Yes, that's exactly my problem.

Kepha's method was mentioned in the first post but it can be hard to located something sometimes.

You could try the manual way of deleting partially downloaded DLC files. It will make you look with your own eyes if those folders are really empty and not rely on the automatic function from the Configure program.

Locate where the service puts the file when it downloads. You might need section 4.4 from the first post so you can see All Users.

(Default values again)
Windows XP C:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\DAUpdater\\\\
Windows Vista / 7 C:\\\\Users\\\\All Users\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\DAUpdater\\\\

Delete your DLC in both the folder Data and Info. Refer to 4.1 for the
filename.

Once the files are downloaded the game is supposed to do what you did to install them manually. I'm pretty sure your DLC that never installed stuck in there.

Post your results, please.

Ok, i pretty much tried everything possible and nothing seems to work. it automatically downloaded "return to ostagar" but it did not install it. right now there are 4 downloadable contents and only "return to ostagar" was downloaded automatically but it failed to install, so i had to install it manually again. Also i manually downloaded and installed the other three. When there is a new downloadable content do i still have to do this whole process manually because i am really tired of this and i'm tired of still seeing the download progress warning with the f*cking red exclamation point on the menu and in the journal ! what can i do to fix this problem, should i just uninstall all dragon age files and install everything all over again? and will this help?

I curse the day that electronic arts bought bioware.

ok i have tried just about everything and NOTHING is helping
i have win xp. when i start game, it loads, then i get booted from game with DAUpdater error. i have to close the error then i can run game ok, but i can NOT use DAUpdater in any form. i have tried
Naviguate to c:\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Windows\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Framework\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\v2.0.50727\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Perform these commands to do so (your prompt should be in Windows\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\System32 by default) :

net stop DAUpdaterSvc

cd..

cd Microsoft.NET

cd Framework

cd v2.0.50727

installutil /u "C:\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe"

installutil "C:\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe"

net start DAUpdaterSvc
which goes fine until i hit  " cd Microsoft.NET " then i get
' cdMicrosoft.NET' is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
so now what ? i have been trying for a week to get this. i have tried other mods that supposed bypass daupdater, and they won't run either.:crying:

Wiccan Phoenix, make sure that there is a space between cd and Microsoft.NET, the error message implies that its reading it all as one thing. cd is the command for change directory, and Microsoft.NET is the directory you are changing to.

Just a quick thank you for section 3.2. EA support didn't manage to get me this far. You guys did. I got my DLC back and Return to Ostagar showed up. Another day, another lesson learned.

Two thumbs up!

Do you think it is possible to retrieve points that you bought to get The Stone Prisoner, only to find that you had a redeemable code to get it? I didn't notice that I had this, on the other side of the Mass Effect flyer :-( so bought points and started to download The Stone Prisoner. It was only when the flyer fell to the floor that I noticed something printed on the other side of it :( Is there an address I can contact?

Once you log-in inside the game, you'll get access to the DLC linked to that account. I would personally only transfer the DLC if a monthly bandwidth usage was in the red and let the game redownload it.

In Vista your DLC should be in : C:\\\\Users\\\\YourUsername\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\AddIns\\\\

You can transfer those along with your save games.

You shouldn't have problems setting your DA after the installation of Windows 7. The only thing that could go wrong is if you encounter a technical difficulty listed in this thread.

Thank you very much for your friendy help HemisH. Now I can be sure, that the DLC will always be available for my account; even I reinstall the game and I have to download it again. Nothing will be lost. Image IPB
Thank you also for your dedication to this great game and the community.

Greetings from Germany

Alright. I have tried everything to fix the DAUpdater... but it just won't connect. I always, ALWAYS get a 1053 error. So I am forced to play the game logged out. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have the original store bought version of DAO. Last night I downloaded the Return to Ostagar DLC but it wouldn't install it because I only have game version 1.0 and it says I need 1.02. When I go to download the patch do I select "Run" or Save"? And if it's "Save" where do I save it to? This is my 1st PC game AND I'm not that savy, but I've really enjoyed the game so far (need to head back to Redcliffe now that all the armies are gathered). I'm running Win XP. Thank you for any help!

OldsBulldog, make sure you are downloading the patch from http://social.biowar...page/da-patches. There's some EA page that has the wrong link.

When you go to download it, select "Run". Its a self-contained application that will patch your game for you.

Perfect! THANK YOU Kempha. I had done the 15M EA version nad it created some of the aforementioned problems. Right after the one you provided it re-downloaded the Ostagar properly and it's available to go to. I haven't yet, tidying up some loose ends, but looks well so far! Thanks again.

mandy2michael, drag the .dazip files you download onto the open daupdater then click install selected. If your browser renamed them to .zip rename them back to .dazip.

It is essentially a .zip file no matter what, its just that the daupdater.exe needs it to be named .dazip in order for it to find it.

I have a problem in which I transfered my saved games to my new PC. I copied the whole Dragon Age Origins File from My Documents of my old PC and I now have all my profiles and settings on my new PC. Problems is I can't resume. It says I can't continue because the saved game contains the premium content on my profile and I need to log in to that account. I have tried logging in and out and also checked that I am logged into BioWare also. Help? I'd try the "services.msc" and still can't find the Content UPdater. Do I need a patch?

I have tried everything suggested here but my DA Updater Service *always* fails with a 1053 timeout error. I own the retail DVD. My system is Windows XP SP3 32-bit, clean install. I really don't know what to do next to get it running. Any more thoughts?

I registered the game. It is a new copy. But I do not see Blood Dragon Armor.

I redeemed Stone Prisoner - it`s working fine.

Tried to delete addins, all files in settings. Had no result.

Did anyone see this problem?

Did you install the game on the new PC? It's ok to transfer the save games and DLC from your My Documents folder but you can't do that with the game itself.

If you installed it and you still don't have the service, perform section 3.2.3. to install the service.

Thanks, that really helped me out. I'm 66 hours into the game so I was pretty much scared that the DLC problem was gonna force me to start a new game.
