Have you seen how they were used in KoA?

Yeah, it's sort of incorrect because the Chakram's aren't like boomerangs once they are thrown. It's why it feels more like melee combat to me with a longer reach.

I'm pretty sure the magic made them act as boomerangs. I think it would be a bit more interesting than staffs.

I dunno if Chakrams are the way to go, but I'd certainly like to see throwing weapons.

I played the KoA demo but I never saw any Fae Blades.

Was it magic that brought them back? I thought they were just fantasy boomerangs that acted like the chain-swords from God of War.

As exotic Qunari weapons, maybe. Otherwise no, asian weapons don't fit with the theme.

Big impractical WoW-inspired dual weapons. Think of them as the size of a bow without the bow-string and the entirety of the surface is sharp. You whirl around like Taz from the Looney Toons. I played around with them a bit but felt daggers were better for DPS and then Chakrams were better than daggers.

Although daggers and faeblades both allowed for stealth kills while chakrams didn't.

Yeah mages need another weapon. Chakrams are cool but like everyone said already, they don't fit in.

Wouldn't mind a melee weapon like this for mages;

Brontide skill from Dragon's Dogma. Real good with Hellhounds, Direwolves and the like, since you can strike at a wide range. Also pretty good against Chimeras Cyclopses and other bigass creatures.

Man the friendly fire on that thing would be terrible.

I didn't really care much for KoA. As for combat weapons, I'm all for more types/options. I really hope they bring back some things from Origins such as crossbows and shapeshifting.. if they add new stuff too that is fine with me.

faeblades to me weren't that great. The biggest interesting thing about them was the sneak in kill and they only ever did one thing when you did it. Daggers on the other hand approached most of the enemies differently every time you did it. Faeblades sounded cool until I played with them in KoA and then I went back to daggers and really had my fun. Mostly because of the varied ways I could sneak up and kill people.

Chakrams were alright but i've seen it before... Characters have had some form of spinning attack with them, even at somewhat of a range for several of the Dynasty Warriors Games.

Chakrams are Indian in origin, not Asian.

India is in Asia.

Someone was bound to say this :wizard:

I've always liked the idea of more weapon choices/classes. I'd love to get class specializations like chakrams, whatever it was Tallis was, spears, rapier style rogue, DW warriors, etc.

Seeing as Thedas is only one continent in the world, it's likely there is an Asian culture/race out there. But wait till they are introduced before picking up their "styles".

:o...ok I want one...

I mean its hardly like Dragon Age is sort of demons, after all in DAO Mage-Warden could learn Blood Magic from one after doing a deal...more demon dealing for DA3!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got round to play Amalur. I have to say Chakrams are a really nice addition to mix up mage combat. Casting spelling and using staves can get a bit repetitive after 40+ hours of play. The Chakrams really do complement their abilities rather nicely. Plus its a weapon that could potentially cross over all play styles.

Then again as everyone has pointed out already, I cant really see it in keeping with Dragon Age style

Chakrams and Faeblades were my go to Weapons. Chakrams were just devstating for mid-range combat against groups of enemies or large enemies while Faeblades were great for melee against groups or larger foes.

Dude, if I see chakrams in DA3 then I'm gonna want a lightsaber, laser canon and a flamethrower aswell, cause they fit in so good into DA lore.

Indeed.  Just as DA lore can make 50 arrows appear out of nowhere

:innocent:

If exagerations like that are allowed would Chakrams be such a stretch of imagination?

I liked the chakram combat a lot in KoA, but I'm not sure it fits well into the combat system we've seen so far for Dragon Age. Though the KoA system felt a lot more fluid and fun to me.
