In fact, there shouldn't be any collector's edition DLCs in Ultimate Edition. But once you have it, contact with EA support and try to convience them to unlock it :E___Rich___ wrote...
I have purchased the Ultimate edition and all my content is now available (after much troubleshooting) with the exception of the Collectors Edition content. It still says unavailable. Any help?

I was pretty happy that it finally managed to install after 5 hours. So I decided to start playing it. There was one small problem though: it doesn't want to start, with the error message:
"There is an error with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game."
Well, I'm not really in the mood to spend another 5 hours to reinstall it. When running the configuration, an error message is displayed while on the "welcome" tab. It sais:
"You do not have the correct version of DirectX installed to play this game. Please download the latest version of DirectX from here: http://www.microsoft...x/default.mspx"
So I checked my DirectX version, and I happen to have Directx 11. I tried to install DirectX 9.0c since some games have problems with DirectX 11, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas?

the easyest trick that has worked was entering the "run - services.msc option and starting the dl´s from there, my self includedso this is working wonders.
I agree. This is getting a bit annoying. I had this game for X360 console, this is a great game, so now I bought if for PC too. So redeemed some of the PC codes for this version. This was the first install and I have to launch services.msc (often) and start DAO service from there . I mean what the game tells is a bad joke, something like "unauthorized access to a DLC" and "log in as the person who installed the DLC", "cannot resume game as DLC installed as different user blaa blaa blaa". Quite a bit of misinformation.
And it's all about running services.msc... and was it year ago this game was launched. I thought these things would have been patched ages ago.
edit: Made a .bat to run the updater service every time when launching the game. Geez. Even Max Payne 1 was easier to install to Win 7 64 bit. Such a shame, as DAO works very smoothly by any other means.

If you used installutil to install the service, but it isn't appearing in the services list of Services.msc, go to SteamApps\\common\\redist and run DAUServiceSetup_Steam. I had tried this earlier, but it wouldn't finish/complete. I think using installutil first somehow allowed me to finish the second time, but I'm not an expert so meh, thats an option for Steam users.
Also, this is ridiculous.

Installing DAO DLC:
Navigated to:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\bin_ship
Selected:
DAUpdater.exe
Following Displays:
Nothing
I seem to get the 'O' shaped hourglass for a half second then nothing happens.
Whats up with that? Is there a way to fix this beyond uninstalling and reinstalling the core game?

When using a specific account to run the service, a '.\\' keeps getting appended. Is this normal?
Sigh...
'net start daupdatersvc' gives back a "The services is not responding to the control function".
Manually via Services, 'Windows could not start the Dragon Age: Origins Updater service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not response to the start or control request in a timely fashion.'
Tech support has been predictably unhelpful: Uninstall and reinstall. Patch the game. I downloaded Ultimate Edition, game came with version 1.04. I used daupdater to install Witch Hunt, that didn't do anything. Last time I tried installing 1.04, my game got corrupted, and I had to reinstall.

I've read this might be due the regional coding, same thing happened with Lair of the Shadow Broker, but changing the regedit to 'en' solved it. Sadly I have lost the instructions how to do it, anyone could help (before I find them again)?
This is my 2nd night wasted reinstalling DA and I'm royally pissed off.
Problem solved. If you headbutt a brick wall for long enough, it will come down eventually.

I have ultimate/steam btw.
edit to add a second question. I goofed up trying to "fix" my dlc while the servers were down. After the servers came back up, my only option was to redownload all the dlc. I did that, it's all enabled now. But here's the thing. Now I have a folder called "Addins" in both the steam folder and the Bioware folder in Documents, and both are filled up with dlc. It's not huge so no big deal but I assume I can delete one of these. But which one? Should I just leave it alone since it's working? I hesitate to even move a single file in case all my dlc gets unauthorized again. Lol TSA at the ports and DRM on the nets, life is getting crazy.

I also though bought Dragon Age: Origins before along with preorder and various other bonus DLCs and those aren't appearing the DLC Installed Content at all. Nor in Available Content. In Available Content it also lists DLCs I already now own.
I downloaded the game using the EA Downloader if that makes any difference. All the DLCs are also listed in my registered game promotions. The original DLCs I owned worked fine with when I just had Dragon Age: Origins.

this link helped a lot. I would recommend this workaround for steam users. though i have to start manually the service each time before playing.
