Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

As long as you FOLLOW THE RULES in this post, and adapt where necessary this solves the problem of no DLC.

In my case, no content showing, but 2000 points showing.  I unistalled the DAUpdater service, reinstalled it and started it in CMD as suggested.  When I started the game it stopped the service witgh "lost connection to remote computer".  Quit DA, restarted the service and tried again.  This time the content was there for me to buy, and it then just installed it automatically.

Result!

Can I suggest EA/Bioware pay YOU for the help you have provided?  It is almost as if they are in denial about the problem!

Thanks for the effort OP. In my case it did'nt work. Probably did not tried everything but seriously, I want to play the stuff, not fix it. Its Bios job fixing that and considering the age of the problem... bah, I'm just too dissapointed and pissed off right now. Why not just a simple DL link after the redeemed code just like with the ME2 stuff. Worked like a charm. Or just put it in the friggin disk if you ship them with the codes anyways :(

EDIT:
Oh why do I try always the complicated stuff first till resignation. Flipping the system language to english (USA) did the trick

Also from the paid content from 'Wardens keep" (origin) the character was able to gain powers through Grey warden Tainted Blood. Imported Character origin to awakening still has Tainted blood power in skill list but when selected the power actually doesnt work.. new patch needed?? 1.03 doesnt fix this

uh, I uninstalled Dragon Age a while ago and then installed it on another computer, is there actually a way to get my DLC back ? (Stone Prisoner and the equipment you got when you pre-ordered the game) because on the site I think it says they're 'spent' the download option doesn't appear next to their names and in-game nothing shows up in the download manager. I can't find my old codes but typing them in again on the site wouldn't work anyway, right?

The should redownload automatically once you log into the game with the same account.  Make sure under Options->Online that "Download Previously Purchased Content" is checked.

If they don't automatically download, well that is what the FAQ that is the first post of this thread is for.  Check it out and see if there is something there that can solve your problem.  As a first step make sure you Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is running.  Try manually starting it before you start the game:
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

hi,

i had a problem with the update service showing error 5 and 1069. i tried most of the solutions posted but they didnt work. i did however find a solution through a different approach to one listed.

The major problem with the service is that if you try to get around the error 5 by specifying an account to log in to it, it always needs a password. this caused alot of trouble since my windows admin user account wasnt using a password... so as ludicrasly simple a solution this is you just make a password for it.. after 2 hours of trying this worked without me having to uninstall bits and copy them.

control panel -> user accounts -> pick/create your admin level account -> create password -> type something..

start bar
- run - type: services.msc
- open DA origins content updater
- Log On tab (make sure the service is enabled in the hardware profile list)
- select This account -  Browse
- Advanced
- Find Now
- Select the windows user account name you have/made in the list supplied
- Click OK until you are back at the Log On tab
- Type in the Password you just made for that windows account. - Click Apply/OK
- Click start the service

job done

hope that helps

AFTER DAYS of searching forums and threads THIS post fixed my issue. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Just wanted to quickly de-lurk and say thanks; this and the other recommended threads have given me some options to sort out my problems.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. nonetheless I really appreciate the help. I am bitterly disappointed that this has not been rectified by the devs - I have not read the entire thread but i hope this is seventy six pages of thanks.

I am sure your problems are buried in this thread, reclarify them and I bet I can help. I have done it all. Had every problem known with my DLC. Let me see if I can help you.

Thanks for this thread, it solved my problem. I'd installed DAO on a new computer and was bemused as to why DLC linked with my account on the website was prompting me for points (Issue 1.0.9)

The reason was that I had moved my Steam directory on the new machine after realising it'd quickly outgrow my SSD, but the DAUpdater service was still registered to the old directory. Running installutil /u oldpath, closing services.msc and then installutil newpath worked a treat. (Variant on 3.2.3.)

Even if it was a bit bemusing.

(Jumping back a page -- to Garfield360's issue, which looks to be the same -- I tried copying the bin_ship directory to the old Steam location and that actually didn't work. Installutil to update the service to the new location is a more elegant solution anyway.)

The file that EA Support suggested you delete is actually My Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Settings\\\\manifest.xml.

You should also make sure that your Dragon Age Origins Content Update service is running.
1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

Beyond that, there are enough different things that it could be that it is hard to give specific answers.  That's why the FAQ that is the first post in this thread exisits.  Go through that and see if you can find your problem there.

Last night, I had to restore my AddIns.xml file from a previous version. Everything in the game works fine, and all of my DLC is there under "Installed Content". However, under the "Downloadable Content" tab, there's a red exclamation point. The game keeps trying to download and install content that's already installed. Is there a way I can stop that without losing my existing DLC?

ETA: It seems that I can't start a new game now, because it tells me it's installing content. Any suggestions?

I have just installed the game and like many, am having trouble getting DLC to install. First of all, I am using the Steam version of the game and have reviewed the FAQ section of this forum thread. I have logged into my account here at the Bioware Social Network and my profile/registered game promotions shows that I have 4 items available for download. When I run the game, log in to my account and go to DLC, download progress tab, it shows that the 4 items are downloading but they never go past 0% (I have waited a very long time and no change). Lastly, when I check Windows task manager it indicates that daupdatersvc.service.exe is running. Any guidance on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried downloading the .dazip files manually?  There are links in the first post of this thread, Section 4.  It might be a network/firewall problem that is preventing you from reaching the server where they are stored.

Im having the problem 0.1.9: " Some of your DLC are showing in the Available Content tab while you are entitled to it as seen on http://social.biowar...titlements.php"

"If you are having trouble with content you are entitled to still being listed as requiring purchase follow the link in the troubleshooting guide to technical support, select the chat option, wait to be connected and then they credit the item to your account."

I don't understand the answer? Can someone please explain it better to me please?

Would be extremely appreciated!!

Its recommending that you contact EA support via the live chat link.  http://support.ea.com/chat, and have them make sure that the DLC is properly associated with your account.

However also make sure that your Dragon Age Content Updater service is running properly.  That can also cause that error.  Try and give it a manual kickstart before you start the game.

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.

I have not tried a manual download.  In my first post I mentioned that when logged in to my Bioware account, I see that I have 4 DLC items available. When I run the game, log in, and go to DLC, I do not have any items listed under "available content", but all 4 items appear under the download tab and it says that they are downloading.  The problem is that they stay at 0% and never actually download.  I know that the daupdatersvc.service is running and that it and the game are listed as exceptions in my Windows firewall settings. Any additional help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I went ahead and installed the DLC using the manual procedure and they are installed and working fine.  Some of them conintued to appear under the download tab (I understand that this happens sometimes).  I stopped and disabled the daupdatersvc.service and that removed the items from appearing and attempting to download.  Is there any harm in keeping the daupdatersvc.service stopped if I'm not trying to download any content?  Thanks for your reply and help on solving this issue.

If you want to keep the Updater service stopped you will have to play logged out.  When you are logged in, the game uses the DA Updater to talk to the server to determine which content you are authorized to down, and if the service isn't running it will deauthorize them.  If you want to play logged in, the service must be running.
