Alas I haven't finished skyrim main game yet.  I am probably 95% done and being a completionist in that game is brutal.

I have to say, reading through this thread, I got caught up in this pants vs. no pants debate; and, Isabela jokes aside, I saw a lot of comments that I agreed with, and a lot of things that I disagreed with.

First off, I've taken a number of Women's Studies courses in college, and I've changed my mind about feminism enough times in my life to make my own head spin. One thing I'm certain about, for myself at least, is that every feminist wave has been about choice, and the freedom for a woman to make those choices for herself. To say that preferring to wear a dress or preferring to be "girly" is "outdated" is, to me, incredibly offensive and runs counter to the core message of feminism as I see it. It limits a woman's choice just as much as saying that a woman MUST wear a dress.

More on topic, I'd love more choice in terms of what our characters can wear in the game. I always play as female characters, and I personally didn't mind Shepard's dress. It suited my favorite Shepard just fine; but again, I have other Shepards who wouldn't be caught dead in that dress. An alternate option for pants would have been ideal.

I did mind Hawke's outfit because - as others have said - it simply looked...not quite right on her. I wouldn't have minded a dress (uh...except the Marie Antoinette ensemble posted above...no thanks), and I wouldn't have minded better-fitting pants. But yeah, I get it. Cost and time, etc. The way I see it, finding a balance between pants/no pants is key, especially if we're limited to only one outfit for each sex. Tallis' outfit = good balance for a female protagonist, imo. It's feminine, but not overly.

And now I feel like I'm playing Dragon Age dress-up. Gah.

while there are a thousand issues more important to me...

i WOULD have liked to see more pretty things for both my fem wardens and hawkes.

but on the pants thing...i prefer pants, even if the occasion is fancy. just not ugly pants.

if the occasion is NOT fancy...i don't want any of the other clothes to be ugly either. i seriously want the option to light any set of scarlet-dyed robes i run into on FIRE.

Agreed, that was stupid. I find it hilarious that someone who calls herself a feminist can tell something like that lol.

As for Mota's outfit, it was ugly as hell.

This is the type of response I'd expect from a 12 year old.

First: Beautiful isn't remotely synonymous with naked. If you're attempting to be some old world prude who can't stand the idea of women showing a little skin, then forgive me and disregard what I said because I've misinterpreted you.

Second: While it's true that english isn't my native tongue, I believe I have a good enough grasp of the linguistics to say Naked, Nude, bare, unclothed and au naturel when and where I feel it appropriate.

If you want more naked females, then feel free to make a new thread and exclaim as such but that's not what 'I' want, so I ask that you never again attempt to put words in my mouth. Thanks!

On topic : I am glad to see I'm not alone in feeling that the women's clothing in Dragon age to date hasn't been on par. Hopefully if we keep pushing ladies, we can finally get something respectable in da3.

Also this thread has been an entertaining read as others have mentioned. :kissing:

I think when people say "outdated" in this thread they refer to the core concept that some clothing and behaviour is "feminine" and "masculine", not what one might want to wear. Or that some particular behaviour is "girly". Which would be correct -- if "feminine" and "masculine" refers to "worn or exhibited by gender X" then once you establish settings in which members of the gender wear/exhibit all kinds of clothing/behaviour, this kind of gender-based classification ceases to exist. And a dress or makeup isn't then any more "feminine" than pants or going barefaced.

I'll redive in here.
I like pants over dresses. A lot.
But I get that some people like dresses and being "pretty". And that's cool too. (feminist argument, I don't care, as long and I'm not be FORCED because of gender, and being treated differently blah blah blah I don't want to start this again...)

But there is NO happy medium between this (dat ass  - the stretching makes it look like she took it from mHawke's closet.....):

And the usual modded response (dat uniboob )

And I can only find one mod (that I can't find anymore) for pants that did fit FemHawke's model (because I like pants and I think robbing a mansion or fighting through the castle is more realistic in pants - including mages!!!!). And it was honestly, close to the only one (unless I wore my armor to the party)

I want pants on Hawkes moreso because the modded community's response is usually "put her in a dress!" than "put her in some pants!"

Sorry but dresses, high heels, lipstick ect... are feminine clothing/makeup products manufactured for & with women in mind, and have been for the last thousand years.Everyone is free to wear what they want to wear, but that doesn't change the fact certain apparel is gender specific in design.

The see-through top... that white ruffled blouse... Oooo that is precious. If only those pants could become a black skirt, it would be simply delectable.

I liked the outfit Hawke wore on both genders, maybe if the trousers had been more fitting it would look better on Fem Hawke but then it would look odd with Male Hawke thus it being a catch 22 situation... However it does seem an easy fix if they have time for it, in the next game should the occasion arise; an option for both genders to wear either a dress or suit would be preferable but in my eyes- not necessary.

I did not like the costume in MotA. Based on the description of the DLC before release I was expecting a pretty dress for my FemHawke, so I guess my expectations are to blame (well, the costume is still hideous, but I would have been less disappointed ifI had lowered my expectations).

I quickly found a great mod with several dresses thanks to a very helpful modder here on BSN. It was to late for my first Hawke, but my second Hawke looked great. I am so glad that I play on a PC.
