The Feastday pranks dazip file is here:
http://na.llnet.biow..._CP_7_1.0.dazip

Maybe this should be added to the first post? I haven't looked for the Feastday gifts file since that downloaded with no problems.

EDIT:
Found the Feastday gifts:
http://na.llnet.biow..._CP_3_1.0.dazip

Kepha, thank you so much for the help. I'm having no luck though. I can't figure out the regedit (I found both the old and the new file paths for the updater so I'm not sure what to change) and the cmd.exe method doesn't work for me either.

Would this problem be solved by uninstalling/reinstalling the game?

Possibly.  Though for some people reinstalling doesn't change where Windows is looking for it.

As for the registry,  You only need to worry about entries in the registry with the old path.  Simply select the ImagePath key, right click, and select Modify.  Then edit the path to the correct one, and click OK.

It is Modify or Rename? If I modify I can't edit the file path and if I rename it to the new location I can't save it because it's identical to the new location.

I sincerely apologise for being a noob =(

Its Modify, you want to change the path in Value Data.  If you can't edit it, that's beyond my expertise.  I'd suggest doing a little googling to see if there's an explanation out there.

The Dragon Age Origins Content Updater is installed when you install Dragon Age.  Its located with your Dragon Age installation in the bin_ship directory, for example:  C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daupdatersvc.service.exe.

Go to the Windows Services list and try and start it from there:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

I've registered my DAO copy and redeemed the code for Shale (both through BioWare Social).

In Your registered game promotions tab for my profile I get something like this:

Title                               Game                            Platform   Download
The Stone Prisoner               Dragon Age Origins   PC/MAC         ---

I have read somewhere else about direct links for downloading DLCs. In fact, section 4.1 of the FAQ posted in this thread does have links, but I'm unsure about their purpose (maybe the codes are for authorising the DLCs and make them work, since it seems that in fact they are all avaible for downloading?)
Anyway, is it normal that I get the "---" instead a direct link? Or does the direct link only appear for certain DLCs?

I don't have DAO installed. I'm just registering the game and redeeming the codes to avoid their expiration (because I still don't have Internet for the PC where I will install and play the games). Maybe it's only possible to download the DLCs through the game menu (instead of just logging in BioWare Social) and it's necessary to log through the game menu to make the direct link appear?

Regarding the Blood Armor, is it enough to redeem the code once for getting it both for DAO and ME2? Can I do it before registering ME2 (like I said, I have already registered DAO? Or is it imperative to register ME2 too before, or redeeming the code twice or something else?

Thx for reading this!

Officially Dragon Age DLC can only be downloaded from inside the game itself, once you log into the game with the same account as your Bioware Social account it should start to download.  (If it doesn't that is what this FAQ is for.)  The links in these FAQs are links to the files on the server that have been figured out by the community members, and can unoffically be used to manually install the DLC if there are problems.

Once you redeem the Blood Dragon Armor code you should see it listed multiple times on the http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php page.  Once for your DA:O Platform, once for ME2 PC, and once for ME2 Xbox 360.  You can redeem it before you register ME2, many of us did before ME2 was even available to register.

Ah, I misunderstood you at first. I edited theValue Data on the original hard drive file path to the one on the new hard drive and it still won't start.

Original file path in regedit:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAUpdatersvc.service.exe

In Value Data I added the new location:

S:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\daupdatersvc.service.exe

and I still get the same error message. "Windows cannot start the...
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified"

If even a reinstall possibly won't fix this problem then I guess that's it. I'll give up now and let you get back to more productive things =P

Thank you very much for your help =)

I will say that sometimes putting things on the less used drive letters has been known to cause problems.  You could try making a copy of the bin_ship folder on your C: drive and change the value data to point to the copy and see if that helps.

It didn't unfortunately. I also re-made the original C drive Program Files (x86)/Steam -> daupdatersvc.service.exe folder path so it would actually be exactly where the service program thinks it is and it still won't work.

I'm stumped, it seems pathologically determined not to start and therefore deny Bioware any more of my money =(

Ah well. Thanks again for your help =D

Kepha, you're an absolute hero - I was having almost the exact same problem as Gary, but section 5 of your guide (the bit on using regedit) sorted it right out, finally putting several hours of unspeakable frustration to rest. I'm not quite sure why it worked for me and not Gary, but the only thing I could think to suggest is to double check you got all the ImagePath keys for DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe... I didn't realise there was more than one entry I had to modify, until I went back and read Kepha's guide more carefully.

Also, for the complete newbs like me, regedit has a search ('find', to be precise) tool under edit on the toolbar, as well as a 'find next' shortcut keyed to F3. Just type "DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe" into the search, and keep tapping F3 (checking the directories are correct as you go!) until you actually get a pop up message saying you've reached the end - it looks like you're going around in circles, but you're not. Again, this is probably completely obvious to most people, but it took me a while to figure out, so I thought I'd throw it in for my fellow Luddites.

Thanks again!

I now have a new problem.

I finally got the DLC on the downloadable tab ingame. Then i downloaded it and the quest journal added the Stone prisoner quest. I travelled to the guy who got the Rod. And then i click on the option "Take the rod (Download DLC)". Then it pops up a screen telling me its under progress. And when i check the DLC it stands that its done, but he wont give me the rod.

Help!

I now restarted the game. And when i get ingame now and take the rod it stands that i have to purchase bioware point?! oO wtf

Hi there,

I just about tried everything described here, but I still can´t get the DLC to actually download. I have

Win7 Professional,
I run everything as admin
The daupdater is running
I checked the firewall, switched it on/off
But still my dowlnoads don´t start. I can see everything in the download window, but it sits at 0%. After a while I get the message "download failed"

Strange as it can get, also the manual download doesn´t work, using the link in the OP. I get the error message "Cannot read original file" or "file not found"

Does anyone have an idea?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
regards
KAc

If you can't download the manual links there is likely something blocking you from getting to EA Servers.  Likely some sort of network issue caused by either your location or your ISP.

There are probably one of two things that could be wrong.

First check that your CD key is stored in your registery properly:  See this thread for how to check that it is and fix it if its not:  http://social.biowar...58/index/294757

If the CD key is there you may have a problem with your My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\profile.dap file, which is where the authorization tokens that you let you play offline are stored.  What is supposed to happen is that everytime you log in it checks with the server, verifies that you are entitled to the DLC, and stores that info in that file.  Then once you log out you can play the DLC offline.  Make sure that file is writable, and you should be able to see the timestamp on the file update everytime you start the game and login.  If that isn't happening, or its still not letting you play the DLC when you are logged out, you may want to regenerate the profile.dap file.  Rename the file to something else, then start the game and login, and it will get regenerated, and see if that solves the DLC offline problems.  Note that achievements are also stored in the profile.dap file, which is why you don't want to just delete it until you're sure that things are fixed, but any achievements that have been uploaded to the social site will be redownloaded.

I'm having trouble understanding your detailed steps. I see what they tell me to do. I just don't know where or how to do them. Return to Ostagar is shown as redeemed and bought, but nothing shows up when I load daorigins. I can't get daupdatersvc.service.exe to run, nothing happens when I run daupdater and then run daorigins. Is there no way to get my money back, or is that 5 bucks eaten sandwich?

ok heres the thing; my Dragon age content updater wont start (its just stops immediatly) so i have been trying to uninstall it, but no matter what i type in the CMD I always get the same answer: command not regognised(pardon my english). I found the installutil from windows and moved it to D:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship where my game is.

Now the billion dollar question; how do i use the installutil to uninstall? cant rename it as installutil /u and draggin the daupdatersvc.service and it just attempts to install it right?

What do I do?

Hope this is in the right area... im new to these forums...

Unfortunately I think this is a straightforward answer and i'm guessing its probably not the one I want... I've currently got DA:O on PC, but im upgrading to PS3 soon, if I want to get the same DLC I had from the PC version am I going to have to buy it brand new? There's no way of swapping content over?
