I bought the digitaly copy from eastore. Downloaded it. I got 2 mails, only difference was that the other one had a Digital Rigths: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key, the other had same field empty. It was the only code I got. I activated the code on the website and now it shows the game as mine. But I don't see any downloadable content in the game. If I go to the website and choose "To view your Registered Game Promotions click here." it is empty. I have the PC version. The "Redeem Promo Code" gives an error if I try the code. Is it the right code?

Should I get some other codes to unlock the content or is the same code for unlocking the game and extra content?

Looks like EA just didn't send you any of the promo codes. Did you pre-order the game? Is it the Collector's Edition?

If you DIDN'T pre-order and bought the NORMAL edition, I don't think this thing comes with promo codes since the release.

When you say uninstalled and installed, do you mean the service as described in the first post? I must say the people with the service timing out is the most baffling issue.

Yes, I used installutil.exe (thank you for pointing that tool out btw) to uninstall and reinstall the service.

Unfortunately I am not at my home machine right now so I can't tell you exactly what it says, but it is a generic timeout error, not an incorrect path or lack of permission.  I've even tried disabling resident protection in my antivirus software and turning off my firewall.. nothing seems to work.  I've noticed several others with the same problem in this thread.

The most annoying part is that there's no hint as to WHY the service won't start.

EDIT: This is possibly the worst forum software I've ever seen.  Takes a minute before I can see my reply after posting, I keep thinking it ate the post.

What's going on, EA/Bioware?

Same problem here; I bought the Digital Deluxe version over Steam. All 3 codes have been used successfully (1 Game registration + 2 DLC codes) on this website to register game and Redeem codes - yet nothing is showing in the in-game DLC menus.

Is the game code bugged in any way, are we waiting for a patch to make the Window clients able to talk to the EA DLC servers?

Are you even aware of the fact that Your game has now launched?

Ok someone needs to help me here. Can someone double click the Dragon Age : Origins - Content Updater, check the Depedencies tab and list what are the depedencies?

People with the 1053 errors or different timing out errors should check if the depedencies services listed are actually running.

as far as vista pro on my system there are no dependinces. it was one of the first things i cheacked my self

Mine says in both windows that there are no dependencies when double clicking the service in services.msc

Someone told me that I need to have .Net framework 1.1 installed. I tried downloading it, but it refuses to install because of a missing core file and then claims it needs to be installed via the control panel, but there are no installation options anywhere to found in the "Turn on or off features".

I did notice one thing- the .NET framework was not installed properly (with the game) when I first went down this road.. ie, to get installutil.exe I had to go get the .NET v2 framework distributable package from MS and install it manually.  When I installed the game via Steam, it said it was installing .NET, maybe I am lacking some .NET-related service dependency.

Maybe these 1053s are caused by missing .NET framework components?

Maybe this problem already fixed but I did'nt find it and I'm as desperate as possible. For me the download did well with both DLC but when I want to accept the quest from the man in my camp he said he'll mark the Soldier peak on my map, but when the dialogue ended the ! mark still above his head and i didn't get any new location on my map. The same problem with the merchant who should give me the control rod for the golem. i didn't get either a mark on my map or the rod.

What should I do? Is there any solution for this?

Locate you My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age Origins\\AddIns folder.

Delete the folder : dao_prc_nrx_1

Restart the game.

Just wanted to say thanks HemishH. Turns out my problem was that the updater was not installed. Seems to be downloading now....Just waiting to see if the progress bar will actually move now.

My problem was the DLC was downloading, but not installing. Turns out I just needed the game executable and the updater to always run as administrator. Fixed 1st shot. Thanks!



PS: Hilarious and sad that a forum member comes up with solutions faster and better than the actual development team. Rock on, EA... rock on!

Nothing seems to be working for me as far as downloading the content.

I am sitting at 0% for most but not all the content which i find weird. Normally i just time out and get the message "Cannot connect to Dragon age servers. Please try again"



I have managed to download the Collectors edition DLC, and the Stone Prisoner, but i am still unable after 2 days of trying to get 5 other DLC to download.



In the download tab some of the Items pictures are just gray (not sure if this is normal) and on the http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php page for my character i actually have a spot for an item but nothing is there (everything i register shows up but there is an extra "empty spot" in the middle of the list.



I have been told to just wait for the servers to be less busy and it should work but after 2 days i am tired of waiting with no progress.



Any Ideas?

Thank you for the link, this one had no problems installing. But unfortunately the DAupdater service still will not start, complaining about error code 1053.

I did try something out of curiosity though;

I uninstalled the service again using HemisH's method in the guide, using the Installutil. I then reinstalled it, but this time I used the new "Installutil" that had appeared in the v1.1.4322 framework folder, and I got an error message telling me the following:

"Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.BadImageFormatException: The format of the file 'DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe' is invalid.."

I then tried installing it with the Installutil.exe found in the v2.0.50727 folder, and it installed the service with no problems. But, as mentioned, it still cannot start.


Oh sorry, I forgot. I am using Windows 7 64bit version 7100 with all updates installed.

Let me repaste something that worked for some in a similar situation : 

You could try doing 3.3.1 again like you just mentioned, but with a little twist.

Once
you cleared the Manifest and DAUpdater, locate this folder.. mind you
I'm using the default settings (I also don't have access to a Windows
Vista or 7 so I'm going from memory): 

Windows Vista : C:\\\\Users\\\\.YourUsername\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns\\\\

Delete the content of AddIns

Try again.

Yeah the weird thing that always bugged me with Framework is that they're usually not inclusive.



Something requiring .Net Frameword 1.1 wouldn't work if you ONLY had 3.5 installed... and so on.

I just got the game today and since I've already made use of the character creator that came out a while ago I was wondering about the 'The Lucky Stone'. I was told it would be available at launch so how do I receive the item for use in the game.

1053 error - I was getting this until I changed the service logon from LocalSystem to my user account. I don't think it's .NET. I now have all my DLC bar Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep.
