Humanity had the archive for over 30 years to research, and didn't find the blueprints for a superweapon. Liara found them in less than 6 months. And Liara is not a SB level information broker because an advanced synthetic can datamine computers faster than an organic? That's your argument?

.
No.
.
I'm saying she is not a top tier Information because with the same info she had TIM figured out the Prothean Beacon on Thessia, while she didn't.
.
Illusive Man: Shepard.

Shepard: How did you find this place?

Illusive Man: The Archives, or did your Shadow Broker miss that one?
.
That and the fact she don't give you any important information thoughtout the entire game, only Traynor does. And she didn't know what was going on Horizon, which was a pretty big deal for a SB to know.
.
And about Liara archeological skills... given her picture of the prothean race I don't think she was very good at that either. The fact she found the Crucible devices have to do with her skills, obviously, but also has to do with the alliance investing a lot to find it.

*shrugs* If I can't talk about Vega, Garrus, Kaidan, or Cortez, why should this thread stay open?

Did Dr. Eva store that data locally, or did she just transmit it? Since the data was being transmitted, I don't see any particular reason for her to keep a local copy. There's no upside to doing so; it's a security risk with no reward.

Maybe I better rewatch the scene. My take was that TIM got some info that the Alliance did not.

As for the general topic, does Liara actually get much more screen time than other companions? She gets a wacky psychic interaction at the end, and she's on the Mars mission, which makes sense since she is, after all, the local Prothean expert. Other than that, she's pretty typical in numbers of interactions.

And if she is overused, then making her a better Shadow Broker would make things worse, not better.

It's not just a matter of 'finding' the blueprints, they still have to be translated and whatnot.

Eva Core - A.I.
Liara - organic

Of course the A.I. is a bit faster. And then Eva erased the data so Liara couldn't study it.

Traynor is a communications specialist...it's her job (and not Liara's) to monitor comm traffic for the Alliance. Liara relies on her agents. The SB sits in front of some monitors and waits for reports (and buys/sells information).
Being the SB is more about organizing, that's explained in LotSB. Any agent on Horizon would be indoctrinated/killed... and dead/indoctrinated agents don't report back.

Yes, Hackett allowed Liara to study the beacon on Mars. That's their whole investment.

Eva just got the data, the analyzes was done by TIM. We are not talking about processing capabilities here. And the data she got was available to Liara after EDI took control of the body. Shepard dialogue in this scene make it clear.

That interesting: she didn't got the information because it was hard to do so. What a great SB she was indeed.

She's a terrible character. While I understand you love her don't tell me that I can't hate her. Because she's incredibly bland.

Liara is easily my favourite character in the franchise! And probably my favourite gaming character of all time.

The game flat out tells you we didn't get everything on Mars.

Hackett: Did you get the data.
Shep: Most of it. He downloaded some before I could stop them.

The data TIM downloaded (and Eva destroyed) is lost for us. Otherwise EDI would have the information as well.

she is the most annoying character ever. her voice and everything about her just annoys me. and yes, she is pretty much forced on u... think about it. only squad member that cant die from me1-me3, is the only romanceable character in all 3 games, hell even the love triangle scene that happens in me1 (where u gotta choose between liara or virmire survivor) if u suggest both, human leaves and liara stays...

samara and morinth were at least bearable

Lol, I was about to start a thread saying the same thing.

Would you kill someone who brought you back to life out of friendship or love?
If say you would, then you're just trying to act like a badass over the Internet.

BTW, Liara always has a crush on you.

I kept getting cold feet with Shepard's various potential LI's, and everytime she decided who she wanted, the gate was closed.

I never even paid Liara much attention... until at the end, when Shepard was about to die, I thought back on all the things Liara had said and done.

I remembered how Shepard had recued her in ME1. How Liara had then recovered her body in ME2.  How she'd then taken the time not just to build a device to record our efforts against the Reapers, but also another to record the story of Shepard, and she asks you how you'd like Shepard to be remembered.

It occured to me that throughout her extremely long life and archaeological career, Liara probably considered Shepard to be the most incredible thing she'd ever discovered.  Yet it was Shepard who had found her.

I remember realising, too late, that Liara was the one who truly loved Shepard.  And after all the awkward romance failures and no-go options, I'd missed the obvious one, the friend who'd always been there.

That is touching....

Indeed.

But that is the thing, EDI does have the information. She says she has access to Eva's data. And the dialogue with TIM further implyes Liara did have access to the information, she just couldn't dig deep enough.
.

.
Nobody, she should have suspect it and investigated further. Imagine the amount of resources that went into building that place. Liara noticed nothing. She also had no idea of what Cerberus was planning prior to their attack of Mars.

I used to post in a forum that one day got bugged and if you didn't separate paragraphs with a period it would stick it all together. Then I got used to it.

I don't like Liara's character at all, but I don't hate her either. I don't get why people get all pissed off at her though, I mean you spend far more time with Tali and Garrus considering they were in ALL 3 games with you. Liara was only in 1 and 3.

I admit though, I admire her constant nagging to embrace eternity even though I keep telling her no. She's got heart!

Yes because callibrating and getting Tali halfway through ME2 is dat quality time amount, tbh.

I am not a huge fan of Liara, but I still like her. In Mass Effect 1 she annoyed me. She just seemed so wooden and dull and I hated her recruitment mission, and on the Normandy she annoyed me. I thought she was pretty cool in Lair of the Shadow Broker, but I thought a lot of it seemed inappropriate considering my Shepard was romancing Tali. I ignored her a bit in Mass Effect 1 and although I wasn't Renegade, I was pretty Neutral to her. It seemed unlikely that she would be the one to try and recover Shepard's body, as opposed to characters I got along with more (Tali, Garrus, Wrex or Ashley). She had an awesome role in Lair of the Shadow Broker though, and the last cutscene was quite nice (when she told me that she knew Tali liked me). But it felt weird considering it was obvious she had a crush on my Shepard even though he told her no in Mass Effect 1.

Then in Mass Effect 3, although she has a gimmick (being the Shadow Broker), she still seems like a dull character. I can't really tell what type of personality she has or if she is still obsessed with my Shepard (with I began to think), and a lot of the time she was kind of creepy. As far as Asari come, she is a pretty boring one and Samara is much more interesting. The whole plot armour/default romance thing makes me bitter as well. She is an okay character, but I much prefer other characters by a long shot. I think she was at the top of her game in Lair of the Shadow Broker for me. I don't like her as much in Mass Effect 1 and 3.
