I still cant believe Bioware has made it so difficult to get stuff we paid for:
- Redeeming codes was a **** at the start until they had a link to check what I have already redeemed
- Manually installing a service to get updates??! No wonder the doomsayers are talking about the death of PC gaming.
I admire Bioware (in the end the DRM for this game is pretty unobtrusive), love the game so far, love my PC, but cmon guys, if you are listening please dont make this so hard...

Check the password you entered in the properties for the service. If you're logging into Windows with this account, there's no reason why a service should return that error.

I have gone through all the steps a few times but without success.
My downloads are siting at 0% and will not start downloading even if I try to forced download them
Also some of the display pictures do not appear in the Details Tab, instead they are grayed out.
I managed to get the stone Prisoner downloaded when the game first launched but nothing else will download.
Any ideas on what is causing this?
Same for me, It stay on 0% ,the download for the items i have from the flasf version rewards.

When trying to run the service, you receive an error looking like this : "Windows could not start the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater
Service on the local computer. Error 2: The System cannot find the
specified file"
People with the Error 1053 timing out, please post the same information here. A reinstallation of the service might be in order with section 3.2.4 (which can confused people)
Someone had this problem before. If I remember correctly I made him reinstall manually the Dragon Age Updater Service. We used the section 3.2.4 with his own file paths.
I will need these things so I can tell you exactly what to try :
- The complete path to DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
- The complete path to installutil.exe
- Double click on your service in the Services window and tell me the path of the executable
- Your version of Windows

Failed experiment for me considering I paid 50 € for this (great) game.
In the future: Make it work easier or DONT put downloadable content. Its an unnessessary pain to paying customers. :-/
Im also wondering: How do people that dont know anything about computers enjoy your game after this?
Think about it...;/
Still - besides all the anger: GREAT GAME SO FAR :-) Getting 5 Stars

If you bought on the EAStore or DLC shows up in the Available Content (where you need to buy them with points)
It seems that EA failed to send some DLC keys or registering some keys before the others could mess things up... Your best bet is hitting on the EA forums or e-mailing them.
To check what DLC is linked to your account : http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php
Your items shouldn't be there in some cases, especially if your DLC shows up in Available Content,. which means your account doesn't have the items linked. Either you messed up with redeemed your code, didn't get your codes, etc... We can't do much around these parts for these situations.
If your items are on the user_entitlements website and they still show under Available Content you might want to delog in the game, restart the game and relogging.
If it still fails you could always try section 3.3.1 to force the game to redetect what you are authorized to use/download.

You redeemed your codes, http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php shows all your DLC linked to your account and yet you're not seeing ANYTHING in the 3 tabs in the DLC section of the game.
This is covered on the first post with section 3.2.1.
This is most likely because the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater service is failing to start or didn't get installed in some cases (it also seems that Impulse buyers are getting this issue en masse).

You redeemed your items, http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php shows all your DLC items linked to your account, while logged in game you see items stuck in Download tab at 0%.
You could also have some DLC installated correctly but having one or more DLC stuck at 0% in the Download tab.
Try to delog in the game, restart the game, reloggging.
If it doesn't work make sure you tried selecting each item in the Download tab and pressing the little button Download that shows just under the windows that shows the item picture and description.
When nothings work, you can try section 3.3.1 to kick start the game and Updater service to recheck/redownload your content.

You have DLC items showing up in the Download tab stuck at 100% and they're not moving to the Installed tab.
Try to delog in game, restart the game, log back in.
If this doesn't work, make sure your personnal windows user account use the default Documents location and are not mapped on a different hard drive / partition / on a network.
Default should be something like
Windows XP C:\\Documents and Settings\\username\\My documents\\Bioware
Windows Vista and Windows 7 : C:\\Users\\Username\\Documents\\Bioware
(mind you I'm working from memory here)
If it still doesn't work you could try section 3.3.1 and when at the step where you delete Manifest.xml, rename all the other .xml file you find there.

What version of windows do you have?
With Windows Vista or Windows 7 you have to make sure you start the CMD as an administrator.
I think I'll add something about administration permissions for Windows Vista and Windows 7... I'll try to do it from memory. Won't be easy!

This could also be steps taken for people plagued by :
- Error 5 : Access is denied when working on the service problem
- 0% Download status for DLC items
- 100% DLC items not moving into the Installed tab
Before trying more advanced troubleshooting options, make sure to run the game as an administrator.
This
is performed by navigating in your Dragon Age Origins folder. right
clicking the daorigins.exe file and selecting Run as Administrator. If
it fixes your problem you'll need to enter this file properties and
tell Windows to always start as administrator when this file is
concerned.
3.1.3.1. Configuring Dragon Age: Origins to always run as an administrator
Check out this link http://www.sevenforu...inistrator.html and refer to Option Three (Using Compatibilty Mode)
Do that little procedure for the Dragon Age Origins executable which is daorigins.exe in the folder you installed the game in.
With default Steam installation it should be something like c:\\Program Files(x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Dragon age origins\\
Steam has weird shortcuts, not sure about other digital distributors.
You can usually the http://www.sevenforu...inistrator.html procedure directly on your shortcut to your Dragon Age game. If you can't you have to do it with the daorigins.exe file.
3.1.3.2. Configuring Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater service to always run as an administrator
Check out this link http://www.sevenforu...inistrator.html and refer to Option Three (Using Compatibilty Mode)
Do that little procedure for the Dragon Age Origins service which is DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe in the folder you installed the game in.
Exemple : C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

Okay, with restarting the DAUpdater manually again, the Warden's keep is also in the list of downloadable content. But how can i start the download itself??I have redeemed the codes, cause they show up in my players profile??
