I still haven't found a fix for 1053, I've tried installing .NET v1.1, etc. When I check Event Viewer (XP 32 bit), I see Event ID errors 7009 and 7000. I believe 7000 is the more general "Service would not start" error, here's 7009:

EDIT: 
My account has admin rights, and I also tried having the service log on as Administrator- everything resulted in 1053.  I don't think this is an issue with permissions.

Do you have a firewall that prevents local programs from connecting out without permission?

Just AVG antivirus. I disabled the resident protection and the Service still didn't run... could it be the antivirus stopping it?

for THose who bought deluxe version game on steam!!!!! In order to activate additional contact simply view cd keys copy deluxe CD key to clipboard and then while in game login to bioware social account and go to DLC content page and click on redeem code. Copy and paste in page that comes up walla! refresh in game page and download starts immediatily;-)

i bought the digital deluxe from ea store. my account in this social network is empty on the page "your registered game promotion" and i havent got any unlock in the game...help me!

I have bought the digital deluxe edition from steam and i can see soem of my items in my profile here, but nothing in the DLC i have no idea what to do, can someone please help? Thanks

I have the sambe bug....I bought the CE, registered all the DLCs however they donb`t show up in the game..... If i load the daUpdater manually I get the 1053 Error..... I tried deinstalling the Game, deinstalled NET ramewok and made a vanilla NET Framework installation, it still won`t work...... WTF.....



Any ideas???

I'm trying to use DAUpdater manually to install my cached dazip files- however, just as it looks to finish each installation, the program goes unresponsive and demands to be closed.



The in-program installation goes nowhere as well.



Can anybody shed any light? I've tried US localisation etc.

It shows all of the DLC in the installing tab but none of the DLC will download. It is all stuck at 0%.

If you are having trouble with content you are entitled to still being listed as requiring purchase follow the link in the troubleshooting guide to technical support, select the chat option, wait to be connected and then they credit the item to your account.

I have CE, my DLC all downloaded & worked fine, saved the game & shutdown. Now all my DLC that I used in the game shows up as downloaded but unauthorized & I can't start the saved game. My DLC on the site all shows up registered fine. The DLC I haven't used all appears fine. How do I get back access so I can restart the saved game?

I am having a strange problem regarding the DLC's I've dl'ed them just fine and such, but If I want to log into my account ingame, it says that my profile is not entitled these DLCs but it works fine if I am offline.

Ok so i beleive im missing the framework stuff... i try installing it but i keep getting "Command line option syntax error. type command /? for help"

I get the 1053 error when trying to start the updater from services.

I'm running xp pro with the latest SP, downloaded through steam.

I've managed to fix it, and my DLC is downloading now. what i did was install this service pack

and then i ran the updater from dervices. I hope this helps.

Hmm. I followed the service uninstall and install steps in 3.2.4, but at the end i got the following message; "The service does not respond to controlfunctions." (Sorry for any bad spelling, my pc has norwegian as language, I tried to translate



Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks for the advice on this thread. I have "my documents" on a network drive, so the DLC downloaded but then "failed to install". Temporarily moving location of "my docs" to local C: drive seemed to do the trick, the content installed, then I copied the content onto the network folder, and reset the "my docs" location. All seems well - content showing as "installed" now. Regards, sp.

I'm having the same trouble, followed all the steps, but still getting the 1053 error when manualy starting the DAUpdater, and nothing In game either. Please.. help!

Update - Rebooted my computer and followed the steps in 3.2.3 and it worked perfectly, content downloading as we speak.  Thanks...

Trying to get daupdatersvc.service.exe to install.  This is what I have done so far

1. Copied 'installutil.exe' to C:\\\\\\\\Games\\\\\\\\Dragon Age Origins\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\
2. Started CMD, chanded to C:\\\\Games\\\\Dragon Age Origins\\\\bin_ship\\\\
3. executed 'installUtil daupdatersvc.service.exe'

Mine download fine(shale and blood dragon armor) but they fail to install everytime, I've tried all of the solutions listed except the very last one,because I dont' have an "All Users" folder in my users directory(win 7 pro 64bit)

I have a problem that doesnt seem to be listed and no one else has mentiond.

I can see all my DLC's just fine, they all download,extract and install just fine (or atleast they say they do)

I restart the game, go back to the download page and there is nothing in my installed tab, the ''?'' says I'm meant to be able to activate my DLC, but none of it is listed, and their all gone from the download tab, assuming they have installed just fine.

I'm stumped, I can run the updater and start it just fine (it stops every now and then, but I can easily start it again)

I've checked My Documents folder, and all the DLC is listed in there, each DLC has its module etc.

Any ideas on how why my DLC is not showing up in the installed tab? I have a few other things that might help in a conclusion to this.

Some of my item pictures (while downloading) are just a grey square, by some I mean my two rings, the pouches and the Blood Dragon Armour, the Stone Prisonerr and Wardens Keep have their pictures, not sure if that means anything?

I bought the game via steam.

All of my DLC's have download and extraced about 4 or 5 times now, mainly whenever I stop and start the updater.

During my very first install, I minimized the game (I was not aware I could still play while they downloaded until recently) and when I tried to maxmimize the game crashed, I went back on and all the downloads started from where they left off, may that of effected them so much that their just going to keep repeating over and over?

Please, please help me on this, I bought the Digital Deluxe edition because of these DLC's and their not working, I had already picked out my perfect party (Stone Prisoner was one) but I dont want to continue the story incase I pass the prisoner and miss my chance for him.

I beg for any help, thank you for taking the time to read my post and I really, really hope to get a fix for this mess soon from anyone, thanks again!
