A strange thing happened in my module but I know what caused it so this is just a warning. What happened was that when a new area loaded you couldn't use the mouse to click anything, could only walk with the WASD, couldn't use a quick slot, click through a conversation or even exit the game ( I had to open the windows task bar and close the program ). I thought my mouse had broken but even the little flat lap top one didn't work either.Image IPB

It was in an area I had tested before that had worked so I quickly found out what it was, it was because I had changed the conversation that sends you there. I had put in a "fade to black" before the jump and for some reason it closed down the screen and left it like it.

Don't do it, it's not worth it !

Hi,

Actually a "fadtoblack" can work quite effectively if implemented carefully. I have that in my own area changes, and it does look more "slick". :) The trick is to remember to remove the fade correctly as well.

Do something like this:

FadeToBlack(oFM, 0.5);
DelayCommand(0.5, BlackScreen(oFM));
DelayCommand(1.1, FadeFromBlack(oFM, FADE_SPEED_SLOW));

Works brilliantly for me!

Lance.

EDIT: I refer to oFM because I have this in a loop and I do it to all players.

Sounds good so do I put the jump straight after in the conversation scripts ?

Your conversation would call the script that has the jump function in it. These lines go before the jump function, which should be delayed briefly to allow the fades to finish.

Lance.

Thank you, I am going to investigate this later as a fade to black would be ideal in this situation just not for too long and without a cancel it's disastrous !
