If anyone is still having the specific issue of nothing showing up at all in their Downloadable Content, please send me a private message. We have a potential solution to reinstall the service and also provide us with some logging info in case there are still problems.
NOTE: This will not affect those who already see the offer and the download fails for some reason. We are still investigating how best to address those issues.

this dlc download failed issues is related to region locking! players who purchased the digital deluxe edition in Turkey get dlc's to work after some serious tampering with windows.!

I see nothing in the list about "Not connected to Internet" problems.

And I am also on the "get rid of the DLC flaming hoop jumping" bandwagon.  I certainly won't be buying any through this shoddy system.

Here's a hint in case EA didn't learn it before: Online authentication = pissed off customers.  The freebies in the case may have been free, but the frustration this service has caused in trying to redeem my freebies has left me disinclined to actually buy anything.

Not that I could... I can't even log in because apparently I'm not connected to the internet.

I followed 3.2.3 as I found the updater wasn't installed. I copied and pasted the installutil.exe as explained and I had to manually start the updater once installed but it worked and is downloading the content! Thank you so much!

With me, the service wasn't listed and I get everytime an error when trying with the installutil. But I found a solution, easier and quicker I guess. :o
  • Go with normal explorer to the directory Steam\\SteamApps\\Common\\Dragon Age Origins\\Redist.
  • In that directory I've found DAUServiceSetup.exe.
  • Just run that application, and the service was installed.
  • When I've started the game, the downloads began.

You paid for the game, not the DLC. You can play the game without connecting to the internet. Nobodies forcing anyone to log in to play, simply if you wish to get the DLC content you must log in.

I agree that the DLC downloading service is not up to par. Personally I blame EA, why? Because I hate EA. I hate EA for every awesome company they have brought out and screwed so hard the content coming out was akin to the stuff meant to be coming out said screwed end.

But you can't claim the legal high ground, or threaten to report companies to trade officals, when your claim has no standing. The claim being you need to have an active internet connection to play this game. Which is BS.

@Selvec_Darkon: "You paid for the game, not the DLC."

I beg to differ. The game was £29.99 or the expanded edition featuring the game plus all the DLC was £39.99. I make that £10 that I paid for DLC. Basic Maths really...

So, actually, not that I'm threatening anyone with anything, but I DO have a RIGHT to be able to use the DLC, as I PAID MONEY FOR IT.

Downloaded all the DLC, worked great, logged in, got an error message but I could utilize all the content. Cleared soldier's peak and got Shale, but now when I logged in today all the gear I had gotten in soldier's peak was gone and Shale doesn't speak and isn't textured, this issue isn't listed as far as I can see. What can I do?

I just found something that works to fix this: Go to windows "Run"
                                                                               Type "services.msc"
Start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"

Hope it works for others with same issue

Sorry guys I'm just busy with work. That's why I didn't post much lately.

It's almost impossible to add every issues people are having in the first post. A good exemple is the latest reply, that's all in the first post.  Yes there's no black on white (well grey) descriptions of the problem and what steps to take but those steps are still there and can be used for issues that aren't explicitly listed in the first post.

The latest pages issues almost all point to 0.1.3.

There's no miracle for broken DLC quests in-game, map markers not showing and the like. The good news is that those issues got somewhat acknowledged somewhere on these forums by Bioware folks.

My last bout of posting was people not really trying anything from the first post and posting in the thread, I then pointed them to what to try and it helped some people. You guys should read the latest 10 pages or so.

The early replies deal with a very early version of the FAQ. The latest 10-15 pages refer to a version like you're seeing now. Chances are someone asked a similar question as you and I or someon else answered or gave pointers.

Good luck to the people still having problems. Especially the ones that can't install them still with all the help that showed in this thread from severals sources!

That new patch doesn't fix this problem right? I will still have to run the game in admin?

HemisH, I'm sure we appreciate your attempts at collating all these issues, but the truth is that no-one can possibly read through 900+ posts and determine exactly which one is "their" issue, especially when (as the DLC bugs aren't fixed, with no ETA of a fix, or even confirmation that there will be a fix) there's no solution at the end of it anyway.

This forum needs a sticky thread, much like the one for patches, saying "These are the bugs we are working on fixing. This is when we hope to have them fixed: in the next day or two, next week, next month or never". Without that we're all lost - and that leads to 900+ post threads...

Yes if your money paid for it. The original post I replied to mentioned nothing of the collectors edition, only the standard edition. If you paid extra for the collectors, sure your entitled, and I bet you that on the case some place it states you need an internet connection to get the DLC. EA doesn't slip up on covering it's ass against things like that. Now customer satisfaction, that's an entirely different frontier.

While I agree with you, that's why I said to check the last 10 pages or so. Early posts refer to stuff that wasn't in the FAQ at that time. Sure it might help someone but most of the interesting fixes and dicussions got included in the first post.

Actually if I look back , it sems page 30 is where people should start looking right now. It's the point where I last updated the first post. So the following pages are in direct relation to that. Like I said, sure some people might get help from the previous pages but I know it's too much to hope people to read all 38 pages.

Not to mention DOWNLOADABLE content. It's usually handled in game and not with a special little patch you apply on the game.

While I don't like that it forces you to always play online (anyway in my case) for a single player game with no multiplayer mode, there was no doubt I needed Internet on the machine the game is installed for the initial setup.

By problem you  mean all the related issues from the first post? If that's what you meant then yeah, this patch most likely didn't fix this.

In fact, this patch only added these fixes :

  • fixed an issue with Vista and Windows 7 Game for Windows Explorer
  • fixed an issue with Dragon Age and Windows Game Explorer
  • updated Visual C runtime libraries

Anyone else have an issue where their log file gets huge (grows by megabytes in less than a minute). I tried everything I could find, the service is running ok, has permissions, and even appears to login...

DA Download Manager (DADM) Attempting to connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM) Connected to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM) Successfully configured DADM!
DA Download Manager (DADM) Disconnected from DADM Control Server!

Is in my log thousand and thousands of times (after seconds of being in game). Nothing ever shows on either of the three tabs. Really pulling my hair our on this. Windows 7 x64, installed via Steam, no antivirus running, uninstalled and re-installed (game and service) twice.

....0.1.1. Nothing shows up at all in all three tabs while in-game (Available Content, Download and Installed).

Try
3.2.1 and go to 3.2.2 if the service IS listed. Try the easiest stuff
before messing with installing the service. If the service is NOT
listed you have no choice but to install it with 3.2.3 before going
anywhere else in this thread!

I would try by disabling the antivirus / firewall software

Try
3.1.3 so the game and the service are running with sufficient rights to
perform the tasks they were coded to do. 3.1.3.1 for the game and
3.1.3.2 for the service

A mention to 3.1.1 about your windows user files

If
you service is present and none of the previous hints helped, you can
always try to uninstall and reinstall the service manually. This is
done with 3.2.4.

For
me, reinstalling the Microsoft.NET Framework did the trick. Before, all
my DLC wouldn't show up in all three tabs in the DLC Menu ingame. Then
I read the hint from the OP to do something with the Microsoft.NET
folder, I searched and couldn't find it on my drive, so I just
downloaded it. Now everything works like a charm!

i try all this and i cant see nothing and i try to install the toolset and they stuck at system.dll  plz help

I downloaded the pre-ordered CE version of Dragon Age for Steam. The game works totally fine, except in the three tabs for "DLC," absolutely nothing shows up.

When checking the account I use in the game on the Bioware site, it shows all the DLC I have under user entitlements.

I have tried starting the DAUpdater service, checking if my firewall blocked it, and things like that. Nothing has worked. I am now on this step:

....3.2.4. Uninstalling and reinstalling Dragon Age Updater Service if you receive errors at point 3.2.2 or everything else failed.

All the commands I enter don't do anything. I don't know how to use the Command window at all. I have also downloaded a new Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 (dotnetfx.exe) and tried installing that. Still nothing.

It seems to me the DAUpdater hits an error and doesn't want to run at all. It says things that it "can't locate the service" and things like that when I try to run it from the bin_ship folder. I use Windows XP Pro 32 bit. Please help if you can, thanks!

P.S. EA Support is also useless as always--sent in a support Question about the DLC 11 days ago. No response at all. This is the third time EA Support has treated me horribly, and this is by far the worst obviously, lolz.

Setup:

OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 with Bullguard as the AVP. Running DA:O as administrator.

Problem:

DLC from the Digital Deluxe Edition not available for download.

Solution:

De-activated Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC), Bullguard virus protection and firewall and Windows firewall. I then loaded DA:O, re-logged my account and was able to download and install the DLC.

Question:

I have now activated Bullguard and Windows firewall. Would you advise to activate Windows UAC again?

Moment of Zen:

Trying to make Downloadable Content actually downloadable makes me wanna take up flying. How can gravity be a greater opponent?

OK, been keeping a close eye on my Blood Dragon Armor downloads and I think the problem is that the bloody thing doesn't know when to stop! It usually gets to 100% 'Download Complete' and then keeps downloading past 100%, usually gets to about 125% before changing to 'Download Failed'

AND FOR THE LOVE OF F&%^ING GOD DOES ANYONE HAVE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GETTING WARDEN'S KEEP TO BLOODY SHOW UP IN 'AVAILABLE CONTENT' TAB!

Looking at the codes for the downloads screen i think that for some reason it's trying to download a WK patch, but how the F can it do that when I don't even own the original??!

Your issue appears to be different.  If you don't have an offers.xml it sounds like your DA Updater service isn't running at all.  I sent you a private message with the link to an application which will attempt to reinstall it for you.
