OK I've been trying various things for a week now... 90% of my stuff is installed, except for Blood Dragon Armor which always fails, be it at 0%, 50%, 100% or even Download Complete and Warden's Keep which nothing I've tried here will get it to show up in Available Content.

I've restarted (been trying every day), cleared Cache, started update service manually, renamed the Manifest.XML... but nothing I try even gets it to flash up momentarily, the only thing I've ever seen in Available Content is Stone Prisoner when my account login is playing up, but once the login goes through properly that disappears as well (into Installed tab thankfully)

Did you try 4.3 with 4.1 as a reference list to delete Blood Dragon Armor partially downloaded file.

3.1.1 too maybe?
Nope, no dice... there was nothing of Warden's Keep to delete so still getting nowhere there.. and BDA still no go.. tried 4.3 twice, 2nd time also clearing download cache and still the same as always, either not starting or getting most of the way through and failing.

As for 3.1.1 that doesn't aply, didn't even know My Docs could be moved so it's still on drive C: (local drive) while the game is on drive D: (RAID 0 aray).

Now can someone PLEASE give me some advice on getting WK to *&$%ing show up!!??! I can live without BDA if it comes to that, but if I can't purchase and download other DLC packs as they come out I am going to get very, VERY, &$%#ing nasty with some people.............

In case Hemish is reading and updating the post.

I ran into a strange issue i could solve.

Problem:

Sometimes, after having the DLC installed and working.. you find it Unauthorized (and obviously you cannot load your savegames)

Cause:

Your internet connection dropped while you're playing and you try to restart the game.

Solution:

If PC -> Go to Control Panel, Services. Look for the Dragon Age Updater, stop it and start it again. Restart the game and relogin.

If No PC -> Delete the installed DLC and install it all again (what a shame, this is the reason i don't buy consoles :()

Someway i guess the DAUpdater turns crazy :)

HemisH - first off, thanks for this FAQ & thread. You are helping a lot of people. I spent 2 days pulling my hair out trying to get DLC installed. I believe I had every possible situation from your FAQ happen to me at least once. What ended up working for me was the following:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, clean install
DA:O: 1.0 no patch

I want to start by saying that this is what worked for ME. I make no guarantees that this will work for you.

1. Do NOT make the program and service files run as administrator. In my experience with years of Vista 64-bit, doing this is not the answer. It may get a stubborn program to work, but if it wasn't designed to run as administrator, it will not be working correctly. Running as administrator changes how and where certain files can be written. In the two days of messing around with this, I had the files set as administrator and could never get it to work. After starting from square one today, I thought about it and decided this could be part of the problem.

2. Using the FAQ, clean out and nuke anywhere the DLC sits which includes:
- all the files and folders in My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns
- all the .xml files in My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings
- stop the DAUpdaterSvc, then delete the entire folder DAUpdater in C:\\\\users\\\\All Users\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age
- start the DAUpdaterSvc

3. At this point, I manually downloaded all the DLC my EA profile says I own, as well as any future content I expect (the 3 DLC you can get from the flash version of the game). I then use the daupdater.exe in the game's bin_ship directory and load all the DLC, then install them 1 by 1.

4. When you start the game now and go into the downloads, there will be nothing in the downloading tab, and all your DLC should be installed, except for the DLC you don't have a licencse for yet. That content is installed but  shows up as unauthorized. I did this with the Lucky Stone DLC (the +1 ring for creating a character in the character creator then uploading it to your game). Once I actually did that, the Lucky Stone was added to my entitlements and appeared as installed content.

So now I have nothing hanging in my downloads at 0% forever and all my DLC is installed. This worked for me but may not work for you, so try it at your own risk. I also didn't go into too much detail in my steps as HemisH's FAQ covers it all very nicely. Good luck! :wizard:

Just made a quick look at all the problems & possible solutions. Can't seem to find the one that is related with version 1.01. I manually patched to 1.01 and now can't install the content, can't delete them from in-game, can't delete them from Launcher > Delete Download Cache. Can you direct me to the solution? It must exist, surely it must because I honestly don't want to think that two companies of these magnitude can make such a stupid mistake. Jesus Christ, I miss Steam the second I leave it for a minute. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Tried everything, DAUpdaterSvc refuses to start, comes up with the 1053 error. Restarted it, tried starting it manually, tried admin log in's, tried reinstalling, tried manually uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing works. The damn thing refuses to start.

Using Windows XP SP3. Everything is updated correctly as far as framework and such goes. It should be working. I'm very disappointed at this. A terrible start really for the first game released jointly by EA and Bioware. Though it's pretty typical the only real EA Contribution to the game is the thing causing the issues.

By admin log in you mean you entered the service properties and switched from Local Service (or something) and manually selecter an administrator windows account, right?

You don't have nothing to lose by uninstall and reinstalling Framework.Net maybe? Like I said in the first post, this is one of the worst issue to troubleshoot.

Tried that. Tried repairing it to. Looked more into the .NET framework stuff since error 1053 is apperently caused by an "out of date .NET". Been thinking on this and reading other peoples posts. Microsoft has stopped offically supporting XP correct. That would include .NET stuff. I've noticed a lot of people having service issues that can't be fixed are using XP. Could be the case that the .NET stuff for XP lacks some features avaliable in Vista and Win7, and that the Updater makes use of these features heavily. Would certaintly explain why XP seem's to be having all these issues with the updater service.

Which of course means Dragon Age would need to remove its "Works on XP" spec.

Ugh... After re-installing DAO to fix some minor issue I see no DLC in my 3 tabs "Nothing to fear! I'll check the forums" I said. So I did. After finding out that I can't get the auto update service to work no matter what I tried I decided "F#%& it!" and installed the things manually. But then they said unauthorized, luckily a friend of mine suggested "Try changing regional settings" after some fiddling with those it seemed to work, but after a few days I found myself in the uncomfortable position of having to re-install DOA again. Well the routine was the same up to the point of changing regional settings and not the DLC being authorized. Any advice?

Hey

I have had problems with DLC since the day one. At first nothing showed up, but I wasn´t worried. I simply thought servers were super busy since it was launch week. After awhile I got worried, did some searching and found this thread.

I had to start the DA downloading manager manually four times, before anything happened. Couple of items from the flash game installed without problems, but Stone Prisoner did not. It showed up as "unathorised". I finally got it to work by apparently just logging in, but now when I´m planning for my second playthrough it´s again in "unathorised" mode and no amount of logging in or out has changed that.

Also, Blood Dragon Armor doesn´t show up in any of the download screens.

....0.1.4. Code not recognized, please check that you have entered it correctly. Unable to redeem code.

quote]Cheiron the Centaur wrote...

PROBLEM SOLVED! My Stone Prisoner code was refused, until someone recommended that I first register the game itself here on the site. So I added the CD code here under Profile/Register Games, and after that I tried again to redeem the Stone Prisoner code. This time the code was accepted!

Unfortunatelly that solution doesn`t work in my case. How it can be solved after all?

Hope this helps someone else as well...

In the Available Content tab there is nothing,
the Download Content I have: Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner, Collector Edition, Blood armor.
Warden's Keep is red and says Install Failed with the bar at 100%, The others are Green and say Ready with the bar at 0%. In the description of all of them the game version says 1.0 in Red. My game is running the update version.
The Install Content tab is empty.

Ok bare with me here, I will probably repeat myself but it's the better I can do with a thread this massive. I'm starting to confused people!

  • Make sure to turn off your firewall and/or antivirus settingg  beforehand- DONE
  • Is your AddIns folder => C:\\\\Users\\\\YourUsername\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns\\\\ (or C: is C: or where you installed your windows Vista) ? This is a reference to 3.1.1.-DONE
  • Run the game and service themselves as administrator : 3.1.3.1. and 3.1.3.2.-DONE
  • Select the DLC, in the right pane is a description of the DLC and a
little picture. Underneath the description is a DOWNLOAD button. Try it
    to force the download.-DONE
  • Check 3.2.2. to make sure the service is running (it should). If it's running right click it and stop it. Then right click it and Start it.-DONE
  • I'm bummed you can't complete 3.3.1 because clearing all those semi downloaded DLC would be nice. Use 4.3 and check Show Hidden Files and uncheck Hide Protected System Files. If you have some sort of download for the DLC, the DAUptader folder should really be there. Maybe do a windows file search on DAUpdater to try and locate the folder (and not daupdater.exe from your game folder.-DONE and still nothing
  • In DA:O Launcher, click configure and then Repair and click the button "Clear Download Cache"-DONE
  • Use 4.3 to delete all the traces of any DLC (they don't work anyway) and try 4.2 on one of the small DLC (NOT Warden's Keep or Stone Prisoner).-DONE

So obviously, don't try all of that at the same time. I tried to go from easier to harder (also from a gently carress to a warhammer to the head).

So I have tried all of those and still these things will not install, I dont know what Im doing wrong or what Im missing. Knowing my luck it is probably something very simple right infront of me.

A further step should be tried by people with "unauthorized" DLC (yet bought and showing as registered in the profile, as my case) - simply log off in-game. All your content should be then available and your saved games should work.
After all, what real/useful interest is there in playing logged in ??.

This solved my problem at least until Bioware cleans this awful mess...

(BTW, the answer to this problem in section 0.1.9 of the OP should be corrected - live chat with support is off, and answers by e-mail seem to be non-existant :crying:)

Hi guys,

Thanks for this guide, really helpful.

However, no solution is currently working for me and it seems my problem is not documented in this thread yet. I have retail version of the game and the codes for Blood Dragon Armor and Stone Prisoner were redeemed successfully - they also appear in the Downloading tab, download to 100% but install fails.

So I tried all the solutions listed on the first page - reinstalled Updater service, deleted and re-downloaded the DLCs, ran everything as admin - the works. Nothing - still failed to install. Nothing shows in game either (the ring should be in inventory).

When I try to install the DLCs manually, it gives an error:

Install Error for: C:\\ProgramData\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\DAUpdater\\Data\\DAO_PRC_PROMO_LKS_1.0.dazip, Error: Invalid zip archive detected.

Now, I downloaded the DLCs manually a million times, and they seem to have full integrity, downloaded as usual. But doesn't seem to work. To note also is that Windows7 manages installation folders rather ackwardly. I have 4 DA:O folders in my C: drive:

Program Files / Dragon Age - where game is installed

ProgramData / Bioware / Dragon Age / DAUpdater - dunno what this is

All Users / Bioware / Dragon Age / DAUpdater - where DLCs get downloaded

MyUserName / Bioware / Dragon Age - with the xmls of settings, etc.

Any help? Please.

Thanks

Ok I think I found where my DLC is downloaded, C:\\\\ProgramData\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\DAUpdater\\data. When I try to manually install, it starts to install and DAUpdater fails and shuts down just before it finishes.

I've had many of the problems described above. I bought the Collector's Edition from Steam for my Windows XP system.

Initially, the DAUpdater would not start & I had to re-install it. There wasn't a Microsoft.Net folder however, so I needed to download and install that from Microsoft. After I patched .Net up to the latest version, I was able to re-install it, and it started up.

At this point the downloads started to work. The Collector's Edition & Blood Armor DLCs downloaded and installed pretty quickly, but the Warden's Keep & Stone Golem DLCs kept getting hung up. I left them for a day, and they didn't get past the point where I had left them hours before.

Finally I started using Process Explorer from Sysinternals (via Microsoft), and what I saw was that the DAUpdatersvc would initially connect to servers (what I'm assuming where the servers hosting the DLC). However after a few minutes the connections would just drop. What I had to do to get the downloads going was quiting the Dragon Age application, stopping the DAUpdater, starting Dragon Age, quiting Dragon Age again (because the DLC servers wouldn't connect), and restarting Dragon Age a second time. Doing this for whatever reason allowed the DLCs to download in chunks beforfe crapping out. I had to rinse & repeat this process over the course of two days. I'm at the point now where the Stone Golem is at 100% & extracting & the Warden's Keep is at 85%. Stone Golem doesn't want to seem to finish extracting and installing however.

This entire process has been nerve wracking & really stressful. I will say that your tips really helped, however, HemisH and I am very grateful that you made this post.

Okay, now another oddity:

1. Shale is already in my party. The quest "The Golem in Honnleath" is completed.

2. When I started playing today I got a message saying I started a new quest, "Sulcher's Pass". Sulcher's Pass has reappeared on my map even though I've already got Shale in my party. Traveling there is possible, but the NPC that provides the rod is not there. The quest says that I have received the rod and need to go to Honnleath to use it. This quest was of course, already completed. Then it appeared as a blank entry in my logbook. Only today it reappeared, though it should be completed.

3. Honnleath is still gone from the map.

4. Talking to Shale in camp is still causing the graphics to break and prompts me to use the rod from the quest which I can't actually do. It acts as though I don't have the correct words.

5. Somehow, Warden's Keep is working properly right now, though originally it was broken (with the NPC in Camp failing to mark the map or start the quest) and it was The Stone Prisoner's DLC that had worked. Can't seem to get them both working at the same time.

Problem: I've redeemed the Stone Prisoner code and downloaded it properly in-game, but it's not recognizing the Blood Dragon Armor code (I've checked it several times now). Any ideas? Thanks!

Edit: Actually, it worked now.  What weirdness!
