ok heres the thing; my Dragon age content updater wont start (its just stops immediatly) so i have been trying to uninstall it, but no matter what i type in the CMD I always get the same answer: command not regognised(pardon my english). I found the installutil from windows and moved it to D:\\\\Steam\\\\steamapps\\\\common\\\\dragon age origins\\\\bin_ship where my game is.
Now the billion dollar question; how do i use the installutil to uninstall? cant rename it as installutil /u and draggin the daupdatersvc.service and it just attempts to install it right?
What do I do?
Its really designed run it from the command line. /u is a parameter to the installutil.exe application. Its not intended to work witth drag and drop. Depending on your comfort level, you could make a .bat script to run it, or create a shortcut and then edit the command line in the shortcut to have the correct command.
However, you may not need to do that. There are a couple of other things you can try first. Since you are on Steam, verify your game cache.
Also try running the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta which was posted by a Bioware dev earlier in this thread. It checks the various windows settings for the service and makes sure they are correct.

Hope this is in the right area... im new to these forums...
Unfortunately I think this is a straightforward answer and i'm guessing its probably not the one I want... I've currently got DA:O on PC, but im upgrading to PS3 soon, if I want to get the same DLC I had from the PC version am I going to have to buy it brand new? There's no way of swapping content over?
Only content that has a PS3 version of it on your http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php page will carry over.

here's the problem
i bought the Deluxe version on steam, and i played the game a few days to get used to it.
then i though i'd upload the DLC that came with the deluxe edition, and when it dowloaded, it asked me to restart. i was kinda in a mission atm, so i chose to restart later. I did, and i restarted DAO. but when i clicked resume, it gave me this message:
This saved game includes Bioware Premium content. to load this saved game, an owner of the following Premium Content must log in:
Blood Dragon Armor
Warden's keep
Collector's edition
The Stone prisoner.
which is weird, since i haven't logged in with another account. i never even logged out.
It's just that saved file, cause my other character works just fine.
any help would be greatly needed

it's the shale DLC what makes me furious
i got win vista, newest SP
i tried many of these steps if not all of them..
first in all three tabs were no downloads, then i activated the updater and it downloaded it - without any error of "stuck at 0% 100%" or non-authorised
but when i tried to load , it crashes..
when i click on any of the DLCs in first tab, it crashes
when i try to start new game, it crashes
now i deleted my DLCs and wanted to install them via DAUpdater manually.. but .. yeah, you got it, it crashes!
if i disable the installed DLCs, i can load and play.. but without shale of course -.-
I bought this game honestly and now nothing works?!
(this is my second character, my first character got shale and the blood drake armor. after few weeks i wanted to play it a second time and that happened
I'd be really pleased if anybody here can help me, dont wanna bought it expensive but senseless!
sorry for my bad english, i'm from Germany

You know, i buy it cause i like Bioware but it's 200% easier to crack your game than buy it if you want to play...

For starters, I use Windows 7, 64 bits, english regional settings, U.S, etc etc. I got this via Steam. I redeemed the code. its linked to my account. Ive tried a lot of the steps provided here and none have been sucessfull yet. the last one I tried was the 3.1.1 although I am afraid I faled to do it...to me, its quite unclear on what has to be done.
Theres 3 files in my computer which all have dragon age related things (one in steam, one in libraries/documents and another on users): I do not know how to change the default download place and I dont know to WHICH it should be changed to, I dont know what else can I do any more.
the problem is the following: i've downloaded (three times now, due to the guidelines. deleted it, downlaoded it, installed it manually, deleted it, re downloaded ot frp, the daudpater service, etc) the DLC and the Blood Dragon armor and it works perfectly. correctly. wonders.
when it gets to the install aprt, the two DLCs go to extracting and promptly fail the second it begins installing, to no avail. I really wish someone could help, ive already verified game cache files and all that jazz. the one thing I havent tried which i want to avodi trying is uninstalling everything and reinstallingi t again cuz that takes so long...which will be my next step, if nothing occurs.
help!

We have a preview application that contains a number of the DA Updater fixes for the upcoming PC Patch.
You can try it out and see if it helps solve your problems in the meanwhile.
If you do, please let me know if it helps.

Also, you'll want to confirm your service starts when you boot the game. A few users have reported they need to manually start their service for some reason.
1. In Windows, Press start
2. Run "services.msc"
3. Find and start "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater"
4. Restart game
I just did this now, and it worked perfectly. My updater wouldn't start, and I suspect it was because of a borked installation. I had steam backing up the entire game, which I was then going to reinstall, but this way was obviously much less painful. Haven't checked on the DLC yet, but since the updater has actually started working now, I'm expecting big things.

I have the following game promotions: Blood Dragon Armor, The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, and Collector's Edition. They are registered on my BioWare profile (the one used to create this post here http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php). However, in game, it simply shows up as "Available for Download" with the purchase of BioWare points.
I've read the topic at http://social.biowar.../58/index/81613 this link over and over. I've followed every option on that page, tried starting / stopping / reinstalling the DAUpdaterSvc, I've even completely reinstalled DragonAge twice and Steam once. The last thing I've done recently is manually installed the DLC's from the links, however in game it's showing as "Unauthorized", and I've used the DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta and still had no luck.
This is so ridiculously frustrating that I cannot access the content that I've paid for. Obviously (from the sheer number of posts about DLC isssues) this is a widespread issue and should be dealt with better from BioWare.

Just running CMD won't make it with administrator right with Windows Vista and Windows 7. If I remember correctly, in your start menu under Accessories you should have both shortcut for Command Prompt and the Administrator Command Prompt.
Instead of navigating to the folder with DOS commands you could try this :
1.) Locate normally with Windows Explorer (or a search on your system) the file installutil.exe
2.) Right click the file and select COPY
3.) Locate the same way your installation folder for the game (in your case C:\\\\\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\)
4.) Right click and select PASTE inside that bin_ship folder
5.) Go in the bin_ship folder and make sure the installui.exe file is in there.
6.) Follow my instructions at the start of this post to run the administrator command prompt (cmd)
7.) type this : cd C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\
8.) type : installutil.exe /u DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe and press enter
9.) type : installutil.exe DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe and press enter
10.) try the game
11.) if it doesn't work try to manually start the service in the Services window and try the game again
Sorry for the formatting, i'm late to an appointment. Will format this and help you more a little bit later.
TIS IS WORKING!!! and for the service part if u are nt sure.
go to start type : services
double click on it and a window should pop out listing all the services
find dragon age services and click 'Start services' at the top left cornor
start the game it should be working!

This may have already been posted, but for some reason I'm having trouble with the search feature on this site and I'm not going to wade through nearly 80 pages of posts to find out.
EA Tech support told me to do the following and it fixed my unauthorised redeemed content problem:
- Shut down Dragon Age: Origins
- In Windows, press the 'Start' button and select 'Run'
- In the command line type 'net stop DAUpdaterSvc' (Don’t worry if it says its already stopped)
- Navigate to 'My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings' and delete 'Manifest.xml' and 'Offers.xml'and 'addins.xml'
- Navigate to 'My Documents\\bioware\\Dragon Age' and delete the 'Offers' folder
- Navigate to 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\' and delete the 'DAUpdater' folder
- Navigate to 'C:\\My Documents\\bioware\\Dragon Age\\' and delete the 'AddIns' folder
- In the command line type 'net start DAUpdaterSvc'
- Restart Dragon Age: Origins and log in
The DLC will then download again.
Notes:
In Win7 and probably Vista all these files and folders are in c:\\Users\\YourUserName\\My Documents\\BioWare
Hope it helps
