You must register your game (with the Standard CD Key) and your additional content (with the Standard Game CD Key) on social.bioware.com.HardSquirrel wrote...

- Connect to your social.bioware.com account (or create an account if you do not have already one).
- Once connected, select My Game > Register Game (left hand menu) to register the game using your Standard CD Key
- Once this is done, select Profile > Redeem Promo Code (again in left hand menu) and enter your Standard Game CD Key
- Once this key has been validated, you access to this page that list the vaious DLC to which you are entitled.
- Now, launch DA:O from Steam interface (select Play option in the requester)
- From DA:O main menu, log to your Social BioWare account (using the same account you have previously register your game on). The log status button located in the lower left corner should display "Logged In".
- Select Downloadable Content and open Download Progress to follow the download of your registered DLCs. Be patient as this can take some time.

So I eventually decided to download the DLC I had manually, Blood Armor and The Lucky Stone work just fine (I can buy the Blood Dragon Armor Pieces from the dwarf at the campsite), I also gained the Soldier's Peak quest, but the merchant is nowhere to be found and I can't get the Stone Prisoner quest to get Shale at all. What's going on?

Are these DLCs enabled in Downloadable Content > Installed Content (from game main menu)?
It they are disabled, simply enable them. If they are enabled, then try the following:
1. perform a save at the camp
2. exit to main menu
3. disable Stone Prisoner and Warden Keep in Downloadable Content > Install Content
4. load the save you created in step 1
5. when you see an error message about missing premium content, select Force Load
6. save your game under a new name
7. exit to main menu
8. re-enable Stone Prisoner and Warden Keep
9. load the save created in step 6
After these steps, Sulcher's Pass should normally reappear on the world map and the merchant should be present at the camp.

Very frustrated here. Went through the steps and I'm still stuck at 0% downloading the Stone Prisoner. Bought the game retail, used the redeem code, shows and it has been downloading at 0% for the last 5 hours.
The updater is there and set on automatic. Deleted manifest.xml. etc. etc. etc.
Just horrible business on Bioware's part. This game has been out for a while and they still have these kinds of problems. Really, really pissed off right now. Why should I buy anything else from these guys.

I had a hard disk failure, so I reinstalled Windows (XP Pro, SP3) and Dragon Age on another disk (same path as before). Meanwhile I sent my failed disk to data recovery company (I had a motor failure, so files were intact - it was just impossible for me to access them).
Now they recovered the files from my old HD and I got them back, so I copied "Characters" and "Settings" folders from old HD to my new "My Documents" folder.
But if I switch characters from the one created on my new installation (I have installed and played Leliana's Song afterwards) to one of those created on my previous installation,it says that my DLC is unauthorized - even though it was authorized when the game starts. When I quit to the main menu they are authorized eventually though. As if saved games are linked to my Windows account (even though I have the same username, some parameters related to Windows installation might have changed and this probably confuses the content updater service), not my online account (which is stil the same of course).
I have tried a couple of stuff from this guide, such as starting content updater service manually or changing its Log on from "Local System Account" to "Local Service" but the problem still presists - although, thankfully, it happens only once per Dragon Age session. So it's just an annoyance 'cause the game is still playable, but I would still like to know how to fix it. I could imagine people who bought a new computer and copied saved games from the old one having the same issue.

I am walking through Hell trying to get my downloadable content to show up. I've tried everything I can possibly try, save for manually downloading it and installing it that way. I don't want to do this however because I don't think it will fix my problem. There appears to be some kind of access violation or something that I can't work around, nothing will install/uninstall in Safe Mode logged on as the Administrator (running Windows XP).
Last thing I tried was run the DA Updater Service Diagnostic Tool. Everything is fine, but the service will not install itself. I've tried activing it through "services.msc", where it shows up, but gives me no option to start or stop when right-clicked. Here is what I'm getting from the diagnostic tool:
___________________________________________
Dragon Age Updater files are up to date.
Registering Dragon Age Updater service
- error -1; Failed to Create the service.
Adding Windows Firewall exception
Summary:
- Dragon Age CD Key was found in the registry.
- Dragon Age Updater files were found.
- Dragon Age Updater files were up to date.
- Dragon Age Updater service was NOT installed
Completed.
____________________________________________
I've tried installing and re-installing using the command prompt to no avail. Running the game as an Administrator does not work. Anyone with any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check that Service Pack 3 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 are installed on your computer. For the latter, you should find an installer either on the DA:O DVD or in the download folder.

Both installed, and I just installed every update possible on the Windows Update site. Where can I find the file to install the Updater Service on the DVD?

I don't have a DVD version but the service installer is named "DAUServiceSetup.exe". However, if you see it in Services window, this means that it is already installed.

Installed, but not running...quite troubling. I've re-installed everything manually, hoping that I don't run into anymore problems. Thanks for your help.

If your DLCs are displayed on a green background under Available Content, then try the following after DA:O game launch and before clicking resume or load game:
1. from main menu, check that you are logged in then select Downloadable Content
2. if you see your DLCs on a green background, continue to step 7
3. wait for Point Balance to be updated
4. close panel
5. click again Downloadable Content
6. this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again
7. wait for Points Balance to be updated
8. close panel and load your saved game.
You only have to proceed this way on your first savegame load after each DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directly load savegames during the same session.

I manually downloaded the DLCs that weren't showing up but that made everything except Awakening show up as unauthorized.
I decided to reinstall the game and now after enabling the updater again, the DLCs started to download on their own. Just hoping that they won't get stuck now.

The DLCs download will occur in-game. Launch DA:O and log in to the very same account you used to redeem your code. You can now open Downloadable Content and follow your downloads under Download Progress. Be patient, this can take some times to complete.
If the downloads take ages to start, try to start the Dragon Age Updater service prior to launching DA:O. For this, exit DA:O if it is running, open Windows main menu, select Run..., type "servies.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Updater service. Right-click on it and select Start in the drop-down menu. Once the menu has started, close Services window and relaunch DA:O.
