My favorite armor set from DA2, bar none, is the Fugitive's Mantle. I thought it looked fan-tas-tic on my fem Hawkes and I wear it as long as possible. I don't even care that it's not hi-res. I also really liked the female Grey Warden armor. Bethany looks great in it, and feminine, while still being combat appropriate. I think it's really doable to meet both needs with such armor.

Agreed.  Both armors look nice as well as badass and reasonably practical.  I've always thought the standard mage robes, with all their belts and fur trim, look like they'd be a problem in a fight, especially if you're throwing around lightning and fire.  Makes more sense anyway for an apostate to wear something less like standard robes anyway.

Erm. I think attire is dependent on the character. Or the player.

My warrior PC would feel more comfortable in armour than a dress, even at a party.

My mage would prefer something pink and froofy.

Bioware must thus provide an extensive wardrobe for us to choose from, and dialogues will change depending on what we wear! :D

That outfit on Fem Hawke looks so hilarious that I don't want it to be changed, I even sort of hope we can see something similar in the next game now.

Maybe your character should get a choice- a diplomatic response would be a dress, an aggressive response would be to wear your armour, and a sarcastic response would be to proudly wear that hilarious abomination.

If the mages have to wear the same silly hats they did in DAO and DA2, then templars ought to have to wear crinoline.

First and foremost DO NOT force my female PC into a dress!
Second so long as it is an OPTION to wear one i'd be ok with that. hell they could even make a whole what to wear at the ball quest with some pretty dresses and cool pant suits to pick from. I think we'd all win that way right?
Third I do not have to wear makeup or dresses to be feminine any more wearing pants and no makeup means that i want to be a man nor does it make me masculine.

Like Sims? Maybe we go buy the dress from a store expansion pack then choose it for the party?

Eh, I'd say, "Bioware, make a separate female outfit, and stick with pants" because modders wil put her in a dress anyway.

For console people though, poor people are SOL when it comes to that.

You're going to be SOL with DA3 regardless of your platform.

You underestimate the modding community. They are a powerful force.

'Console versus PC' are always productive topic divergents. Head............DESK.

When I hear "Come to my fancy party, Hawke!" I think "Oooh, I get to wear a dress!", not an oddly colored pant + puffy-shirt ensemble. I don't think fem!Hawke should be put into a dress because she's a female, I think she should be put into a dress because *I* would wear a dress.

If you, as your Hawke, would wear pants then I think you should wear pants. But then you have that option whilst I do not.

If BW could just put a small clothing store in DA. With a reasonable selection. Nothing major...I could buy my own darn clothes for a fancy party...if we go to one.

Or even some casual wear.

Note: I have no intention, though, of buying any type of DLC for this. So, don't get any bright ideas with that, BW.

They said the same thing about DA2, and the Nexus has a lot of DA2 mods.

Honestly, if a person wants to mod a game on PC, they can do it.

The software developers might make it tougher, but there are just as (or even moreso) intelligent people on the other side.

DA2 had advantage of using file formats very similar to DAO. That meant bulk of the work for things like model converters was already done (for DAO) by the time it's shipped. The areas for which there was no 3rd party tools (like cutscenes or dialogues) remained closed to modding, if i'm not mistaken.

DA3 is bringing what's largely going to be entirely new systems/formats. That means months if not years of work that'd need to be put into reverse engineering and/or tools production. Frankly, i'm skeptical if the game will generate enough long-term interest to see any of that surfacing -- that happens more with the sandbox sort of games than the "1-2 playthroughs and you've seen most of it" story-heavy titles.

Even *if* it does, how many people are realistically going to be interested in making/playing mods for it by then?

I guess I'm being foolishly hopeful that if they pick nothing else from DAO they'll at least publish a toolset.

There are still people publishing NEW mods for DAO and DA2. I wouldn't say "modding is dead" but I wouldn't give up hope completely. And some people start reverse engineering out-of-box, not "do first playthrough then fix things"

And we don't know how much interest it will generate when it is still one year away.

And DAO is by no means a "sandbox" game. Not like Skyrim, at least. (if you define "sandbox" as eh, do whatever you want-ish). DAO is linear, and people are still replaying it (I've replaying it for two years, and replaying DA2 since it was released) or modding it.

That's correct, but DAO had the advantage of actually releasing the toolset for public to use. If it didn't, you'd probably see modding for it as limited as it's for DA2 (if that much at all -- like mentioned, DA2 benefitted from tools already made for DAO)

Also DA2 had an override folder that made using mods easy, something DA3 likely wont have.

I was so disapointed when I saw my character wasn't wearing a pretty dress to that party!
I kept thinking ''gosh, I bet every other guest is judging me right now!'', (Guess I'll fit right in as an orlesian in DA3!)
Well of course it's just a game... but from a roleplaying point of view, what a shame! Haha...

I wanted Lady Hawke covered in ruffles and there to be a scrunching sound effect with every step she made. The direct dialogue options would have been priceless.
