Oops, I wanted to say where I bought the game but I forgot somehow...

I bought it from EA store.

Edit : on a french forum it appears that those who bought the game from EA yesterday or the day before received an e-mail stating that the codes will be sent the 6th (instead of a 48h delay).
Can anyone confirm on that ?

Isn't the french version only being released on the 6th? I'm sorry I can't really be helpful there. I'm trying to look up this information but I can't find anything conclusive.

You asked when the system stops. It stops at the installation part. I have tried the DAupdater.exe and it crashes each time I use it. I am running it with admin priv and have tried compatibility mode. I bought this from steam and am using windows 7 64 bit version. I have also turned on most services and shut down my antivirus and firewall. I had to stop the firewall service manually. Thanks for working on this.

I made a new first post with more informations that could really help with your situation. If you could post the error message or behavior when you tried to start the service with CMD, that would be very helpful.

It's telling me, "Windows could not start the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater service on Local Computer.  Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified>"

Since you have the Steam version, it means Framework was probably installed by Steam. I use Windows 7 64 bits and my installUtil.exe is in this folder : C:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\

You can try doing Windows key + R (or Start menu and clicking run). Once the little box pop ups enter :
C:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727

With only one \\ at everyplace there is more than one. Press ENTER. A Windows Explorer window should pop-up with the content of that folder. Make sure you at least have the Framework folder. If you don't you might want to visit Microsoft Update (or Windows Update) in your Start Menu and install the Framework 2 update.

I'm not too sure here... Start with the point 3.2.1. It should direct you on a few more steps depending on the results.  Report your findings here.

In your Services list. Locate the Dragon Age Content Updater service that is failing to start and double click it. A new window should appear. Under Path to Executable, check the location. In my case it's c:\\jeux\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe which is exactly where my game is installed.

Make sure your service path matches where you installed the game. If it looks ok (and it doesn't work still) or is wrong, you could try the point 3.2.4 to reinstall the service manually (which will use the files in your Dragon Age installation folder, which will tell the right path to the service)

If you don't know where the game is installed you can always make a windows search of DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe.

3.2.3. Installing the Dragon Age Updater Service if it's missing

This fixed me.  Thank you to those who figured this out.  I'd have never have thought the gamed used a service for that, but that seems to be becoming more common lately.  I'm gonna have to say that either the Stardock installer doesn't do this step right, or Bioware messed something up.  I run Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition with full admin rights all the time, and UAC turned off.  Nothing on my system would have blocked a properly installed service.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate:

I had moved my documents to a NAS server .

Solution:

set my documents to default location (don't move files)

start game

Move files from default directory to NAS directory.

Set my documents to the new location.

Works fine now.

Hi ! Game's working fine with me, but I bought the european digital CE and I haven't received any code for stone gardian and warden's keep (even though my first e-mail said I should have received them within 48h, but that didn't happen).

Anyone has the same issue ?

(Sorry if I'm polluting your topic, but it's a very close issue and I didn't want to create another post on the subject.)

Yes, and slightly annoyed by it since I'm now looking at the tower from behind a locked gate....
I've mailed EA support, but I doubt they'll answer before I get the codes eventually though Image IPB

Do you have the C:\\\\Windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727\\\\ folder at least?

In CMD you could try :

cd C:\\\\Windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727 and then press ENTER

As usual only one \\ everywhere. This bug thing on the forum is annoying.

If the folder doesn't exist at all you might want to visit Microsoft Update (Or Windows Update) from your start menu to grab the Microsoft .Net Framework updates.

Question: if you've downloaded your DLC, and then sometime in the future uninstall your game, do you have to redownload your DLC if you reinstall the game? Is that even possible? That is, are these one time use things?

They install in a different folder so unless you delete those as well you will keep them. That being said, you can redownload them as many times as you want as long as you're using your account to which they were linked to when you redeemed them.

I finally found a log file and it states: OnlineFeatures LoadAddIns() : Unable to read file 'C:\\\\Users\\\\Ron\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings\\\\AddIns.xml'! Is this file unique per system or can I load someone else's copy of this file? The file is 1kb for me.

I'm sorry I never heard of Impulse before today so I can't be of great help there.

Try clicking on Logged In in game, log out and uncheck the Log me automatically.

Restart the game, relog normally.

Check the DLC section again.

If it doesn't work try the section 3.3.1 to clear the DLC data. It seems some Impulse people have this issue where they can only get the DLC to work during ONE session. When they quit the game they'll return to not authorized when you want to play again.

You could also copy installutil.exe in your Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\ folder and simply dragging DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to adapt this to your folders locations for most users.

This solution worked for me and was quite easy.  Used the built in SEARCH function of Windows to locate installutil.exe, copied, draged DAUpdaterSvc.Service onto it, a DOS window popped up.  Opened up Dragon Age, found the DLC downloading.

Thanks a bunch!

I have also used this information to resolve the ticket I made at the official support page, so hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong.

I have the problem that when I open Services.mcs and check properties for Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater, the specified path is wrong, and obviously trying to run it tells me the file is missing because it's looking the wrong place. How on earth do I change this? I've tried uninstalling it via the cmd and run but neither really seemed to work. I also tried to find it in the regedit to change the directory from there but to no avail.
