No, no it isn't. This must be burned with fire. Or be a proper fit.

Along with female Kossith lovers and Tim Curry returning as a VO.
What's your point?

I'm kinda glad I've never tried MoTa. Dear god, Bioware, make proper, distinct male and female clothing for MC for such scenes. It should be a priority. Make some guests clones if you need, but dear god that's just horrible.

Well, until we know more about the game there really isn't much else to talk about but silly minor details.  (Please no one take offense at that)

Right? I scoff at whoever looked at that outfit and approved it. Clearly that person has no taste in fashion or design.

On a similar note, I'm hoping for corsets in Dragon age 3 as they tend to amplify and shape the bust quite exquisitely.

it would be, if it weren't for the fact that 9/10 robes i picked up as a magehawke in da2 were that gawd-awful, gag-me-elaborate, tacky design!  then, they stuck bethany in it on a couple of my playthroughs as a melehawke too!

it looked like they were both dressed in the curtains of a very tatstelessly decorated house.  and teal?

and if the fact that they were ugly wasn't enough, both ladies were supposed to be battlemages, not drag queens.

i dream of being able to make a bonfire out of all the scarlet-dyed monstrosities i found in kirkwall.

See, a lot of that is a matter of personal taste - I loved the blue robes Bethany wore after going to the Circle.  Thought they were pretty, and the colour is one of my favourites.

I think, perhaps, that there is an important point in this thread, and it isn't exactly "give us prettier clothes."  (Pretty is subjective, to start with!)  The truly important point is - don't leave the female protagonist to be an afterthought that you have to rush to have something for, Blizz.  That's the thing that stands out to me - as much as I liked the fact that my f!Hawke wasn't stuck in a dress, the reason behind the clothes being the same, and the way they were apoorly fitted to her model, is pretty irritating; namely, they didn't bother dressing the female protagonist until they were just about out of time and had to half-ass it.

Treat the female protagonists as equal in the future, please, Blizz.  Put as much time into them as you put into the male version.

I won't rest until the official mage hat of DA3 is a propeller beanie. (Which can be enchanted with a flight spell. Unfortunately, no one thought of a chin strap, so the beanie keeps going higher and higher, eventually going into space, or whatever is above the planet.)

Also I think it would be great if everybody in Orlais wears impractical runway clothing. Who cares if you can barely walk, you look great! It would also make combat much more interesting if people could trip. Even the darkspawn should be wearing better clothing in Orlais. Their name will be changed to the fabspawn. (I tried to think of a better name...)

Re to the OP: Even a slit skirt is ridiculously hard for mobility. Pants make more sense.

And I'm with some other previous posters, it's a breath of fresh air that the devs didn't say, "Oh hey, a girl, she HAS to wear a dress." Looks like the elf isn't wearing a dress, either, so it's not like LadyHawke stands out that badly. I'm not crazy about the color/pattern design, but it's Orlais and evidently those colors are in fashion. In actual medieval/Renaissance times, real world people wore things that looked even weirder.

Maybe, in such a situation, it'd be good to have an option. That way, people couldn't complain "I didn't get to wear a dress," or "I had to wear a dress."

You do realize that corsets made of the materials available in Dragon Age would be very stiff, uncomfortable, and generally unrealistic to have on a combat character... right?

... Because I really. Don't. Want. Corsets.  Not on my main character.  On NPCs, sure, why not?  NPCs around town aren't generally being physically active.  But they'd make zero sense on the female protagonist.  Modern corsets might allow a woman to breathe, but the old corsets are why women ended up stereotyped as fainting all the time--they couldn't breathe so they'd just pass out.  Their organs would be displaced and damaged over time by the use of a corset, even.  Corsets are not fighting gear, ever, period. Bioware's put out somewhat sane armor for women thus far and I, as an actual woman, don't want them changing that just because someone wants to see boobs.  If they put women in corsets as combat gear, then they'd better put every single male in a speedo, is all I can say.  The effectiveness for combat would be comparable.

High heels also don't make sense and are harmful to the female body and yet we can see them in many games f.e. in ME3 Ashley wears them.

Personally, Considering that we are playing as a person in charge of what is basically a military force. I think neither should be wearing really fancy clothes. Give them both Great Looking Dress uniforms that fit their body. The female could get away with a light skirt with a length from any where above the ankle to about 6 inches or so below the knee so that the skirt wouldn't drag. Remember, these aren't suppose to be designed for serious fighting. They are for events where you had to mingle with the higher ups/nobles.

Don't know if this is the same subject but I found some of the armor to be a bit too genderized in the past. Armor on females and males realistically should be practically identical. The amount of padding really neutralizes the look and armor that is curved around the chest resembling cleavage would A. break your ribs if you fell down forward on them and B. would point to everyone saying "Hey my breasts are here, my heart should be right near them, shoot an arrow here!"

However, I understand some people want style and that's part of it. for me it was a bit distracting.

On the topic of outfits, I don't see the problem with fancy dresses as long as there's options. If my inquisitor is someone who doesn't care for fanciful things, I'd like clothing to resemble those attitudes.

Does she really!? I didn't notice but I definately was put off with how sexualized she seemed in ME3.

Armor also tends to press breasts flat anyways.

Another practical problem with curvaceous armor is that it provides a nice place for a pointed weapon to catch on and penetrate, right where you don't want one to be.

Are you joking?

The materials in Thedas are able to provide great support, durability, and protection while being as lightweight as you please.

Our heroes are able to march around the country and fight for hours in full plate. Isabela receives decent protection from something that looks like lingerie.

1) We don't know the position or title of the PC.
2) In DA:O we were nominally in charge of what was basically a military force.

Isabella doesn't get hit, that is the whole point of her fighting style... That being said, I agree with metal obviously not weighing so much as in the real world. Still it would help on the fact that a corest off metal (which it would likely be), not matter how much it weighs is a terrible idea because of the breathing and the fact that it would make the female stiffer.

I just don't ever want to see my  hero in a corset. It is an intrusment of torture which she doesn't need.
