So... when is the rest of Thedas gonna get gunpowder?

Surely those evil c**ty bullheads won't be able to keep it all to their sweet selves for ever.

Who knows. Project Eternity has guns; they apparently suck at everything and some, but can pierce the arcane veil mages use to protect themselves. I think they would be an interesting addition, when the lore opens an oportunity for them to exist.

Is lyrium sand a gunpowder substitute?? (I am not suprised that gunpowder, true gunpowder, was innovated by the Qun- given that they shun magic in all forms, one could assume they are more scientifically sophisticated).

The qunari seem to be doing a good job keeping it under wraps, but it's just a matter of time until either someone else comes up with it independently or a defector slips under their radar with it. They'd probably do their best to kill that discover/defector, they may even succeed. But that doesn't guarantee that the knowledge won't slip into some goverment's hands before they can do anything, especially if it doesn't happen as a result of a leak. Or the Chantry's, which is even worse for them.

Didn't that Dwarf in Awakening have an explosive power and in the epilogue it said that assassins were sent after him? I'm not sure if the two explosives are the same though.
