cutter version of it.

And even though Alistair doesn't care for Morrigan too much, he's still a guy- you can't tell me her didn't enjoy the DR just a teeny tiny little bitB)

Servant of Nature: Thanks! The height dynamic between Brosca and Leliana is fun to work with :3 As for Alistair, perhaps by realizing that he has a chance to save the one he loves, he summons the drive to see the deed through to the end. Can be sappy, but ehhh.

Miri1984: Thanks! Yeah, that part is a bit of a bummer, but unless modders can do something about it...*googily eyes*

Nadiasama: The instinct to save the one you love can is capable of spurring someone to go all out, which I'd like to think the case is here. I want cookie dough too T_T

Arlana Tabris: The cutscene recycling probably came down to the issue of resources, which is understandable. That means more room for me to draw interpretations

Rovay: My Lady Aeducan thankfully is a selfish dwarfette, having made corresponding decisions in certain parts of the game. So naturally after all she had gone through, she wanted for Alistair and herself to have a future, damn the consequences. Plus, Morrigan succesfully swayed her, the witch's argument to preserve a pure version of the Old God pulled at her sentimental heartstrings, which is what you get for reading too many codex entries...but that's another story.

Brockololly: Of couse he does, or else how can he...ahem...consummate the ritual? But I suppose he'll feel terribly bad about it at the same time

Sacrifice definitely had emotional impact. Whoever said that the flashbacks would have worked better with the Warden Commander Achievement, I agree, but still an amazing job. You know its good when someone can't find many words to describe it (ie me).

It is so much fun to see someone else "filling in the blanks". I was so disappointed in what could have been a great moment in the game. I always thought Alistair would return to your room with bloody symbols painted on him demanding you help him in getting this @%$# off. I love your version.



Playing as a male warden is worse. You get no sense that it means anything to her since the Dark Ritual is the same scene as Alistair's. They should have been different.

Aimo that was beautiful and it made me see the DR in a different way. Because I have played DA sooo many times through the DR didnt really effect me that much anymore,it was just something I(or Al rather) had to do for us both to survive. But seeing your interpritation of it,it made me realise the secrifice and the emotions Al had to go through.



Alistair's facial expressions and the flashbacks were perfect.It really made me tear up. Bioware can learn a thing or two from you Aimo
