I'm having a bit of a problem that I see some others have had as well. The Updater appears to be running (I went through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling it) and my DLC appears in the "Downloading..." section, one or two will get to "Extracting" and stay there forever. I want to use 3.3.1 to solve it but I have neither of the files suggested. I have no "manifest" file to delete in my Bioware folder, nor do I (I use Vista) have a Documents and Settings folder :(

Do the 3.3.1 section, just skip the manifest file if you really don't have it.

Let me type it down for your situation :

1.)
Windows XP :  Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type cmd and press ENTER
Windows Vista & 7 : In the start menu, in accessories, click Command Promt Dos Administrator or something similar

2.) In the command line type net stop DAUpdaterSvc
3.) Close the CMD window
4.)
Navigate normally with My Computer to 'My Documents\\BioWare\\DragonAge\\Settings' and delete 'Manifest.xml'
For Vista it might be : C:\\Users\\yourwindowsaccount\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\
5.)

Navigate normally with My Computer to  to 'C:\\Documents and
Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\'
and delete the 'DAUpdater' folder
Under Windows Vista or Windows 7  it's c:\\Users\\All Users\\\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\

6.) Restart Dragon Age: origins and log in
7.) Your content will be available for redownload on the Download Progress tab

I believe that the manifest should be in your "c:\\users\\"your username"\\My documents\\Bioware\\Dragon age\\Settings folder.

God it's annoying me I can't figure out how to be rid of the wrong entry and install a new or at least change it. It's keeping me up alright.

I have the problem that when I open Services.mcs and check properties for Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater, the specified path is wrong, and obviously trying to run it tells me the file is missing because it's looking the wrong place. How on earth do I change this? I've tried uninstalling it via the cmd and run but neither really seemed to work. I also tried to find it in the regedit to change the directory from there but to no avail.

Try what Aztiel did. Uninstall it like 3.2.4.
Just replace the line : installutil "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe"
net start DAUpdaterSvc with what Aztiel did.

HemisH wrote...

You could also copy installutil.exe in your
Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ folder and simply dragging
DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way
too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to
adapt this to your folders locations for most users.

This solution worked for me and was quite easy.  Used the built in
SEARCH function of Windows to locate installutil.exe, copied, draged
DAUpdaterSvc.Service onto it, a DOS window popped up.  Opened up Dragon
Age, found the DLC downloading.

Thanks a bunch!

I have
also used this information to resolve the ticket I made at the official
support page, so hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong.

Well the problem is it persists on not installing it, I'm assuming it's because there already is one of the same name? I can post the installutil log here if that helps.

Tell me your real paths to :

DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
and
installutil.exe

I'll try to type you exactly what you have to type to uninstall and reinstall the service.

Yeah just checking the log myself it says:

"An exception occurred during the Install phase.

System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The specified service already exists"

Here is the path the service currently points to: D:\\Games\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

And the path that is actually correct: D:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

I can do steps 1 through 3 no problem, but in my 'My Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\DragonAge\\\\Settings' folder there are only the files: AddINs, DAOCharacterCreator, DragonAge, KeyBindings, Profile.dap.

Also I apparently have no "All users" folder to do step five, just "Default" and my account :(

Have followed these steps and continue to get error 1053 when trying to start the DA updater service.

.Net is at 3.5 SP1.

Vista SP2 fully up to date.

Reinstalled the game already.

Kaspersky was on for one install, off for another, and off for testing.

Did I miss anything?

Are you sure that the service is installed? Try section 3.2.1.

As for All users it might be hidden. Try this before trying to find the All Users folder : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-vista/

It says it is installed and running, I did 3.2.1 again to make sure (It says it is started and is set to Manual). As for the "All users" file I managed to figure out that one...for Vista they made it a junction point to go to C:\\\\ProgramData...and so Bioware -> Dragon Age -> DAUpdater which I then deleted. Still can't find a manifest file sadly I'm afraid, the files hop up to 100% then will switch to extracting but make no progress.

Service fixed all my issues... but the Lucky Stone is still stuck at 0% - Is that because I uninstalled the Character Creator and deleted my uploaded character?

Ohhhh!!! I have to uninstall it from the steam location and not from the wrong location. Wow. Time to go kill myself. Thanks a bunch for that, now lets see if this makes a difference...

I added this to the first post :

2.1 How to check what is linked to your account

Go to social.bioware.com. Log-in with your account.

Either go to http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php
or
From the menu : Profile, Redeem Promo Code and in that page, on top of the box to enter your cd-keys is this ; To view your Registered Game Promotions click here.

Yep, uninstalling it from that directory worked right away. Installed it with no problems after that, even started by itself and the DLC came on immediately. God I feel stupid trying to uninstall it from the wrong directory for an hour.

Thanks a lot keep up the good work (and fast replies!). :)
