Anyone else noticed this?
Is it supposed to be like this, or is it a bug of some sort?

It increases your speed -> damage-per-second. So you'll do more damage.

Is that what you mean?

Yeah, I was just about to edit my previous post.

Didn't know that the number shown at the character/inventory page was damage-per-second. Thanks.

Well I think that number represents damage-per-hit actually.

But some statistics are quite bugged :(.

... or just missing, like hostile spell resistance or what a bonus of an armour does.

bas: I thought so too, but according to the game manual it's like this: "The damage number that you see in your character record is adjusted for the relative speed of the weapon, so it's difficult to replicate the math precisely."

This makes sense with the bonuses of Haste and your first answer.

The question that comes to my mind is this: why does i.e the Haste-speedbonus change this number, but not Rapid Aim?

1 point of armor reduces damage taken by 1

thus if you have 35 armor and an enemy does 40 damage before armor, they will only do 5 damage to you.

I think he means exactly what bonuses a set gives.

It makes you miss a lot more too though. But still a godly ability for 2-handers (in fact, it is the only time I can play 2h or have a 2h companion in my group).

Well, it's a damage over time rating. The tool tip is generated by a routine that scales it over a time period. The number you see is sort of normalized as well via "magic numbers". Meaning it's not entirely 100% accurate, but it's pretty close to matching the floaties you see.
