Thanks to the DAO writers, dev team and voice talent for making this a VERY replayable game!

Depending on the origin story you choose, the companions in your party, and even minor dialogue choices, you can get a wildly differing experience each time. I actually did a 180 on a couple of the NPC's and companions and some that annoyed me on the first playthrough are some of my favorites now.

Also, tactics come out very differently depending on your character choices - my first few chars were warriors and my current is a rogue - so different party compsition and battle situations (and of course, companion banter and interaction) again make it almost like a new game. Kudos!

I will say that getting coercion to a high level is very worthwhile in terms of giving you more options ;) - I'm finding lots of things I didn't know you could do on the first couple of playthroughs...

So bottom line, for all of the "I played for almost 20 minutes and this game stinks" posters - I'd really give it a go with another type of character or party type and see what you think...

I agree. I'm on my third game now (Bonli, a mage), after playing a warrior and rogue. I played each character differently enough, while varying the party makeup, to maximize the game's replay value and I've yet to experience all the unique characteristics the game offers. It's definitely what I wanted to get out of DA:O.

Near zero or zero, its the same tedious play

with no differences beside maybe few lines of dialog

Altough i admit a few things could have been done differently (some challenges/choices different depending on class, several different quests depending on origin, better quests for the companions), the game is stll very replayable. I'm on the 4th run (trying to finish once with all origins) and still find some new things. It's funny that the only games i play more than once are made by Bioware (with the exception of warcraft3).

Obviously, that cannot be true, since the origin stories alone, amounting to a few hours of gameplay each, are entirely different, even if you discount the rest of the game and assume everything else is exactly identical.

The orgins are short enough and dont make that much diffrence to the gameplay also you can play just  the orgins only. without replaying the whole game at all.

the game is highly replayable, however some parts are more tedious than others. some areas have several choices which make a significant difference, some have minor, and some are the same every time. I've played through several times and find myself getting bored in some areas due to their sameness, but there's still enough to keep me playing, at least until ME2 comes out

I'm only using the same 4 party members on my first playthrough. There are enough companions to play 3 times, using diffrent partys entirely, and you'll still have 1 guy left over.

[[EDIT: oops -- wrong post]]

Returning here after a month off...
I had beaten DA 6 times in roughly 3 weeks.  Got burnt out.   Discovered Fallout 3. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png

I always found it funny, hearing noobs on this site who were saying how "great the replay" value of the game was... on their first play-through LOL!!!  (this at least, in the old threads like this one)

How many times can you listen to essentially the exact same dialogue?  How many times can you make essentially the exact same characters?  How many different loot/items can you equip, when there is such little choice, and only 1 or 2 max value items per slot per class?  How is there replay when you can max out every applicable skill (non-mage classes), and half the specializations are worthless?

It took me weeks to fully explore and beat all the quests in Fallout 3; in the same amt of time, I'd beaten DA numerous times.  (granted, I was obsessed and played DA more hours per day though).

Don't get me wrong, I obviously LOVE DA:O, and plan on playing through 1 or 2 more times...  But I just don't see how people can say it has all this "replay value." (especially on their first or second play-through!!!)

How many times you can see/hear the same things depends on your personality, I would suppose. There's no difference between game playing, movie watching, book reading, or repeatedly doing any leisure activity that involves accomplishing the same thing you may have before.

Unfortunately, you said "with no differences beside maybe few lines of dialog", which I pointed out was untrue.

Well, I can't say it isn't replayable, I'm on runthrough numero 13 now...

and if You try to be a leet idiot and "beat" the game, then yes, rreplayability sucks... As id does with ANY game if You just want to beat it...

I can bet that almost NOONE of the people stating replayability sucks haven't seen much of the content... Sindce it actually takes more than 6 playthroughs to see it all...

Oh I guess that's bad replayability?

Go replay wow... =oP

And as a nice ending:

Everyone's ofc allowed their own opinions...

Just don't state them as facts, this they're not!

Coulndn't agree more Baalzie!

And after 3 playthroughs with individual characters, I wanted.... MOAR!

So I'm doing a 3-in-one (does that make it a 3-some?) with different char/class/race but following the same path as far as traveling is concerned and it's been really fun since their personality, reaction and impact to each situation are also unique to them.

Plus it let me expand my combat strategies by playing very differently the same area in a row. Like, from bottom tower to 4th floor with the 3 of them in sequence. No to mention that it allowed me to finally memorize a "summoning" quest sequence which my old brains hadn't done with only 3 runs and some 100 hours gameplay interval between them!

Well if you are not a reloader you would also play again for different endings.

Every one of my characters were over lvl 20, and I found and completed most quests and achievements by my 2nd or maybe 3rd play-through.

Maybe that's part of the problem.  I'd already done most of it.  All that left to experience was an origin story (and related plot points), and different class variations (of which there is little).

You're right, it is all just opinions.  Here's mine again:

How many times can you listen to essentially the exact same dialogue?
How many times can you make essentially the exact same characters?  How
many different loot/items can you equip, when there is such little
choice, and only 1 or 2 max value items per slot per class?  How is
there replay when you can max out every applicable skill (non-mage
classes), and half the specializations are worthless?

I can remember, somewhere, someone trying to claim some game had replay... (actually I think they were talking about NWN, which I've also played an insane amount of times), and they cited how they were making all these goofy classes like "mele wizard" or whatever.  That's desperation.
:pinched:

EDIT:  Oh, and I've never played an MMO in my life
