Ok I'm pretty computer illiterate and all the info in the OP is just too complicated... I don't know where to begin!

I got the digital deluxe edition of DA:O from Steam. My bioware profile entitlements thingy says I have Warden's Keep, Blood Dragon Armor, Collector's Edition, and The Stone Prisoner as "registered game promotions".

Yet I don't think any of them are installed on my game. When I go to "downloadable content" there is nothign in the "installed content" tab, and only Stone Prisoner and Return to Ostagar in the "available content" area.

I have absolutely no idea what to do. I want to install all the stuff that came with the Digital Deluxe edition, but I don't know where to start or what to do.

I'd really appreciate any help.

edit: I'm running Vista 64, if that matters.

First step is make sure the Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is running.  Without it the DLC system won't work.  Try manually starting it before you start the game:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in
services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins -
Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select
START

Then start the game, log in, and go to Downloadable Content->Download Progress and see if you see things start to download.

When I try that, I get the message:

"The Dragon Age Origins - Content Updater service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I tried both with the game off and starting the game then alt+tabbing down from the main screen to start it, and got this message both times.

Try running the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta. (With the game off)  Its a diagnostic tool that will update the Dragon Age Origins Content Update service and try and fix any installation issues with it.

If that doesn't get the service to a point where it will start and stay started you may need walk through the FAQ that is the first post of this thread, focusing on issues around the service.  If the service won't start you won't be able to get DLC to work.

When I run that, I get:

"Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirements to install this software. These requirements must be met before you can install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2"

Then under "Requirements and Software Prerequisites", it says "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1", "This product is not supported on Vista Operating System"

Is there a .NET 2.0 Framework available somewhere for Vista 64?? Maybe that's the issue...

ok I found a .NET 2.0 that is supposed to work on Vista... I'll let ya'll know if this works.

Is there any way of fixing the my documets problem with the DLC?

Basically I am using two partitions on my hard disk and my documents is set to the default C drive and my game is installed on the second partition. What would be the best way to get the game to look for the files there or can I just cut and paste the dragon age directory out of my documents into the other hard disk partition?

I too have the Steam Digital Deluxe edition of this game, but unlike the prior poster I do not appear to have entitlement to the Collector's Edition DLC. Is there an issue here?

I have done the exact same as you have wrote and tried that beta execution file you listed further down but I still get a 1053 error message. I have also done the command prompt options on the first page (with the bin_ship update.exe uninstall then re-install) and it just doesnt seem to want me to connect to the service.

Any solutions?

Make sure the service is running as an adminstrator.  I just set all the .exe files in the bin_ship directory to always run as an executable.  If your on Vista or Win7  you may also want to go to the service properties, log on tab, and instead of "Local System Account" select "This account" and type in your Vista or win7 administrative account along with the password twice

Also I see from an earlier post that you're running Dragon Age off a second harddrive.  Try copying the bin_ship directory to your C: drive and then using the command prompt to uninstall the service and reinstall it pointing to the copy on the C: drive.

And to answer your earlier question:

You would need to move the entire My Documents directory to the other drive by right clicking on USERNAME\\My Documents and selecting Properties, then go to the Location Tab and change the location of My Documents on disk to the other drive.  Dragon Age will always put all user data (saves and DLC) in the My Documents directory.  I wouldn't recommend moving My Documents though until you get all your DLC installed, as a non-default location has been known to cause problems with DLC installation.

I fixed the problem by finding the version of .NET framework 2.0 that works with 64 bit systems.

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

Once I installed that, then ran the Diagnostic Beta, things began installing properly! THANKS!

Thank you. If possible can you clear a few things up before I start this process as I am not 100% sure on some parts.

1). How do I run the service as an administrator? I am using Windows XP if that helps answer that question.
2). How do I go about changing the bin_ship directory, would this not create problems having the game on the second partition and having the updates on another hard disk partition?
3). Do I need to change the documents settings then? I thought I had to move it but if I can just get the DLC to work without moving my documents folder then that works even better for me.

1)  If the account you log in with is not part of the Adminstrators group, you need to change the service so that it will start using an account that does have adminstrator's rights.  Right click on the service and select Properties, then go to the Log On tab to change which account is used when it starts.

2)  You want to leave the bin_ship directory on our old partition, and run your game from there.  You would just make a copy of it onto the C: drive strictly for the purposes of getting the service running.

3)  I would leave My Documents where it is, if its on the C: drive, until you resolve your other issues with DLC.

I am using an administrator account on the PC however when I do what you say and go to the log on option on the Dragon Age service (I assume you mean using the services.msc thing) it has either the option to use local system account with a tick box to use the desktop or to use "this account" and the has three boxes, two of which auto fill when I click that option.

I tried changing to the second option and then running the application and I still get a 1053 connection error.

The main problem seems to be connecting to the service to show any DLC so basically how do I fix this?

I am sorry to be a pain in the bum but I need step by step specific instructions as I am not super PC literate (I can understand commands but need them to know what to do).

I appriciate the help so far, however this DLC system seems a little over complicated to get running :(

*Sigh* 2 days and no response from EA.

So, I need some help with the DLC.(Awakening specifically)
For some reason or another, I have it installed, and it shows that I own it, but when I try to get to the other campaigns, it's grayed out. I know the DLC works because when I play the regular part of the game, I have the Other Survivor quest from the DLC active and working.

The hell is wrong with my game? The only thing that I can honestly think of causing problems is that, while the game was installing, I minimized DA, and when I went back to it, DA crashed, but the game had installed.
(oh and, for some reason, because I bought a Impulse vesion, my DA won't register with provided CD key, but it still plays :( )

Only the expansion Awakening is accessed through Other Campaigns, all other DLC is integrated into the main game.  You can see what DLC is installed by going to Downloadable Content->Installed Content.

Now comes the wierd part. After looking at that thread, and one of yours, I found out that, my Addin is there, and registered under the XML file. I also have all the offers up.

So, it IS there, and ready, but still not being recognized by the game.

Edit: Posted their too.

I do not see my issue listed in the initial post, so I will related it here.

After finally getting to the point where I have the DLC downloaded (which was quite an effort in itself) I now try to access The Stone Prisoner.  However, every time I speak to the guy selling the control rod and try to get into that content, the game gives me a message saying that new content has been downloaded and will be available when I restart the game.  The problem is, it keeps saying this after several attempts at restarting.

I know I am logged in, so that is not the issue.  As a point of interest, despite having The Stone Prisoner downloaded, it is now showing up again in the Available Content tab for 1200 points.  It also shows up in the Installed tab, but lists as "Unauthorized" along with the rest of the pre-order DLC.  Logging out and back in refreshes that and sets it back to authorized status, but when I go into the game after that I still cannot access it.  Going back out to the main menu reveals it has reverted back to "Unauthorized" status.

Any ideas?

Check that the Dragon Age Content Updater service is running of course.  But you also may want to force the game to regenerate the authorization tokens for your DLC.  To do that, rename the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\profile.dap file to something else.  When you next log in the file will be regenerated, and new authorization tokens will be written.  Note:  Achievements are also stored in that file, but should be redownloaded from the social site if they've been uploaded beforehand.  So don't delete the original file until you are sure that it is working.

I have DAO CE and ME2 (both retail). For the moment, I don't have Internet in the PC where I will be playing them; but I want to register the games and redeem all the codes. And, since it seems that many people are having issues, I have some doubts:

1) Can I use my preexisting EA account to link the codes in BioWare social? Some people say that a BioWare account is better, but as far as I know, registering a new account in BioWare social does in fact create an EA account... Posted Image
2) I chose a a screen name for BioWare social different from my EA ID. Does it matter? Or must they be the same?
3) Can I register the CD-key and redeem (not download) the codes without installing the game? Or is it imperative to redeem them from the game menu?
4) Besides Shale and the Blood Dragon Armor (which expire on Apr 30th), are there more codes for DAO or ME which should be redeemed before a certain date?
5) Once the DLCs are tied to my EA account, does that allow me to use them for another PC (eg.: if I buy a new PC and want to install the game and use my DLCs) Or are there files that can be transferred?
6) When you log in your EA account in the EA website, you can change the e-mail linked to the account. If I do this in the future, do I keep the contents tied to my account?
7) What's the statuts of the problem with Cerberus Network in ME2 CE? Has it been fixed yet?

I think some people are having problems because they do not use a single account, or do not log in the game with the one they used to redeem the codes. Is there something else that i should not do to avoid losing my codes in the process?

Thx for reading my looong mesage.

Your Bioware Social Account is linked to an EA account.  It is either linked to an existing one on creation, or a new one is created when you make an account here.  Redeeming your codes on this site will associate it with the EA account that is linked to the BSN account.  You need to log into the game with the same account to get DLC to work.  If you want to associate your codes with a different EA account you would need to make a BSN account that is linked to that account (use the email address of that account when registering.)

2) I chose a a screen name for BioWare social different from my EA ID. Does it matter? Or must they be the same?

EA accounts are all email address based.  As long as everything is using the same email address its all one account.

3) Can I register the CD-key and redeem (not download) the codes without installing the game? Or is it imperative to redeem them from the game menu?

Yes.  In fact the in-game menu just sends you to this site to redeem your codes.

4) Besides Shale and the Blood Dragon Armor (which expire on Apr 30th), are there more codes for DAO or ME which should be redeemed before a certain date?

My Cerberus Network card says it expires 1/1/2012.  I would expect any DA promo codes (such as the pre-order codes) would expire about the same time as Shale/BDA, but you would need to check the code information.

5) Once the DLCs are tied to my EA account, does that allow me to use them for another PC (eg.: if I buy a new PC and want to install the game and use my DLCs) Or are there files that can be transferred?

Yes, the DLC are tied to the account, not the computer.  If you switch computers you just need to log in and redownload DLC.  Though you can save time by copying over data from one PC to the other.

6) When you log in your EA account in the EA website, you can change the e-mail linked to the account. If I do this in the future, do I keep the contents tied to my account?

Yes, you can change the email associated with your EA account at profile.ea.com/myinfo.do and this doesn't affect DLC.

7) What's the statuts of the problem with Cerberus Network in ME2 CE? Has it been fixed yet?

Ask in the ME2 forum.  Bioware claims that is has been fixed.

I think some people are having problems because they do not use a single account, or do not log in the game with the one they used to redeem the codes. Is there something else that i should not do to avoid losing my codes in the process?

Just make sure you use one consistent email address.  Log into the game with the same email address you use here and you should be fine.
