You could also copy installutil.exe in your Dragon Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ folder and simply dragging DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to adapt this to your folders locations for most users."

This solution worked for me and was quite easy. Used the built in SEARCH function of Windows to locate installutil.exe, copied, draged DAUpdaterSvc.Service onto it, a DOS window popped up. Opened up Dragon Age, found the DLC downloading.

Thanks a bunch!

I have also used this information to resolve the ticket I made at the official support page, so hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong.

-----

For me once i start it over and the DOS box pops up but then it crashes. I think my microsoft.net is broken or something >.> any ideas what? also my DAupdater crashes as well whenever i try to open it. with framework not working I can't use the cmd commands either.

If you could do it in normal command line (with CMD or a DOS box if you prefer) you would see the error messages it gives you trying to uninstall / reinstall the service. Which you could post here.

I'm going to bed soon tho.

I might be online in about 3 hours or so when I get home from work. I have yet to fix my DLC issue but I'm certain it's an issue with the service, all my entitlements show up in my account. I'll check in on this thread and see if I can offer assistance.

Was wondering why I didn't get any DLC inside the game. The service hadn't started itself. A Start click later from services.msc and I was downloading my goodies. Cheers for this topic!

Dont do this one.. Either I'm confusing or you misunderstood my instructions! :D

C:\\\\\\\\WINDOWS\\\\\\\\system32>net stop DAUpdaterSvc
The Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater service is not started.

Since you're getting the message about the service not started, what does the section 3.2.2 does for you? I would just do 3.2.2 for now and see if the service (which seems to be installed) will start when nudged to do so!

If you don't get any errors and its status changes to STARTED, try the game again and look in the DLC menu.

Those without the service installed can do the following to install it:

1. Open up an Administrative Command Prompt
- Click Start -> type "cmd" -> Right Click on "cmd.exe" and choose "Run As Administrator"

2. Navigate to your Windows directory (usually C:\\\\Windows), and then from there go to the Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727 directory.
- ie, C:\\\\Windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727

3. Enter the following command:
installutil.exe "Path to daupdatersvc.service.exe"

4. Assuming no problems with the installation you can start the service and everything should hopefully be good.

Ok I can't get the service started at all. It says its not found with I try cmd prompt and IM at a loss for these steps. Looked at th eother things and just can't seem to manage it sadly.

Still have Lucky Stone sitting at 0% on downloading... is it because my Character Creator is uninstalled?

People got results with section 3.1.1.

Quick thoughts not really covered in the opening post but people discussed it here :
- running the game as administrator
- running the service Dragon Age Content Updater as administrator
- make sure your personal (My Documents and such) are in the default location for windows

Sorry for now but I'm going to bed, been at this all day long, it's getting late and I'm working tomorrow.

Select that particular DLC in your Download tab. A little DOWNLOAD button should be sitting a bit to the right under the description of the DLC you selected. Try clicking it to force it to download?

Try section 3.2.4. It's should be clearer.

You can also look at this more detailed (but personalized for someone else in this thread) to give you a concrete exemple :

Let's try this with your paths.

1.)
Windows XP :  Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type cmd and press ENTER
Windows Vista & 7 : In the start menu, in accessories, click Command Promt Dos Administrator or something similar
2.)
Naviguate to c:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\

Type this to get there directly :
cd c:\\Windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\ and press ENTER

Type
installutil  /u " D:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe" and press ENTER
installutil "D:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe" and press ENTER
net start DAUpdaterSvc and press ENTER

As usual, only one \\ between each folder.

I've gotten the Blood Dragon Armor and Stone Prisoner DLC downloaded and installed, but I can't see the Warden Keep or anything else in the available content tab. I've checked my services, and the content updater is definitely running. I got the game through steam, standard version.

So I have figured out that my problem does seem to be that the updater won't run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but every time I try to run it I get the error message

"Could not start the Dragon Age: Origins Updater service on Local Computer"

"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

This is becoming a real pain in the rear end. Anyone have any other suggestions for me?

Thanks.

what do you mean by naviugate too. What is the cmd I enter for that. If its just that file path then its getting me nowhere. Also here is my DAUpatder file path "D:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship"

I ran all of 3.2.4 and it reinstalled correctly. When I use the "net start DAUpdaterSvc" command I get the following error:

"Windows could not start the Dragon Age:Origins uploader service on local computer.

Error 5: Access is denied"

I did run cmd as Admin. Attempting to start it in services is giving the same error. Anyone able to assist or even getting the same issue ?

having the same problem as cyphonz, and yes, I'm running cmd as an administrator, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by that. Error 5: Access is Denied. I'm running Windows XP.

my documents folder is in the default location in windows cause quite frankly i never use the folder much thus never was there any need to move, redirect or make duplcates of it. I have all admin privileges available content shows up downloading content shows up everything downloads to 100% just doesnt install. everything appears to be working without incident and after a complete reading of the inital post nothing has resolved my problem yet it most annoying has anybody else had this particular problem

Thanks for this thread, I finally got the DLC on my laptop. Now I have to get it on my desktop (where I'll actually be playing).

So it turns out this is the fault of Microsoft's fascist UAC.
