Hello I use Windows XP 32 bit SP3, I installed my game on E drive, not on the boot drive. I use a dual boot system on Win XP/Vista combo. I have a single physical drive partitioned in 3 sections. C: D: and E:. Should I install my game on boot drive (C:), can it install the DLC content properly then?

My achievements and my character are uploaded to my online profile.

I deleted other reply because they have destroyed the forum layout!!!

So, this is happened to me:

Two days ago I'm been able to chat with a really kind EA tech named Gavin (I'm not joking, was really kind), and he said to me that a problem could be the fact that I installed the game on E: drive. Was true!!
My primary hard disk failed yesterday (what a lucky I am), I bought a larger disk so I'm been able to install on C: the game and magically all worked... or at least, the download and authentication worked. I'm now replaying from beginning the game to see if all the collecto item and quest are unlocked but, since I'm finding strange object that none of all standard character can use, I suppose that these should be for the golem...

But now a question came to my mind: Why EA didn't tested the game also installing it on other partition??
reading this forum, there are a lot of people that, like me (or I must write us) install the game on a partiton different from the system...

Sorry if I've been too long on answer, but yes, your problem is that you installed on drive E the game, instead of C.

I hope this can help also you.

Bye

When i originally installed the game and put in all my special edition codes I had no downloadable content. I followed the advice and checked all my account settings in game and online. went in via the downloader and tried to delete content and start again. Couldn't find a manifest xml file at all despite looking in the right folder. Went through various solutions suggested and then decided to donwload the content I should have access to manually. Then pointed the downloader at the content files and mgically they are now installed and in my downloadable content tab in game. The special items I have access to to in game, but the two dungeons I should have access to it says are unavailable because my account doesn't have the right to access the content. I have checked my account and the online one merges up with the in game one. I have tried deleting the content and starting again, but it has made no difference. Is there any other solution out there or is it contact EA time for me?

Serwadion, thanks for the reply. I uninstalled my game and this time I installed it to the boot drive but I kept my saves and settings from the previous install. The DLC again failed the install, cannot open manifest xml. Maybe because I registered my game while it was installed on the E drive and now it does not work, I don't know. Why they won't install? My game is installed on the boot drive this time. Should I uninstall and and reinstall the game on the boot drive without keeping the settings and saves? Or should I open a different online profile account --if it is possible since my e-mail address will be the same and my game is registered to my current account--.

I got my stuff working by copying all the backups back, that included only the packages and add ins folder. Then i started the DA origins update service, and started the game up, it showed all my dlc and the version of the game needed in red. But when i clicked to download the dlc, it immediately downloaded to 100%. I did this with all the dlc, but it wasnt installing so it would show up on the installed tab. Then i realized there were .xml files in my previous backup of the settings folder. I copied only the xml files in the settings folder over, and it seemed the game didnt create those cause there was nothing to overwrite. I started the game back up, and when i wen into the download section i could see all of my allready download dlc being expaded and installing. Easy peasy.

Biwoare was ****ing retarded for making people do this in the first place. All the bonus content should have been installed automatically when people purchased the game. I per-ordered the game through steam and have not been able to use any of the DLC at all. I haven't found any useful info on this forum, and i have opened 2 tickets w/the support page, and have received no response. Everyone grab a pitchfork and follow me!!!!!!!!!

When i looked at the property panel in the services.msc window the updaters file path was not correct. it was the default path C:\\games\\dragon age. the game was installed as above. that was my issue, I was getting the same exact error as you are. I am sure you have looked but maybe not took me a bit to figure it out heeh.

So trying to fix the DLC problem I ****ed up my computer and had to reformat and reinstall windows. No big loss because I was planning a fresh install soon anyways. Now everything works for me and I have a feeling that may be because I no longer have Microsoft.net framework 1.1 installed. I had some software before that required it and I wonder if that may have been part of the problem.

I've tried repeatedly to use my installutil in both my .NET framework folder and copied over in to my bin_ship folder to install the updater service, but I keep receiving the following error:

Running a transacted installation.

Beginning the Install phase of the installation.
See the contents of the log file for the D:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe assembly's progress.
The file is located at D:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.InstallLog.

An exception occurred during the Install phase.
System.IO.IOException: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

The Rollback phase of the installation is beginning.

The Rollback phase completed successfully.

The transacted install has completed.

I thought it might mean I was lacking HD space, but...I have 56 available GB's of space so that doesn't make any sense. The service isn't listed when I run services.msc so I know its not installed.

--edit-- using v.1.01 on Windows XP.

I think I just fixed it! For those of you (like me) who 'Encrypt' their "My Documents" or "Documents" folders, this screws with Dragon Age Origins and prevents you from installing DLC. So make sure your folders aren't encrypted. Once I decrypted my files/folders and removed any temporary files that I couldn't decrypt (stupid Vista permissions), I was able to get all the DLC finally! I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit btw.

First, thanks for this thread. Unfortunately, I don't like the answer it gives to my problem, which is that I can't play a game with DLCs while being off-line. Is there any way to fix this? I don't really mind being online all the time, but I don't like being forced to as a matter of principle, and just this morning my connection was lost for about 15 minutes. Not being able to play because of this is no fun.

thats possible your previous instal created registry data in windows folder already and with now it causing a crash or somethink to.

EDIT:I tried reinstalling via formeting pc(which i was planing too) but nothink works yet.But finally got an answer from EA support crew. Here is the answer which didnt work me but if it works for you.

1.First you would need to delete the “mainfest.xml” file. You can locate the file at the below listed path: -

Open “My Documents” folder.
Open “Bioware” folder.
Open “Dragon Age” folder.
Open “Settings” folder.
Right click on “Mainfest.xml” file and select “Delete”

2.Now you would need to delete the “DAUpdate” folder, which is present at the below given location: -

For Windows XP - "C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\
For Windows Vista/Windows 7 - C:\\Users\\All Users\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\

Right click on the “DAUpdate” folder and select delete.

3.Next you would need to clear your download cache for the downloadable contents. You can do so by following the instructions mentioned at the below given link: -

http://help.dragonag...p?p_faqid=23628

I fear, but I cannot say for sure, that pheraps, you had to uninstall the game and delete any registry entry. I remember that before my primary disk failed, I also tried to change the path found inside windows registry because the default directory where the game searched the services was on "C:". I tried to change to "E:" but without success.
When I reinstalled the game, I was using a fresh just installed Windows 7 32 bit, obviously without any trace of game and all worked.

I tried also the collecto edition item and story and it's working now.

So, if you haven't alredy done, try to uninstall the game (I now, another time sorry), after having moved your saved game elsewhere, and after, with "regedit" (used from windows+R or start button, run), search for any dragonage item and delete it.
Be careful to not delete any other item not belonging to the game!!!!

I hope this could help you.

How much ram do you own? what's the size of you paging file? how much ram it's used from your system looking task manager? your drive "D:" is formatted NTFS?(it should be because you've 56 GB free ,unless you've formatted with same utility the disk with FAT or FAT32)

- edit - sorry, consider anyway, to reinstall the game on "C:" if you've space on disk.

so, I have had the game since launch and have not had a single issue until today,

Out of the blue I started up the game and it won't let me play any of my already existing games.

It keeps telling me that the account that purchased the CE/ Stone DLC's needs to log in...

The problem here is that I AM logged into that account. I only have one account.

in my DLC tab all my DLC shows up but the stone and CE lines say unauthorized.

I have tried logging in and out to no avail. I have rebooted the game with no luck... I can't seem to get a reply from EA (no stunner there) Anyone have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. A support representative told me to uninstall and then reinstall the game to "get rid of and replace a corrupt file". Since I got the game through steam, this meant re-downloading the 15GB of game data. After re-downloading it worked, but a few days later the message is back.

Edit: I just fixed this by opening "services.msc" and manually starting the game's updater service. (I had to install that service manually last week in order to get the DLC to download.)

Also... when you reinstalled did you lose your current games?
