My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age
I'm trying to see the content in my head (no access to the game here). PRetty sure the games are saved somewhere in there. You could backup the folder with the savegames.
BUT for the love of god don't backup the whole My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age as it will also backup stuff about the DLC! Well you can backup all of it but don't just dump it back on your free install.

No matter what I do, I cannot get the service to start.
Tried uninstalling it, then reinstalling it.
But neither net start nor trying to start the service trouch service panel allows me to start it.
Access denied, error 5.
Well after the new stuff I added to the first post about this, I'm fresh out of ideas. Without working directly on the computer it's harder to come up with ideas...
What version of Windows are you using?
I was running Win Vista Home Premium with the latest service pack.
Got my Windows 7 64bit Home Premium from Amazon today, and did a fresh reinstall of my lap-top.
Well not completely fresh. I had all my games on d:\\, including steam. So after just reinstalling steam to the same old folder, I didnt have to re-download all my steam games.
Still, access denied when trying to start the service, even after yet another removal and adding of the service.

Who sends the codes?
How long they take in sending them?
Somebody know with whom I can contact to see if there are problems?
Thank you very much!

OK! I found a WEIRD workaround or my DLC problem. I was getting the "Error 5" problem, with Windows XP. Now, I have the game installed in my Steam folder on my N:\\\\ drive. So, I uninstalled the service, and copied the bin_ship folder to my C drive, where Windows is installed. I then reinstalled the service and started it. It worked PERFECTLY. Like i said, a werid work around, but it works, and I'm not complaining!
Where did you put the bin_ship folder on the windows drive? c:\\bin_ship\\ or where the game would have been if installed on the c: drive, for exemple?

Once you have done the manual install, go to the repair section of the configuration utility and click "Clear download cache". Now you should not have anything stuck downloading, and the new stuff should show up as installed.

Then it says install failed.

I was having problems with error 5 and error 1069 to do with permissions and such,
I had to go to:
right click and service properties >
Log on tab >
Click the "This Account" button and also hit "Browse.." >
Click on "Advanced" >
Find Now >
Select Local services and click OK.
The service should now run and DLC working - hope this saves somebody more time than I spent messing

I made the mistake of not having the same Email address on site and in game.
-WARNING! redeeming this code will use it permanently; make sure you are logged in to this site with the same email address that you are using to play Dragon Age!-
I didn't have the same email when I entered the Redeem codes. So I have now changed my EA account email address (the in game email address) to the same on the Bioware site .But it still wont show in the game. Is there anyway to fix this or is DLC lost to me forever?

For me, reinstalling the Microsoft.NET Framework did the trick. Before, all my DLC wouldn't show up in all three tabs in the DLC Menu ingame. Then I read the hint from the OP to do something with the Microsoft.NET folder, I searched and couldn't find it on my drive, so I just downloaded it. Now everything works like a charm!
THANK YOU. I'd spent hours trouble shooting and this simple fix seems to have things moving. Hallelujah.

i firgured my problem out i think. when i download them i had to saveas all files then ad .DAzip to the end of the game and it appears to fix it.
this could be why it wasnt working normaly idk..

I've been following this thread for the past couple of days now, trying some of the fixes but still not getting anywhere.
I've got the Deluze version and have redeemed my codes for the armour, stone prisoner and the 3 ingame items. These are all showing on my registered promotions page (only as icons, no text and I'm assuming this is correct).
However in game only the wardens keep and stone prisoner are available to me and they require points. There's nothing in the download tab and only the lucky stone in the installed tab.
I'm running XP and I've had no errors at all or any problems running the service.
Would really appreciate some advice on this.

Hello, when I first tried to start the DLC through services.msc as others have suggest, I kept getting the error:1053 and I could not find any other solutions to this problem. However, by using the following steps I can now download all the DLC I got from the redeem codes:
-download http://cid-27e6a35d1...leanup_tool.zip
-run the .exe
-select Framework 2.0
-restart system
-download http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en
-install it
-go back and start Content Updater from services.msc
And you should find all your redeemed content ready to download in game. Hope this helps!
Can anyone confirm? I know someone tried and it didn't work. Anyway worth a try and I'm giving the guy the credits if this work for you!
This fixed the problem for me in its entirety! Yipee!

{Minor Spoiler}
In the city elf origin, I equipped Soris with Helm of the Deep and the lucky stone. After I got out of the castle i could'nt find Soris and his equipment was'nt in my inventory. Does that mean it is lost forever or will I be able to redeem it again somehow?

okeyyy... I see no reason why this should work... but it does.
So thank you for that tip!
Finally DOA up and running propper on my laptop, ready for my long nights in a hotelroom on my one wek buisness trip.
Been enjoying DOA with no troubles on my main pc. Strange though. Cause I dont have DOA/STEAM on c:\\ on my main pc, and no problems there.
But this fix work. Just copy the bin-ship folder to the root of c:\\ if you experience access denied, error 5 when trying to start the service.
