Liara was not forced on you. You had the options to not interact with her. Please stay on topic, This is not a hating topic. I expect you to respect of the character not disrespectful.
Yeah..., no you didn't. Not in ME3 at least. Thessia is the greatest example of this.
And Miranda, Jacob or Garrus were forced on you in ME2, and Ashley/Kaiden in ME1.
Ashley and Kaiden in ME1? A bit, but that is because some decisions were centered around them.
.
But Jacob, Miranda and Garrus? How so? Miranda and Jacob were cerberus operatives, Miranda was the XO of the ships. All their "forced" involvement comes from that, it was never personal. They were as forced as TIM was, or Hackett.
And Liara is the Shadow Broker. She's also relevant to the plot (for exampe the beacon dialogues).
And Talimancers (the character who is a squadmate in all three games) complaining about "Liara the writers pet" is just hilarious
Yes, but the problem is that it's not only that. She comes more than once to Shepard cabin to talk like they were best friends, you have to bring her to Thessia no matter what, and to Eden Prime... the overall tone of a lot conversations with her is wrong. You can't say what you want.

That was supposed to be the point, but it came across too much as simple armchair moderation, which is dreadfully boring. Deleted.Cthulhu42 wrote...
They can't; Priestly locked it after all the Miranda fans had some kind of civil war.
You don't seem to have been impressed by Chris' actions (or rather the lack thereof), and I assure you I have an equally low opinion of them.

2) Liara had the misfortune of having to be introduced to new players as well as having to be there for the old players. Hence the schizo behavior and at times it seemed like she was written by two different people. Variable passing from one module to the next? Oy.
3) A Liaramancer from ME1 and from LotSB and who was courting her in ME3 would expect her to barge in without knocking. One who was not romancing would not. There should have been a variable check for behavior. There was not -- that's poor scripting.
4) FemShep? Traynor was throwing herself at me during ME3 until I got "the lock" on the Citadel. She thought it was going to be a night of chess and sex. Then the lock with Liara made it chess.
5) She is one of the main supporting characters in the story. But for the new players, for the maleShep (Cortez, Ashley, Liara) she was one of three romance options. Just like for new players, she was one of three romance options for femShep players (Traynor, Liara, Kaiden). four if you include Allers.
In ME1 it was the ninjamancing between Kaiden and Liara for femShep. I was playing the story and next thing I knew there was the confrontation. I thought I was romancing Liara. Okay. I guess I made a wrong dialogue selection at one point.
So she's letting the new player know she's available, but this is annoying for the player who say romanced Ash or Miri or Jack. But ME3 was a great place to start.
I understand the annoyance. They could have brought the new player up to speed by having a "Genesis" type comic that went through the story so far from ME1, ME2, and through the DLC, and yes charge and extra $10 for it available day one, where the new player could make the choices and make the romance choices and stuff so they could write this stuff better. That way we could have more consistent behaving characters. Also have it set up so you could load that old two year old save game file into it and it would go through that as well and tell you what you did, even though you see that stuff listed. Seeing a list and hearing it play out is different since people learn things differently.

A character who isn't even a romance option in the first game, who doesn't show up until halfway through ME2, and doesn't show up until the last 1/3 of ME3 being more of a writers pet then Liara? You're out of your freaking mind.
Does Tali have less content than other squadmates in ME1? no
Tali has a recruitement mission, a loyalty mission and several dialogues on the Normandy in ME2. She has much more content than Liara here.
Liara has more content in ME3.
They have more or less the same amount of screentime, if at all.

Haters and Fanboys can both be equally terrible. If you wanted to see fanboys at their worst, you should've been on the RE6 forums on Gamefaqs when that game was released.

On Menae, once you meet Garrus, he's forced on you from that point through the rest of the mission. Liara goes back to the Normandy. There went my crowd control.
Eden Prime is From Ashes -- well it's picking up a PROTHEAN. Why wouldn't you take your PROTHEAN EXPERT with you? Just sayin'.
I'm usually taking her and James at this point anyway -- I'm playing an infiltrator. Garrus' AI was not great.
Tali must go with you on Rannoch missions.
Liara must go with you on Thessia mission.
You must take EDI on Cronos.
Shepard must go with you on Earth. Wait you are Shepard. I was hoping I could send Conrad on that one. Damn!
Liara has a some extra story content, yes. They put some of the Thessia mission on the ship because the mission on the planet was such a fail. But it's hardly a ton extra. EDI has a lot of story content too.
I think the hate is just overboard.

It's clear it has little to do with the actual quality of the character. Hence everyone clamoring for more Miranda now.
