Why does my game suddenly say "The Stone Prisoner" is Unauthorized? I can't continue my character without it. What the hell.

Easiest thing to do is click your Start Menu, Windows Update (or Microsoft Update). This will scan your Windows for updates. You can then show the list of available downloads and select the .Net Framework versions if they didn't add them to the Critical Updates.

I tried that, and there was an update for the net framework 2.0, which I installed, but it did not help. I even tried following the steps 3.2.1 after the update, and it still will not start =/

What do you do if you can log into each account (Bioware and EA) individually, but the two accounts won't sync? I keep getting a message saying my EA account username and/or password are incorrect despite the fact that I can go to EA's site and log in using that exact same username/password combo. Also, when I try to log in from in game, I'm told that the username/password combo are incorrect... which is bunk. I am really and truly shocked at what a cluster f*ck this launch has become. What happened Bioware?

I cannot get the content updater to change from 'disabled'. Whenever I try to change it to manual or automatic or automatic-delayed it just says that the service has been marked for deletion, so it remains unstarted. Help?

EDIT:

Also, the DLC's show up as authorized so long as I do not log into my account, but I do not see them on the world map. I do not even get the steam exclusive items either, though I get the grimoire of the northern lands (or something like that) and the blood dragon armor.

With more details like this... hmm..

Use the step 3.1.5 to open CMD as administrator (or Start, Run and type CMD then ENTER for Windows XP)

type this : net stop DAUpdaterSvc

WHat message does it give you?

I guess you already tried rebooting the computer to check if the service would disapear?

If you rebooted, still can't stop the service with the command I just gave you, try 3.2.4 for the uninstallation part.

For some reasons your service is stuck and nothing you will do should fix the issue as long as you have this particuliar problem with that service.

Try 3.2.2, not to check if it's present but to check the status of the service. Try starting it and firing up your game again.

Enter the game, access the DLC page. ALT + TAB out of the game.

Windows key + R
type : Services.msc

Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update

Is it started?

No, it isn't, and it won't start it because it cannot find the path specified.

I'm going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it, but I can't seem to find your installutil.exe on my computer.

Digital download deluxe. Windows Vista x64.

DAUpdaterSvc is running well, all codes are redeemed. Still DLC does not appear under dowloadable content option.

I've tryed all suggestions from the first post and nothing works. DAUpdater folder is empty and there were no manifest.xml file at all.

It seems you made the same king of mistake as I did. In my case it wasn't really a mistake because the option to use an existing Bioware account was not in the creation process on social.bioware.com

What account are you using here on social.bioware.com?
Is this the account your linked your bonus items to?
If yes you need to use that in-game.

Windows 7 ran into problems with the system administrator. I got around it by running the services.msc, then finding the DAupdater, and then I also had to grant access to it by entering the administrator name and password in the Dragon age origins updater properties. Otherwise it'll give a system error 5 everytime you try to run the updater, either in cmd or my computer.

InstallUtil found (don't know why it wouldn't show up in the search), DAUpdater uninstalled, reinstalled, started, and everything is downloading once more.

So, some TV time and hopefully, barring horrid crashes again, I should be golden.

Bless you, HemisH.

I've run into no end of errors since originally installing this game. Pre-ordered from D2D, downloaded and installed, but the game wouldn't launch. The game config utility launched just fine, but the game itself wouldn't. It kept hanging on the activation step, which for some reason wasn't kicking off correctly.

I then fired up the EA downloader, entered my key and re-downloaded it via that, uninstalled the game that I had installed using the D2D install package, and reinstalled using the EAD install package. This allowed the game to run. I've since been able to play the game, but even after following HemisH's instructions, still have no downloadable content visible on any of the 3 tabs.

Anyone else not having any luck whatsoever?

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Don't know if this is the right thread for this, but as this is DLC, I'll give it a try:

Got the CE today, with 5 codes (CE, Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor, and 2 Pre-Order Bonus Items). I was able to redeem 4 of the 5 codes, except the Stone Prisoner. I tried it several times, using the exact same formatting (and uppercase) as on the card, triple-checked the code against the one on the card, and I'm quite sure I typed it correct. Still it keeps on telling me:

"Code not recognized, please check that you have entered it correctly. Unable to redeem code."

Any advice?

I had a problem with the Stone Prisoner as well - I thought the file wasn't downloading since it always stayed at 0%. I tried logging in/out repeatedly, restarting the service, etc. as HemisH mentioned, but those didn't fix my problem. After some poking around, I found that the file DID download (all 302MB), but was actually corrupted, so the game just thought it was 0% complete. I'm not sure if it's because the file is corrupt from whatever server the game was trying to download the file from (if there are multiple servers to balance the load), or if it just didn't close the file handle properly. I finally found a fix by digging around the XML files and directories and piecing things together and doesn't require you to mess about with the update service (which seems to be causing some other issues). Hopefully this will help solve the problems for others. (Make sure Dragon Age isn't running when you do this).

I should note that this may only apply to the North American English versions of the game. The logic is the same for each territory, but the download URL will probably be different. Your Manifest.xml and Offers.xml files will help you figure out the correct URL.

Go to the download directory that HemisH mentioned (should be in your [documents]\\\\\\\\Bioware\\\\\\\\Dragon Age folder), and look for a file that ends in ".dazip". You may need to dig down a few directories to locate it. It's a standard zip file. When I tried to open mine with 7zip, it said the file was corrupted. Make a note of the file name (easier to just copy the name into the clipboard). It will be something like DAO_PRC_PROMO_XXX_1.0.dazip. You're going to build a URL out of this file name and manually download the file.

We've already got the file name, but we also need a directory name. The directory name is the same as the file name, just without the version number and .dazip pieces. So the directory name for the example file I used would be DAO_PRC_PROMO_XXX.

Now that we have everything we need, open a web browser and navigate to http://na.llnet.biow...O_XXX_1.0.dazip

Once the file has finished downloading, replace the .dazip file you found earlier with this new copy. Open it with your favourite zip utility to make sure it is not corrupt (if it opens, it's good, if not, try manually downloading it again).

Now that the file is in place, start up Dragon Age and check your DLC tab. It may say 0% for a couple of seconds, then jump to 100% and begin its normal extracting/installing process. You should (hopefully) be good to go

Another possible solution which doesn't need any of the finding/technical junk I mentioned is to run the Dragon Age Luancher and click on the Configure button which will open the configuration utility. Click on the Repair link on the left side. Click the Clear Download Cache button. This will remove any downloads that have hung and force them to restart (hopefully fixing the problem). If that doesn't work, my more technical solution should work.

net start DAUpdaterSvc and press ENTER

Has there been any answer to the service not starting problem? E.g., 1053 error when trying to start it from services.msc plus seeing 7009 and 7000 errors in the event log (windows XP) whenever it tries to run? So fat I've seen some people mention My Documents being moved... I'm at my wits end, I can't seem to get this damn service to start. Running as a user in the Admin group, XP SP3, DA installed via Steam.

(I've uninstalled and installed without an issue, the service just always times out- whoever wrote this service code should be working furiously on a fix because this is a debacle)

If you visit http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php . Do you see your DLC listed there? (Just making sure here)

What instructions did you try? I'm pretty sure the issue with 3 empty tabs should be resolved with the first post.

I bought the digitaly copy from eastore. Downloaded it. I got 2 mails, only difference was that the other one had a Digital Rigths: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key, the other had same field empty. It was the only code I got. I activated the code on the website and now it shows the game as mine. But I don't see any downloadable content in the game. Just 2 options in the "Available Content" menu to be bought with points. There is nothing in "download progress" or "installed content". Why?

If I go to the website and choose "To view your Registered Game Promotions click here." it is empty. I have the PC version. The "Redeem Promo Code" gives an error if I try the code. Is it the right code?

Should I get some other codes to unlock the content or is the same code for unlocking the game and extra content?

PROBLEM SOLVED! My Stone Prisoner code was refused, until someone recommended that I first register the game itself here on the site. So I added the CD code here under Profile/Register Games, and after that I tried again to redeem the Stone Prisoner code. This time the code was accepted!

Hope this helps someone else as well...
