Ok, the only fix that worked for me was installing the BETA FIX (http://social.biowar...613&lf=8#542935) for DA Update service. IMHO the beta fix should be the first step in the troubleshooting list, not a last resort. Would have saved me days of wasted time.
Thanks for the help, but unfortunely this doesn´t work for me. I got the same error and I can´t download the content. Somebody else, please?

What OS are you using (inc service pack)?

My problem is abt the DLCs. i can see them in the download tab and also downloading starts. But after it completed %100 the updater starts to extract the file and failed. i tried all suggestions on this forum (incl. clearing the cache memory, un-installing game, patching to latest, etc...) When i tried loading DLC (Blood Armor and Stone Prisoner) manually from DAupdater i saw an error message that the updater prog. doesn't read the required info from manifest.xml file.
my OS is bloody Vista 32b what's your suggestion

Also delete the Manifest.xml file from My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings, and possibly the Addins.xml file too.

When I try this...
Also, you'll want to confirm your service starts when you boot the game. A few users have reported they need to manually start their service for some reason.
1. In Windows, Press start
2. Run "services.msc"
3. Find and start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"
4. Restart game
I get this... Error 2: The System cannot find the file specified.
Any help, pretty pretty please? Did everything else mentioned in the thread and nothing works. Frustrating to say the least.

I tried everything in this topic except for the manual intallation wich is what I'm gonna do next.
The question is: What is the difference between "The Stone Prisioner Offer" and "The Stone Prisioner" links that is in the original post?

Steam version, Windows XP service pack 3. Haven't touched the game in 2 months and had no problems whatsoever. I find that Return to Ostagar doesn't show up and the Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, Memory Band, and Collector's Edition are all unauthorized in the DLC list. Tried reinstalling, game is up to date with patches.

Inarborat, Windows is looking for the service in the wrong place. To check where Windows is looking for it:
* Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
* Right click and select Properties
* Check Path to Executable and make sure that it is the correct path for where DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe is in your installation. (Generally located in the bin_ship directory, but a search of your harddrive can find it.)
If the path is incorrect, its a relatively simple registry fix. (But be careful making any registry changes)
To fix it in the registry:
* Run Regedit.exe
* Search for all references to DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
* When you find the ones that are under DAUpdaterSvc, update the ImagePath key to point to the correct location for DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe.

The Stone Prisoner Offer contains Sulcher's Pass and Felix, the quest giver. It was intended to always be installed, even if you don't have the Stone Prisoner, to offer the Stone Prisoner quest to all users.

I think the problem is when I transferred all my steam games to a different hard drive, but the game was working fine on the new hd before... In the registry, the DAUpdater is located on the new hard drive (D:)but in the Services list, it's still on the old hard drive (C:). Any suggestions? Thank you so much for your help!
