MS in Game Design Fantasy RPG Survey

I am a
Master’s student working on my degree in Game Design at Full Sail
University. For my thesis, I am
attempting to create a list of design guidelines that will aid developers in
creating a great Fantasy RPG. At the
bottom of the post I will post a link to a survey; which contains proposed
design guidelines for games that would be categorized as Fantasy RPGs. They are divided into three main categories:
Game Interface, Game Mechanics, and Gameplay.
This survey is solely for academic
purposes; and, as such, is also strictly non-profit, and will simply serve as a
means for validating the design guidelines that I have discovered through
research and game critic reviews. I ask
that those who wish to take my survey and help me gather data on the effectiveness/applicability
of these guidelines to FRPGs have played more than three (3) Fantasy RPG titles
in the last five (5) years.
I plan to post the results of my
study on several game development forums.
The results of my survey will not remain private, but will be shared
with all who wish to use these guidelines in the creation of their game. I can also be reached via email at: nstearns@fullsail.edu, should you have
further questions, comments, or wish to see the results.
Thanks for your time, and have a wonderful day.

Second: If you expect me to help you further your grade, then you better be prepared to compensate me in equal measure, I'm not a charity.
Third: I'll be sure to pm you the redrafted terms and conditions of service.

Why the hostility? Did you not note his join date is actually over 2 years ago? Did you also not note that he's registered DA2 on the site? So saying 'fellow gamers' isn't exactly disingenuous.
As well, did you overlook that fact that he's only asking people to complete the survey if they actually feel like it, not demanding? Clearly you don't feel like it, but there's no need to be hostile about it.

Of course, I also noted his 4 profile views ( 3 of those mine and I'm guessing the other yours?) over the course of his 2 years and his lack of any post/ threads on this forum whatsoever, which leads me to conclude that this account has been inactive those two years.
I also noted his registered version of dragon age 2 has no characters.I dare to speculate that he's registered that game fairly recently and only in the hope of drawing support for help with his thesis.
This is a lurker account at best.
My hostility stems from him posting this survey on a fourm he wouldn't otherwise think about out of necessity, hoping for goodwill to advance himself, without offering any form of compensation. There's always some *** gleefully willing to step on the backs of others for gain without cost. You points are perfectly valid and I thought of some of them myself, but still, what harm in asking for some people to voluntarily do his survey? It's not hurting anything, and I've seen several others on this forum before.
I'm not sure I see your point about compensation. Does everytihng need to have some sort of compensation, especially when
all it requires is an investment of a small amount of time (at least
that's how it seems from his post)? He's quite up front that it's not for profit for him, and doesn't anywhere hint that you'd be paid anything. As such, since it's presented as completely voluntary participation I guess I'm just a bit confused about the hostility and the inference that there should be something offered.

I didn't see the post 2 days ago. It was likely buried under the sports spam.

There is no harm in and of itself, but he didn't need to falsely present himself with the whole "Fellow gamers" tidbit to get it, as if he's been an long time active member of this community.

I can't give an absolute answer to that but speaking for myself -- Yes. My time is valuable.

But he is profiting. The people answering the study are contributing to his thesis and grade. Surely their time is worth something to his thesis, no?
In all honesty tho, I don't really expect a Uni student to be able to scrounge up any form of viable compensation. I'm just miffed at the false familiarity he presents himself with in his post.
