"Hello,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support.
We are sorry the inconvenience caused to you. The issue you are facing looks to be related to gameplay mechanics, we are sorry but we are customer support and we don't have in-depth gameplay knowledge. We can only assist with issues related to the game itself. We would suggest you to post this issue on our forums, so that other players can help you with this. "
hmm seems to me they are the ones that made the coin why should I turn to players for a solution, it has nothing to do with the system or how I played the game, its buggy freaking code that they rushed out to make their million plus . well you know what they say, not every programmer gets an A and those that did, don't work at bioware

We have a preview application that contains a number of the DA Updater fixes for the upcoming PC Patch.
You can try it out and see if it helps solve your problems in the meanwhile.
If you do, please let me know if it helps.

Also, you'll want to confirm your service starts when you boot the game. A few users have reported they need to manually start their service for some reason.
1. In Windows, Press start
2. Run "services.msc"
3. Find and start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"
4. Restart game
Hi there,
I have to say that even with DAUServiceDiagnostic_beta.exe, it is not fixed.i had to format yesterday so today i reinstalled dao, updated to 1.02a and downloaded this file. With some hope, i ran the game and logged in, went directly into dlc section.
I was able to download my three dlcs in game (a bit slow tho) however as always,i was not able to install them as they kept giving me "install failure" warning and required game version 1.0 in red. While the game was still open, I checked my services and restarted content updater even tho it had already been started. No luck, it didnt work, I restarted the game, no luck.
So what did i do? I went to check the location "All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\DAUpdater\\Data" to see if my dlcs were downloaded fine. As a suprise, i found out that now i can double click on them and dao content updater starts. Cool i thought.
I double-clicked one of the files and content updater openned. I dragged other two dlc files into and tried to install them. Alas, i had manifest.xlm error. I remembered before i formatted, i had set my windows' location and language to u.s.a/english(u.s) in order to install dlcs manually.
So i changed again my location and language settings and installed dlcs manually. All good. I started the game and went to dlc section. I had my three dlcs installed and checked , yet i also had them under "dowload progress" in dlc section. So i deleted three dlc files in "aplication data/etc etc etc" folder and cleared dowload cache. Nice! that annoying red flashing exclamation mark was gone and i had no files under "download progress" , i had my three dlcs installed and enabled fine.
Out of curiosity, i changed my windows' location and language settings back to original and then i started the game once again. I just laughed, really don't know why but had to laugh because two of my dlcs were listed as "(unauthorized)" and i had gotten a warning that game was not able to connect my profile. I restarted whole thing. And luckily this time, my settings are at original location and language and dlcs listed enabled and installed. (haven't tried in game tho).
So, yes my game works fine, i can install dlcs manually etc, there is no problem except a bit of work lol. But still, i'd like to be able to install my dlcs in game, not out of game with changing location/language settings back and forth.
So I think, i mean logically, it must be something to do with comminication between daupdater-service and the game itself. Do we have to have ENGLISH net. framework? I was going to try but it won't let me install english net. framework as it say "Your windows language is diffrent bla bla". Is there a way to know what is error, a log file perhaps that we can see what happens when "install failure" thing occurs in game? That log file in my documents/etc etc just show "Entitlements received" then no error is written. Other logs files are either empty or folders are empty.
I hope this somehow help you guys, thank you for your time. Sorry for long post.

I shouldn't have to tinker with the registry and services of my computer to get my damn games to work. Why this is a problem in a first place is beyond me. I have given up making spaghetti of my computer settings for the sake of a game and it's add-on packs. I understand that Bioware wants to protect thier software and all, but this is just GD rediculous. I just don't have the time or patience to do these types of things anymore.
Bioware, you fix it now. Not me.

Anyhow, my motherboard exploded (literally), so I built a new system, and I saved all of my BW game files. (still have the complete install actually, on my old hard drive.) Win XP.
ANYHOW, now that I've reinstalled DAO on this new system, I can't dl all the DLC. Namely, WK and Stone Prisoner...
But I have all the old folders, etc. from my last hard drive. (I actually could hook up that hard drive and validate windows on the new hardware and play from there if I wanted)
Shouldn't there be an extremely simple and easy way to merely copy some of the old files overtop the new ones? I tried, but merely copying over the files into the "AddIns" folder doesn't do it; when I get the DAO load/splash menu, it's still trying to download both those DLC, even though I've copied the old files into this new install.
Of course, I haven't actually loaded or started a new game to see if they've "installed" or not. Maybe I should try that.
<_<
UPDATE: HA HA! Okay, just tried to load some old saves... and even tho I copied over the old DLC folders to this new install, it definitely didn't work. First, I had to "force load" my old saves. Equipment was missing, and Shale was replaced by a headless Kiridan model. (but her VO dialogue was still there LOL!)

Here is the Copy of how to get to the Updater service:
3.2.2. Manually start the Dragon Age Updater Service if present
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START
4.) If nothing happens, run the game check the DLC content section again
5.) In case of an error or a timeout go to 3.2.4
I did this except in step three i chose Restart as i said above, Hope this helps someone.

You might want to add that you need dragon age playing or it might not work. When I wasn't running dao it timed-out & errored. When I had my dao at the dlc screen and started that content updater it worked

Ofcourse I then had the issue of unauthorised DLC due to my documents folder being previously relocated to my D: Drive. AND no DAUpdater service where it should be. Hell, I'd never heard of services.svc till I read your thread. So anyway, 2 hours later and your step-by-step has not only enabled my DLC but also removed some of the fear my techless heart and stomach has every time my PC goes funky on me.
As Leliana would say "Thank you sooo much!"
