Bimbomand, thanks for a direct instruction about where to look in the other guide. I seemingly wasn't able to understand what the heck did I need to do from this guide however comperhensive it is, but Kepha's guide helped.
Think that should be added to point 0.1.9 - that's where my problems were. "That" meaning a line regarding the manual activation and that a DLC needs the Updater Service to operate. Guess it IS written here, I just couldn't see it.
Thanks again everyone.

Now let me say that ALL of my DLC from both versions of the game showed up perfectly fine in DA:OUE. I deleted Dragon Age Origins: Utlimate Edition and re-installed Dragon Age: Origins. All my DLC was still downloaded, including Awakening, but the game does not show it as downloaded or that I even have access to it. Anything that came with the UE version is now in the Available Content tab, even DLC that I had before then from the Digital Deluxe version. The pre-order DLC that wasn't included, however, works perfectly fine.
I've registered both versions of the game & all CD codes that Steam gives me and the DLC shows up in my account as having been redeemed, but I still can't access it. In the guide, it says to go to the technical support site and click on the chat link and they'll credit it to my game but I see no chat link on the site.
Also, another problem I'm having is that with Soldier's Peak - at the part where you talk to the mage and you can get the final codex that'll give you the Ancient History quest, when I get the quest it also created a duplicate entry for the quest in my journal. When I finally complete the quest, however, only the first Soldier's Peak quest is completed, the second is still there and won't complete...can anybody help me with this?

But I still have the problem with the duplicate Soldier's Peak entries.

Is there any way to redo it and get the content installed without having to buy points?

1. No Awakening
2. Much of my DLC, while installed and authorised is disabled due to "missing requirements" i.e. reqruies game version 1.03 or 1.04
I've spent hours trawling this site for fixes, to no avail - several posts claim that Ultimate Edition is fully patched - yet the config utility suggests the origin/exe is only 1.02
It was a fresh install, no previous DA games installed, updater is working....

To be honest with you, steam is not all what it's all cut out to be. I had many problems with steam in Fallout: NewVegas too, so I know what your talking about. Get with support until it's resolved, and don't just let it go. You paid for it, get what you paid for.
Then, once you do get it all straightened out, you can run the game in steam by having steam on your pc inactive, or playing "offline."

After this, my Dragon Age Origins Content Updater service completely disappeared from services. All attempts to use "net start DAUpdaterSvc" result in a System Error 5. I tried uninstalling and installing with installutil.exe, but it always mentions that it already exists and rollbacks. I've already reinstalled all of Dragon Age and it still persists.

I'm having an issue similar to someone very early on in the post
Error 193: 0xc1
It just says it couldn't start the service on Local computer.
Tried everything that guy tried but some of the commands don't work, in particular this one says there is a file missing.
installutil "C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe"

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for this. You have saved me much heartache after getting a new computer that has a secondary drive as my main. It took me a minute to figure out that I needed to reference my secondary drive to uninstall then install, but it was a beautiful thing once I did.
Thanks!

I am signed in using the same account that I always use. Nothing changed on my end. I'm using the Steam Deluxe Edition.
Edit: Found a solution thanks to hanibal.gr.

I redeemed two separate codes for content. One for DA:O and one for the DLC included with the ULTIMATE. I can see that the game knows i ahve registered it since i am given the opportunity to un-register teh game.
Cant log into the game to access paid for content that came with ULTIMATE but under the log in where it normally says that in DA:O i see my emaill address as if i am logged in.
I can see the DLC and that it is enabled but NOT authorized inside the game
Please forgive me for NOT wanting to read through 80 pages of this thread but i lost interest after a few pages. I do not have that much time to play games let alone reading threads on how to make the game workd to begine with.
Am on Win 7. DA:O was working prior to Ultimate install so i know the game works.
I uninstalled DA:O and made a whole new account for ULTIMATE so no issues would present themselves.
I hd lots of issues with DLC and DA:O so i guess it was my stupid mistake for giving EA/BIO yet more of my money. Damn it.
I sent off a support request to EA and will now have to rely on getting my game to work through email.
I am NOT going to fiddle with the game to make it work. The game SHOULD WORK with no fiddling. Considering how MANY people are experiencing problems with this i will surmise that it is NOT my issue at all. If i get the usual stupid first line tech support answers then i will simply uninstall the game and NEVER give EA/BIO my money again.
Thsi is pissing me off and i have now devoted far too much time to this stupid game now.

The problem was that my DLC was not installing after downloading in game. It would fail after a quick extract attempt. It WOULD install manually, but I hate workarounds. Oh, also, the available content list wouldn't propagate in game.
I discovered after assing about for a few hours that it all worked fine in another user profile. The lightbulb went off: must be something to do with user permissions. I compared the permissions on my Dragon Age folder in Documents across both profiles. The non-working profile only had my user name with full control. The working profile had my user name, system, and administrators with full control.
To break it down into how to fix it for a Windows 7 user who'd like to try it out what you need to do is:
- right click on the Dragon Age folder in your documents
- select properties
- choose the security tab.
- If you don't see system or administrators in the "group or user names" box, hit the edit button
- hit add
- hit advanced
- hit find now
- choose system
- hit ok twice
- select the full control box
Now to figure out why my permissions are all screwy. Seems in my experience that the Dragon Age updater is sensitive to this. Likely cause was a malware attack I cleaned out ages ago. <_<

It is now my opinion that this game was rushed out, is unfinished, full of bugs and frankly EA/BIO do not give a hoot about their customer base.
I sent EA an email asking for ports that needed to be open and i got a run of the mill first line of defense email that stated the blinding obvious such as updating drivers ect. Not that i need to state that EA completely ignored my question which was about ports that needed to be open. Why bother with EA/Bio when they cannot even ask simple questions such as ports needing to be open.
I saw that some ports were being blocked, possibly relating to the game, by my firewall but without knowing which ports belong to the game i am not goign to open them. That is why i asked about ports but got a snotty first line of defense "tech support" answer.
I find this extremely insulting. I was 20 pounds on this game and i will now NEVER EVER buy another EA/BIO game.
You people blew it big time.
I am going to write a VERY nasty report on my website now about how i was treated and the fact that i could not get the game to work out of the box with the paid for content on both Win7 and XP.
Fecking shameful company you are. Now feck off. I have wasted enough time with this stupid game and i am actually considering starting a small claims suit here in the UK since this game does not work straight out of the box and requires major tweaking to get it to work.

If you had cared enough to share with us, that would be one thing, but since we are gamers also, afrter all, don't be nasty toward us, stupid person (in case the offending post ends up being erased, the author wrote a long and noisy message, I only quoted a little of it, not including the euphemism for vulgarity). We aren't Bioware or EA, we are just what the forum description says we are: Social Forum Members. Nothing official here.Magnag wrote...

The offer is what allows you to access the DLC through the actual campaign by visiting specific area. The other bit is the meat of the DLC. It is unlike the DLC that is accessed directly through the alternate campaigns selection on the main menu, which is why it also needs the offer.

Turned off virus and firewall during install even though i have NOT had to do that even once in over 15 years of gaming. exited bothcompletely and left my machine open like an idiot to get this game to work
ran installer as admin even
verified DAUpdater is in correct path in registry
Started, ended and re-started DAUP service prior to trying to log in
verified account status and password by logging into social.bio so that
means that the log in details which the game says are not correct are
indeed correct and the game is giving me an error instead by pointing me
to customer support
verified that i have access to DLC sine i am able to download the content and able to log into social.bio
set everything individually to run as admin
uninstalled updater service and re-installed it then started it prior to log in attempt.
Tried to log in with no firewall at all and still nothing
I have tried this with WIN7 and XP....... this is the forth install
I get to the EULA and no further as if a nonexistent firewall is blocking it or somehow my credentials are submitted wrongly.
Either i am submitting the wrong account details or there is seriously
something wrong with this game. I can run the stand alone DAO just fine
with no issues at all. I uninstalled vanilla DAO, cleaned registry of
all traces prior to installing Ultimate
The game keeps telling me to log in but when i click on Options after i
submitted log in details and have been denied i see my log in email
address like it is when i am logged in but above that it says LOGGED
OUT.
AS in ....inside the options screen it says LOGGED OUT on the lower left
but under that i get my email address i used to sign in with but that
is the one that gets refused authentication. It's almost like i am
logged in but my computer does not recognize it nor has it been
authorized to be logged in yet for DLC purposes.
Do you expect total novices to go through this sort of routine to get your games to work? Flipping heck. I am lucky and have several IT certs so i am ok with the command prompt and things but i have never been stumped so much in trying to get a game to work. It installes ok but the game WILL NOT LET ME LOG IN to auth DLC that i am entitled to. WIth or without firwall. Without or without antivirus on it does not matter. With WIN7 or XP i get the same errors.
What the heck???????????????????????
